Chapter 6
(Piya's POV)
I woke up earlier than normal. There was some noise in the kitchen. Must be Kaka. I got dressed and went downstairs. Kaka was on the sofa drinking tea.
"Kaka, you haven't left for office yet?"
"No, my boss gave everyone a little break in the celebration of his engagement, so I'm on leave for a couple days. How is my sweet princess? You woke up early today?
"Yeah, I needed to talk to you about something."
"Tell me." He got curious.
"I was thinking of getting a job, to help you out a little."
" Dear, I really appreciate it, but you don't need to worry about me. I do this to make you and Maya happy. You two are the daughters I never had."
"But Kaka, I really want to...please?
He sat there, sipping his tea, and finally spoke up.
"Alright dear." He gave a sigh of defeat. "Just promise me that you still give your full attention to your studies."
"I promise. Thank you Kaka." I gave him a tight hug. Time to find a job.
Maya and I reached the college on my scooter today. She was surprised it didn't break down. We were gathering our things when Abhay rode in on his bike.
"Who is that cutie on the Suzuki bike?" Maya said, blushing.
"That's Abhay, the guy I bumped into yesterday."
"Ohhh, that's him. You have a nice taste Piya. He is so..." I shut her mouth with my hand, but she grabbed it and dragged me over to him. He saw us and smiled.
"Hi, Piya."
"Hi."
"And who might you be?" He looked at Maya.
"Me, I'm Piya's best friend."
"Nice to meet you". They shook hands.
"Well Piya, I'm going to find the others. You two can talk." She backed away slowly, giggling.
I walked with him to the classroom. We were quiet for most of the trip. He asked me about stuff, like my interests and my family. I couldn't concentrate on anything he was saying. Was I going mad? And the fact that he was the most handsome guy I had ever met didn't help matters. His eyes pulled me into a trance that I couldn't break out of. I wanted to state at those eyes forever. I didn't realize that I blanked out when I missed the entry to the class and hit my head on the door frame.
"Owww." I groaned in pain.
"Piya, are you okay?" He grabbed me and touched my forehead. The pain instantly vanished.
"Yeah...I'm fine." What just happened?
He helped me to my seat, like a complete gentleman. The bell rang for first hour, and he went to his seat, while maintaining his gaze with mine.
(Abhay's POV)
I went straight to the canteen, alone. Misha took Piya with her immediately after class. Kabir, Jeh, and Angad were waiting for me.
"So how is our best friend doing, long time no see." Kabir said
"Same as always"
"ABHAAAYY!"
I turned around, now staring at T. Great, she was giving me those looks again...
"What do you want T?"
"Oh, nothing. Just wanted to ask you to be my partner for the annual dance competition .Will you?" She stared at me.
"Sorry, already have a partner. Besides, I don't want to separate you from your admirer over there."
There was another guy in the main quad. He set up a big poster with T's portrait on it.
In big letters it read: "T, will you be my partner?"
T's face turned red and she stormed off. She kicked the guy's poster in the process.
"But, Abhay, you don't have a partner.." Angad said.
"I needed to get rid of her. As for the competition, I'll find a partner...
