Chapter 1
(The Heir)
Darkness had encompassed all around the forest. Light was begin to fade away, and bring in a new night. It was a full moon night. Perfect night, to kill the beasts who had been roaming this earth for hundreds of years killing innocent men, women, and children. A cold, heartless ,dead heart beating creature who was the Earth's most dangerous predator. The girl ran through the mud, and the tiny small stream in the forest racing like the wind, and using all her human strength to kill the beast who had taunted her to avenge the death of her beloved mother. She had already soaked the arrow with a powerful silver extracted poison. But this beast was powerful, she realized. Usually one arrow did a job, but here one arrow had not been effective.The creature who had already been struck twice by the girl fell down falling in to the mercy of his enemy. The girl stopped on her tracks, and took out her last arrow.She spit on him.She did not feel mercy for the creature not because for who he was, but the crime he had consigned against humanity. With a mighty force, she launched the last arrow . The creature screamed ,and faded in to ashes.
Some one hiding behind the tree, watching her amusingly applauded her. He was her boss. Stephen Van Hassling. The one who had granted her a new life when she was on the brink of taking her own life.When her mother had been murdered ,and when her father had abandoned her. Her mother was murdered by a Vampires (creatures who survived drinking blood). Since that tragic night, it had transformed her from a little innocent girl to a cold slayer. She was the most powerful slayer. She had worked day and night rarely taking breaks to achieve this reputation. Her name was feared by several vampires.
Stephen(smiling)- Well Done Piya! You proved your worthy of becoming a leader of my clan when I am gone(said the old man) (coughing). I want you have this necklace. It was my wife. We could never children, but she always considered you a daughter. It's a moon stone necklace. It will protect your from vampires, werewolves, and many other supernatural that lurk in this Earth
Piya(smiling), and testing the sweet taste of victory- Thanks! Papa! Victory sounds so sweet nah. I have just begun my revenge. I promise you this , I will eradicate these blood sucking monster out of this world.
Stephen( amused at her response, and sighing heavily)- Sometimes, I feel guilty for dragging you to this. You are 21. You are supposed to go out, and have fun. Date boys, go to theater, and do things normal people do .
Piya (emphasized with his sorrow)- I know Papa! But, I am me. I love what I do. My mission is not done. Pappa. I need to give me time. I promise the day I my mission is fulfilled , I will live my life to the fullest.( smiling at him)
Stephen(laughing)- This girl is too stubborn for me to comprehend anything to her. There are millions of vampires , and hundreds of Vampires are being born everyday. How are you going to be wipe out the whole species ? Plus, there are plenty good vampires too who live in human society adapting their norms, and cultures, and, drinking blood from the blood bank as provided by humans. So not all of they are what you think.(raising his eyebrows)
Piya (shocked with what her father had just said, hissing)- Papa! How can you even think they are good? They are nothing, but leeches. A bunch of bloodsuckers who have no trace of humanity on them. Those vampires you speak of are only fooling the outside world. Papa! I don't want to discuss on this matter with you anymore.( Pia started to walk away irritated)
Stephen(laughing), trying to catch up to her)- OK! Calm down my child. You have already stirred up troubles everywhere. By now, you have earned a reputation world's number one slayer, and I am sure vampire pee in their pants hearing your name.
Van Hassling House
The Van Hassling were one of the wealthiest family in Dehradhun, and owned half of the town.Since Stephen never had child of his own, Pia was his sole heir to all his abundance wealth.Pia parked on Porsche on the side which her father had gifted on her 20th birthday.The mansion had a huge fountain on the center .There were three separate houses to accommodate the needs of everyone.The main house was for the Van Hassling family, and other two were for the servants, and their families. There was a huge stable nearby where Pia rode horses often to escape her reality.
Pia got out of the car , and handed her keys to the valet.Pia warned the valet to take care of her baby properly. Stephen Van Hassling as usual amused by his daughter did not say anything. They both entered the house to find it surrounded with models.Her aunt was dressed up like cow girls, and was flirting with them during the photo shoot. As usual, Pia laughed at one of her aunt silly career change plan again and left for her room.Pia quickly changed in her swim suit, and went for a quick swim in a nearby lake. She felt the cool water around her body, and swam of to the edge . She stared at the moon take by it's beauty.Full moon night she thought. It had been perfect day to kill, and began to process her whole day. The killing had gone smoothly, but next time she would have to be more careful she pondered.
Her thoughts were disturbed when an old chubby womancame running towards her ,calling her. She recognized it was Bertha( her new maid) .
Pia signaled Bertha to stop running before she lost her balance, and fell in to the lake.
Bertha (breathing heavily ,weeping and continuously apologizing) -Forgive me mistress for disturbing your routine, but your father sent me here.
Pia (who could see Bertha was scared for disturbing her, try to clam her down)- Relax Bertha, Breathe!Tell me one thing at time. Pia gave her a gentle smile trying to clam her maid down. They knew she had a very volatile temper, and it had scared all the servants in the house.
Bertha(sighing in relief)- O mistress you are too kind.You are not like what they said.
Pia (amused ,and curious)- Who said what about me?
Bertha (scared, and stuttering what she had just said)- The servants told me you were quite temperamental, and did not like ever being disturbed.I am new, and sir assured me that I would not disturb at this moment.I am sorry mistress.
Pia ( smiling gently at the scared woman)- Don't be scared Bertha. Just tell me why father send you here?You are not in trouble.
Bertha ( breathed in relief, and smiled at her mistress)- Thank you Thank you for not being angry at me. She told her father had send to call for his daughter because he wanted her to meet few guests for dinner, and told her it was an urgent meeting. Pia understood at Bertha's word why her father had called her, and left for the house.
Pia changed in to a white color half sleeved dress that went below her knees. She quickly braided her Bohemian style, and went down stairs. The whole council was seated around the dining table,and were discussing strategy to protect their borders.
Her father signaled her to come sit next to her.Pia took a seat besides her father.
Stephen (raising a toast)- Gentlemen.At the sound of the leader, the council stopped murmuring , and their glasses along with him.
Stephen(smiling)- As you know I am growing old, and my days are counting.I have to name an heir to succeed me.
Council murmured ,and nodded in agreement.
Pia shocked in horror.How could her father talk about death again? She had told him not mention this time again and again. She knew death was inevitable.Everyone had to leave this world , but she could not let her father go. She wanted to fight the existence of death, and keep her father with her till she was alive.She gulped her saliva at thought, and decided she would later chat with her dear father for mentioning "the forbidden topic" later.Right now was not the best time.
Stephen (continuing)- You know my daughter Pia .She has grown up to be a lovely woman,and number one slayer in the super natural ream.She has always been on our side when we had to conduct our business. She has always been present in our every council meetings, and she has more knowledge about our community than any other youngsters. She cares for this community as much you do , and I do. She has earned her right.Therefore, I am naming my own daughter to be my heir . She will make an excellent ruler. I hope gentlemen you can agree with my decision and will not oppose it. Also, I would be happy if we had the succession ceremony from three full night now.
The council nodded in an agreement that Pia was the best selection , and gave Stephen their full support.
Pia knew she was always going to be the heir, and accepted to take her position. She knew it was only matter of days she was going to succeed her father. She knew she was born to reign over the slayers. She nodded in agreement along with the council,and her father that she was ready to take her responsibility.
