My research told me that the only way to kill a vampire was to strike a wooden stake straight through their hearts. I marched into the forest with a wooden stake to kill her. But she appeared in front of me without any trace of remorse and giving me the same disgusting repulsive smile of hers. It's a wonder how my feelings regarding her changed in just a few hours. From sensuously attractive, she was now disgustingly repulsive for me. I shouted at her demanding to know why she killed my best friend, but my anger had no effect on her. She just coolly replied, "Because he was messing in affairs that were no business of his." "Oh really! Like what?" I demanded again sarcastically. "He was trying to keep you away from me and trying to find out who I was. But you see, when I had set my eyes on someone, then nobody can take him away from me. You belong to me, so how could I let anyone come between us?" she replied casually but it only increased my disgust with her. I snarled back, "I am not yours and never will be! He was my best friend and you killed him! You are a beast, a monster who just preys on innocent humans like me. But I won't be a pawn in your hands anymore."

"Oh Darling! Don't be so angry. We can be equals if that's what you want. I really like you. You are the handsomest guy I have come across in the last 200 years and I won't mind spending an eternity with you. I can make you like me honey, and then together we will rule this world."

I spat in disgust. "Be a monster like you! Never! I don't want to be like you who preys on innocent human beings. I am ashamed I ever met you. You disgust me to no end. I would not have anything to do with you anymore!" I shouted.

"You should not have said that Abhay! I get what I want. When my father denied to hand over our kingdom to me, I burnt the whole kingdom down after trading my soul for immortality. A fair bargain in my opinion. Since then, I have been ruling over this forest and through petty humans like you, I am learning more and more about humans weaknesses so that I can rule this whole world one day. I have plenty of time with me to go slow you see. But you have foolishly decided to offend me. No one gets away with that. After all I have done for your commercial success and your carnal pleasures, you dare insult me. You will have to pay for it. Now that you know my truth, I as it is don't have any choice other than killing you." She spoke calmly. But I was already ready with what I have come to do. "Oh I won't give you pleasure for that!" saying that, I swiftly attacked her with the wooden stake aiming straight through her heart. Taken by surprise, she stumbled on the floor writhing in pain and black blood oozing out of her heart. I had no desire to see her dying. My revenge taken, I decided I would leave the town now and start afresh - the horrors of my past buried deep inside this forest.

The screeching sound of the tires brought me out of my reverie. I had reached the edge of the forest, I had once vowed never to return to. I have no idea how Piyali survived being staked through her heart, but right now I have a more pressing worry on my mind - to save Piya from Piyali. I won't let Piya go through the same fate as hers. I entered the forest resolutely with another stake hidden inside my shirt. This time I would make sure that Piyali is gone for good. I reached the ruins of the old fort and found Piyali waiting for me, wearing the same lehenga which Piya was supposed to wear for the show. She was giving the same smirk she always used to, but now instead of finding it sexy, I only found it hateful. But she was least bothered about it and moved towards me in the same old style and stopped dangerously close to me and spoke in that same fake seductive whisper of hers, "How have you been doing Abhay? Missed me. Ah, don't try to deny that you did. Why else would you have fallen for a pitiful doppelganger of mine otherwise?"

"Where is Piya?" I asked angrily.

"Piya, Piyali.. she even tried to imitate my name. Tch.. Tch.. what a pity, she can never meet my charms though. But, tell me Abhay, aren't the similarities too much for them to be a coincidence. Think about it Abhay! What if there was no Piya in the first place, but only me fooling you all along." She spoke out my doubts loud and the suspicious part of me again wondered, but the rational part of me protested against the idea and I spoke in disgust, "She is not like you! She is too innocent and naive to be you!" I turned away my face from her in disgust but just a moment later I heard a scream from a little distant. "Abhay.." I turned around to find Piyali gone while Piya was screaming out from one of the balconies of the fort wearing the dress I had left her in before leaving asking her to change for the show. She was looking pale with fear written all over her face. She was shouting, "Abhay! Save me! Is she Piyali? What does she want from me? Why is she doing this to me? Is she even human? I thought she was dead!" Before I could say anything, her hand was pull backwards by someone I could not see and she fell out of my view. I started running in her direction only to find my way blocked by Piyali. She was still taunting me, "In a hurry sweetheart?? But what makes you so sure she isn't me. You already know my speedy habits, don't you. So what if I am still fooling you?"

"How did you survive last time?" I asked her instead of pondering over her questions which were only confusing me.

"Ohh that's because you loved me too much to actually kill me honey. That's why that stake only touched my heart, but did not go across it. So while I was still reduced to a pitiful existence, I still survived enough to seek help from the ancients to restore me my original strength and vitality. It just took too long and I had to repay them by serving them in every possible way for 2 years in return of this favor, but I guess you already know how I don't mind that at all. It's good to find someone more powerful to dominate over you for sometime. Makes for a good change and a new excitement." She winked shamelessly at her carnal preferences which only further repelled me from her.

"I won't make the same mistake again Piyali. This time I would finish you for good." I lost eye contact with her as I moved to take out the stake from the back of my shirt and Piyali was gone in that moment. Instead Piya was once again shouting from a different balcony, "Abhay, please save me. I am really scared." And once again, before I could move towards her, she was pulled away by an invisible force but this time, Piyali appeared in the same window laughing mirthlessly. "You care too much for this pitiful version of mine, is it? But she is nothing like me. No spark, no appeal. Even her eyes are a dull brown unlike my bright violet ones. But that can be changed, if you really want her so much. Just one long bite to make sure my venom reaches inside her vein, and her eyes will become just like mine. Though I doubt that would do much change to her personality, but its surely worth a try, don't you agree?"

She was smiling wickedly and for the first time I was scared of more than losing Piya. What if instead of killing her, Piyali makes her like herself. I shouted back, "No you would not do that! You would not touch her."

"Oh really, who would stop me? You?" she laughed at the mere suggestion.

"Yes! I will stop you. You want me, you can have me. But let her go. I know you have powers to make people forget. Make her forget this night, but let her go in peace, I would do whatever you want in return." I had to bargain with her to save Piya. She was innocent and did not deserve any of this.

"Wow. So much love for this pitiful human! Oh I am touched! You should have agreed to my demands much earlier Abhay. I never take no for an answer. I get what I want. Fine, you want her to go, she will go, but first you will have to agree to be my slave till eternity - to do as I please - though I am sure you won't really mind bidding to my desires." She again laughed shamelessly and I did all I could to hide my disgust. I nodded in agreement, and I found her next to me in the very next instant. As she moved her neck towards mine, I saw her canines protruding out of her mouth, ready to strike, but I was already prepared for this moment. With one swift move, I pulled her from her hair with one hand and with the other, I striked the stake right through her heart, this time making sure it goes right across. Within an instant, her body was replaced with ashes in my hand and there was no sign of Piyali anymore. I sighed in relief. Finally Piyali was gone for good. I called out Piya's name and entered the fort to find her. I found her crouching against a wall sobbing in fear. I pulled her up and held her against me. I pulled her in an embrace assuring her that Piyali was gone forever now. She won't trouble us anymore. She hugged me back tightly to seek comfort and I was glad to have finally saved my Piya while a weird smile played on her lips as unknown to me she finally opened her sparkling violet eyes...
