Abhiya OS- Unconditional Love
Abhay walked out of the classroom after finishing a long exam. He was exhausted. It was a hard exam. His best friend, Kabir, caught up with him.
"Hey dude! How did you do on the exam?" He asked curiously.
"I'm pretty sure I failed." Abhay said, clearly disappointed.
"Liar. I know you will top this year." Kabir said positively.
"No more jokes. We all know who will top." Abhay said.
He let Kabir go his own way and then walked back to the doorway of the classroom. He peeked inside, just to get a closer look at her. The girl he loved, Piya. She was still taking the exam...her brother, Jeh, writing down the answers as she said them quietly with her sweet lips, trying not to give away the answers. Abhay smiled, as he touched the glass over her image.
Meanwhile, Piya was almost done with her exams. She was lucky to have a brother like Jeh, who helped her in the littlest things because she couldn't on her own. Because of her disability. She was born without hands. She finished with five minutes left on the clock.
"Here ma'am." Piya said while Jeh handed her the paper.
"Thank you, Piya. I wish you the best." She said.
They walked out of the classroom together . Jeh said goodbye to his little sister and left for work. Abhay hid against the adjacent wall. Piya was just about to leave when her bag had dropped, along with the books inside it. She couldn't pick them up. An expression of distress appeared on her face. Abhay came like a hero to her. He helped her pick up her things and helped her get back on her feet.
"Thank you, Abhay..." Piya said, blushing.
He stood silent, admiring her innocence and her beauty. She smiled at him.
"Bye." She said, quietly. Her friends came to get her.
Abhay watched her until she was out of sight. He wanted to tell her his feelings, but he was afraid. He didn't know what she thought of him. He was the most popular guy in college...maybe she thinks that he wouldn't take interest in her.
(The final exam day...)
Abhay walked into the classroom and took his seat. He searched the room for Piya. But she wasn't there. He frowned. He had studied all night, just so he could finish early and finally tell Piya that he loves her. He leaned over to her friend Misha.
"Hey Misha...where is Piya?"
"I don't know...I saw her outside." She said, confused.
He got up from his seat and started towards the door. But the professor walked in as he tried to leave.
"Be seated everyone. I will hand out the exam paper in just a moment. Remember...no cheating and you may not leave until you are finished." She said in a strict tone.
Abhay sat back down, worried. If Piya doesn't show up, then she will have to repeat the whole year. Why hasn't she shown up?
He took the exam diligently. The extreme study session had paid off. He had finished with a hour and a half left.
"Here is my paper ma'am." He handed her the paper. "Ma'am, where is Piya?"
"She is waiting for her brother. He is caught in traffic and she needs him so she can take the exam. He should be here by now."
"Oh." Abhay said.
Piya was standing at the college entrance. Jeh hadn't shown up yet, the traffic was too heavy. She paced back and forth, in the verge of crying. Abhay came over to her. He didn't like to see her worried.
"Piya! What happened?" He asked, concerned.
"Look Abhay! Jeh hasn't shown up yet! How will I take the exam?!" She started to cry. Abhay wiped her tears.
"How long will it take?"
"I don't know! He called ma'am and told her that he will be late." She paused. "This exam is very important to me." Her sobs grew louder.
Abhay took her in his arms and gave her a tight hug. Then he came up with a solution.
"I will write your exam for you." Her face brightened. She had always known that Abhay cared for her.
"Really? You'd do that for me?" He nodded.
They both hurried to the classroom. The professor looked confused.
"Ma'am...may I write Piya's paper for her?"
"Abhay...I can't allow this..."
"Don't worry...I won't do anything." The professor let out a sigh.
"Ok...I will trust you...because you both are very honest students."
The professor agreed. She gave Abhay the paper and both went to Piya's seat. Abhay began to write as she spoke. He wanted to see her happy. His hand hurt like hell, but he continued to write. He wrote as fast and neat as he could. They finished as soon as the bell rang. Abhay finally saw a smile in his Piya's face. He liked it.
"Thank you Abhay!" She said, giving him a hug.
"No problem, Piya." He hugged her back.
Jeh showed up a little later. His face was full of tension.
"Piya...I'm so sorry. Your whole year was wasted because of me."
"No Jeh...I took the exam."
"But...but...how?!"
"Abhay helped me." She looked at Abhay. Jeh came over to Abhay.
"Thank you so much. You saved my little sister."
"No really...it's no problem. I just couldn't see her suffering." He looked at Piya with loving eyes.
Jeh gave his sister a hug and left. Abhay and Piya both left together.
"How do I tell her my feelings?" He thought, shoving his hands into his pockets.
"I love him...but how do I tell him?" Piya thought, looking away.
Abhay remembered when he first saw Piya. She came with Jeh on the first day of college two years ago. Everyone mocked her because she had no hands, except him and eventually Piya's friends. He always smiled at her when he walked into class very morning.
Piya also remembered when she first saw Abhay. At first she didn't like him, but he was always sweet and kind to her. He never made fun of her like the other. She fell in love with him the first day itself.
Piya found one of her professors she needed to talk to near the college gate and left her bag in Abhay's responsibility for a minute. There Abhay found a balloon vendor walking by. He was selling heart shaped balloons as well. He ran over and bought one of those balloons. Finally he had found a way to tell her...
Piya came back to find her bag unoccupied.
"Where did Abhay go?" She said to herself.
She found a heart shaped balloon tied to the strap of her bag. She read it out loud.
"I love you, Piya. More than I ever could imagine." She blushed while reading it.
The balloon rotated...on the back, it read "Abhay..."
Piya smiled wide. She began to look around for Abhay. She was waiting eagerly for this day.
Abhay waited for Piya behind the big oak tree. He hoped she loved him back.
"Abhay!" He heard her call out.
He moved into her view from behind the oak tree. She smiled big and ran towards him. She wrapped her arms tightly around him. Her tears soaked his shirt.
"I love you too Abhay." She said.
He lifted her chin and gave her a small kiss on her perfect lips. Piya felt fortunate that she got a guy that loved her so much, despite her physical disabilities. And Abhay felt fortunate that he got a girl that loved him for who he is, and not for his money or status.
For them, their love is unconditional...
