Chapter 1
Piya looked at her mother longing for her to come and stand by her. She was feeling alone and scared. There were lot of people around her looking at her but their piercing gaze was not helping her.
"Mumma...I need you" she thought in mind eyeing her mother
Sugand gave her a quick gkance before turning towards woman. She was worried.
"How can you do this?" She whispered so that no one could hear
"What have we done? We didn't do anything yet" the woman said angrily
"But we can't afford it" Sugand said sadly
Arnab looked at them from far. He thought for some time. The woman stopped the priest from starting the rituals before going in corner with Sugand. She is the mother of groom so her decision will be obeyed. Arnab saw there is some problem so he decided to check on them.
"What's happening here? Why did you stop the marriage?" Arnab came and looked at the woman
"We want our payment" Woman said strongly
"What? But I paid you right?" Arnab said shocked he glanced Sugand worryingly
"Yes but we want more" She replied
"But why? You know we can't afford this much" Arnab said shocked at her demand he has already given them a hefty amount of dowry
"So? If you can spend so much amount on the decoration of your daughter wedding then you can give some to his in laws too" She said angrily the greed was dripping from her heartless words
"See we don't have any money left to give you try to understand" Arnab tried
"If you cannot give us dowry then this marriage cannot happen" She got angry
"You cannot do this please" Sugand cried
"Suniye ji..." she called her husband
"Let's go... son stand up your in laws doesn't want this marriage" she shouted to her husband and son
The groom stood up on his mother words. Piya too stood up shocked. She was not able to understand what's happening. Everyone starts to whisper.
"Listen to us... You cannot do this" Sugand cried
The woman stood with arrogance with her husband and son by her sides.
"We have given you what you wanted but we cannot afford this you have to understand us just for some dowry you cannot ruin our children happiness" Arnab tried to make her understand
Piya closed her mouth with her palm as shock reeled in her body. She never knew about the dowry matter. If she knew she would've denied for the marriage instantly.
"My son is happy with me" The woman said arrogantly
"No marriage will take place" she screamed her decision
"Let's go" she gestured to her husband and son who listened to her like a puppet
She walked away irrespective of Arnab and Sugand pleads.
Piya stood by her father - "why didn't you told me about this papa? They are so disgusting" Piya said angry on the woman and worried for her father
Arnab pressed her forehead while Sugand cried.
"You will not understand this Piya" Arnab whispered
He was somewhere glad that his daughter got save from this greedy people. He gave them the dowry in start thinking it's not big deal and they are nice people but he should've understand that asking for dowry is sin and if they are committing this sin then they are not nice.
But he has done a mistake by fixing this marriage and now it was too late no one will understand why marriage break even if they will they'll just close their eyes and point finger at Piya. He was worried for his daughter future now.
Arnab start to feel dizzy. He hold the wall for his support. Sugand and Piya holds him quickly.
"Papa" Piya cried she was worried for her father deteriorating health
"Sambhaliye khud ko" Sugand said between the tears
"They left Sugand. They left our daughter in mandap! Do you know what it means" Arnab looked at his wife "Who will marry our daughter now? Everything is ruined" Arnab wailed
Piya stood crying. She wanted to tell her parents that she doesn't want to get married its okay whatever happened but she couldn't bring herself to say it. She knew her parents will not like it. So she stood seeing them with tears that she wiped time to time.
Away from their little world of pain someone was watching everything keenly and was thinking deeply.
"Excuse me"
Arnab and Sugand looked up to see a young high class woman. They gave her confused looks.
"Do I know you?" Arnab asked little irritatedly thinking she come to add salt on their injuries
"Ahh you may not know me I came here with my friend. Am Haseena, Haseena Raichand" She introduced herself politely
"Yes" Arnab asked composing himself
"I wanted to say if you don't mind... I will like to marry my son to your daughter" Haseena suggested
Arnab and Sugand were shocked while Piya was frozen. So much drama in her life and she couldn't say anything.
"You? Why will you do this?" Arnab asked in shock
"I am serious. You may know about Raichands and their status so don't worry we don't need anything. I was in search of a nice girl for my son. I heared everything that happened here! I feel that she is the girl I am searching for so if you just give your nod I can call my son and the marriage can take place right away" Haseena explained her thoughts
Sugand and Arnab exchange glances. They heared about Raichands they are very influential family. Piya can never get better than this.
"We...we don't have any problem" Sugand said looking at Arnab and then towards Haseena
Haseena smiled satisfactorily. She then glanced towards Piya gesturing them to ask her.
"Piya... You are okay with this right? You don't have any problem na?" Arnab asked
Piya looked at her father with tears. She wanted to say no for this marriage but again it was not her decision neither before nor now. She nodded in no simply looking down.
Arnab smiled in relief with Sugand.
"I'll call my son" Haseena said with smile
They nodded back with smile.
Haseena called her son and informed him about what happened.
"Fine! Am coming" He replied in a tone that gave the sense of not interested
"In a minute" Haseena ordered before cutting the call
Haseena looked at Piya and walked towards her. She touched her cheeks and looked at Sugand
"you should take her in room until he arrives she'll take rest" Haseena said softly
Sugand nodded with smile and take Piya in room. After Sugand left her alone Piya sat on bed pressing her forehead. She looked at her phone placed on the side table. She thought for sometime and then walked towards it. She dialed someone number.
"Hey Piya everything is alright na I thought it's tine for your marriage" She heared her worried voice from other side
"Nothing is alright Misha and... and am feeling so lonely" Piya said sadly
"why what happened?" She heared
"They were asking for dowry and when Papa and Mumma refused to give more because they couldn't afford it they break the marriage and left" Piya informed
"Really? That's good then why you sounds sad you wanted this right" Misha her friend was confused
"I wanted this but at that time don't know from where a woman came with her son alliance and now I have to marry another stranger about whom I know nothing" Piya sighed sadly
" What? " there was shock on other side
"I understand why papa is doing this but he should understand it is not necessary" Piya was sad and angry on her fate
"Piya why are you not saying anything? You should talk with uncle and aunty they will understand you"
"I know they doesn't know anything that's why doing this I too don't want to tell them anything but it's mumma papa who doesn't know tum to janty ho na then why are you not with me at this time? " Piya complaint
"Piya you know na I couldn't come. You leave that and tell do you anything about whom you are marrying? Name surname something? " She asked
"I don't know his name but his mother name is Haseena Raichand" Piya told
"Raichands? That's awesome then my dad knows them they have two sons elder one Armaan Raichand and younger Abhay Raichand I think it will be Abhay as Armaan was once married but her wife died even after that I cannot say who your groom is as Haseena Raichand was trying to marry Armaan again so just inform me his name whom you are getting married once you get to know. Both are nice guys any ways, but I just hope it is Abhay he is really a gem" She heared from other side
"Okay" Piya said analysing the information in her mind
"you don't worry they are really nice people and do this just talk with your groom and tell him everything he will understand you okay?" Misha advised
"Not sure but I'll try to talk with Mr unknown" Piya rolled her eyes
"And if he troubles you tell him about me or tell me about him I'll punch him hard on his head and his brains will become set after that" She tried to cheer up Piya
Piya laughed a bit - "alright will talk to you later mumma will come here in sometime bye" Piya cancelled the call
She thought about what Misha said to her. Sugand came there and saw her thinking something.
"Piya I know all this seems strange to you but Raichand is a reputed family that's why we agree" Sugand explains
"I trust you mumma" Piya said weakly
Sugand smiled and then took her outside.
Before anyone could knew the marriage take place.
Piya looked at her parents with tears. She hugged them and cry.
"I know all of this was just.. out of thoughts but you cannot change the fate right?" Arnab cupped her face indicating her broken and again sudden marriage
"How should I tell you papa that I never care whom am marrying because I never wanted the marriage" Piya thought looking at her father
Piya silently heared her parents consoling her and advising her. She was going away from her parents and it was paining her. She wanted to say something but the words just died.
Haseena hold her shoulders indicating her that she needs to move. Piya cried looking at her parents as Haseena make her sit in car.
The journey to Raichand mansion was full of pain for Piya. She decided to do what Misha told her talk with her husband, Husband! That was a heavy word for her to use for the man who is completely unknown to her, a stranger, nevertheless it was the bitter truth of her life. She didn't knew how her in laws are, good bad strict or anything and how her life is going to be so she just prayed to God that everything goes well.
After her traditional entry in Raichand mansion, Haseena took her in the room. Piya was surprised to see the room decorated. Haseena saw that she was surprise, she smile lightly.
"I know the decoration is not really nice but that's all we could manage in such a short notice" Haseena said
"It's... nice" Piya didn't knew what to say so she just go with the flow
"This is your room from now on, be comfortable" Haseena touched her cheeks softly "I know all this was sudden for you but I promise you'll not feel bad about all this"
Piya smiled nervously. Haseena make her sit on bed and walked out of the room.
Piya closed her eyes praying to the God. She was nervous and scared. She heared the voice of door opening. She knew who it must be though she didn't dared to look up and hold her dress tightly.
He looked at her. He stepped slowly towards her. He was nervous himself. He had noticed her action on him entering the room.
Piya felt him sitting on bed in front of her. She looked at his face slowly. It was the first time she was seeing his face. She tried to compose herself to talk to him but before she could say anything he talked.
"I know all of this happened suddenly you may not even know me and what I feel you don't want this like... me" He had saw her unwillingness he knew she wanted the same as him
Piya sighed in relief hearing him.
"I married you on my mother insistence I never wanted this marriage. I love my first wife, she died years back but I can never forget her so..." He told and then looked at her "You have the liberty to live your life as you want and I will live my life" saying so he stood up
"Thank you so much. I too did this marriage on my parents insistence and all this... Am not ready for it. Thank you" Piya said in small voice
He nodded in reply.
"And just for your information... I have a daughter too" and he walked out of the room
Piya felt relief. She was relaxed now God has listened to her prayers.
"So he is Armaan Raichand" Piya concluded "Misha didn't tell me that he has a daughter too? Who cares? I am free now" Piya smiled brightly
Piya thought it was going to be difficult but all of it turns out to be easy. But she didn't knew all of it was not as easy as it seems.
