Part 11

Piya was walking on a deserted road. She knew Abhay was very ill mannered but never thought he would misbehave with her like this and this time she was not at fault either. Just to prove her wrong he played with her emotions. But how could she lose control? She did not know who she was angrier at; Abhay or herself. She stopped and held her head, which was spinning. Piya was already unwell and on top of that Abhay had upset her. She then heard the sound of a car approaching her from behind and felt the place light up. Someone was running fast towards her. She turned around and saw the car but had not time to act and was about to faint but before the collision could occur she felt herself being pulled away. As the car sped away, Piya found herself in someones's arms. She looked up to see her saviour and found out it was Abhay. She was surprised that she was alive and it was Abhay who had saved her. Abhay looked shocked by his own act. She wanted to say something went unconscious. He touched her face and found out she had a high fever. He started to feel guilty. She was actually ill and he thought she had lied and behaved badly with her. He lifted her and rushed off to his car to drop her off home.

He placed her on the front seat and got on the driver seat himself. As he pulled away he started to think about what happened a few moments ago. Why did he get so angry when he saw her with Sid? Why did he get visions of her when she was in trouble? Why did he fear her death? And why did he go running to prevent it? He had many questions in his mind and he knew the answers too. It was all because she was a look alike of the girl he once loved. He never saved a human life before because he believed there were things much worse than death. Living a cursed life himself, he thought it was a blessing to die and go on. After all these years, he thought he had become a stone with no feelings but this girl came into his life and started to make him weak. This was what made him loathe her. He stopped the car angrily, ready to throw her out and prove he was heartless. He turned to her and saw her still unconscious. He noticed she was shivering with cold due to high fever. He stared at her for a long time. She was innocent, he thought. Completely unaware of what she was doing to him. It was probably his own fault that he could not control himself. He removed his jacket and covered her with it. Making a mental note of apologizing to her at office tomorrow, he restarted the engine.

The jungle

It was past midnight when a person dressed in a black cloak and face concealed beneath a hood was walking through the trees. A tall man stood at a distance with his back turned. He heard some movement behind him and quickly turned around. It was Siddharth and he looked troubled as he noticed the cloaked figure approaching him.

"Siddharth," a female spoke from behind the hood.

"We could've spoken on the phone or met at my house," he said at once. "It's not safe to come here. Anyone could see us."

"You have become quite cautious haven't you?" the woman sneered. "Where is the Siddharth who never thought once before taking a step? Who always took risks?"

"And because of that I suffered years of punishment," he said severely. "I have learnt a lot from my mistakes."

"How long will it take?"

"Not long."

"I never knew the task of trapping a girl would be so difficult for a wizard like you," she taunted him.

"For your information," Sid said crossly. "That girl Piya is very close to me. She trusts me with everything and loves my company-"

"But she needs to love YOU!" she snapped. "That is what you are here for so make this happen as soon as possible. I have waited for years, I cannot wait any longer. We already wasted time because you were suffering punishment but I waited because only you were apt for this job. Then Kabir's death delayed things. Make her fall for you."

"Don't worry, it will happen soon," Sid assured her.

Piya jumped up with a gasp at early morning. Her nightmares had started again and nowadays her dreams mostly contained Abhay. She leaned back on the headboard and started to think about Abhay and the incident that happened two nights ago. She could not believe it that Abhay had saved her life but nevertheless she was grateful. Now she was sure that he was not a murderer because even though he hated her, he still protected her from harm. She realised he was mean, rude and arrogant but he was not evil. She had taken a day off from work and was feeling much better so she decided to go to work tomorrow to thank Abhay and resign from her job.

In a few hours, Piya was getting ready for work but could not find her favourite top. She went to Misha's room to see if it was there. As she was searching through her wardrobe, a thick book with a black cover fell to the ground. She picked it up and opened it to find out it was Kabir's diary. Misha came out of the washroom and found Piya with the diary in her hand.

"Misha, where did you get this from?" Piya asked.

"I went to Kabir's house before aunty and uncle left just to see it one last time and found it in his room," Misha told her. "You know Piya all his belongings had been donated for the peace of his soul but somehow no one came across this diary. I think it was left just for me."

"And they let you keep it?"

"Yeah, aunty said I found it so I deserve to keep it."

Piya smiled and her eyes became moist as she touched the pages written in Kabir's handwriting.

Alina's house

Panchi was lying on the floor partly conscious. She was incredibly weak now and barely recognizable with her sunken eyes and pale skin. She sat up breathing heavily. Her insides were aching with hunger and mouth dry from thirst. The door flung open and Alina entered angrily.

"I have had enough now," she hissed. "If you cannot tell anything then you are no use! It's time to finish you forever!"

Her eyes turned bright blue and fangs appeared. Panchi's eyes widened as she watched Alina advance towards her. She did not want to die but could not betray her clan either. And what was the point of escaping alive from her when her clan would consider her as traitor and punish her? Alina grasped Panchi, her long nails digging into her arms. Slowly she went to her neck and as soon as her fangs touched her skin, Panchi shouted, "Wait!" Alina stopped and looked at her. Panchi had finally made her mind up.

"I'm ready. I'll tell you everything I know," she said.

Alina stared at her for a while as if trying to sense some trap and then her eyes turned back to normal and fangs vanished.

Raichand Empire

Piya wanted to talk to Abhay first thing when she came to office but found out he was out of town. So she decided to wait for him then inform him she was leaving her job. As soon as Abhay returned to office and sat down, his phone rang.

"Abhay, come to my house right now," Alina ordered him on the other end.

"Why? What happened?" Abhay asked.

"Panchi has finally decided to disclose the secret but she's adamant that you must be here," she told him. "You were right; she's too scared to talk to me."

Abhay smirked, "OK, I'm coming."

At last his wait was over. In a few moments, he would become the most powerful creature in the world. When he stepped out of his cabin, he found Piya standing in front of him.

They were staring at each other when Piya spoke, "Abhay, I wanted to-"

"Piya, I don't have time right now. I'll talk to you later," he said and walked away.

He went to the reception and told Ruhi to postpone any of his meetings for today.

"But sir, you have a very important meeting-"

"Just do what I said," he ordered.

He walked away and Piya, who overheard him, started to wonder what could be more important than work for him. She became suspicious and decided to follow him. After, grabbing her handbag from her cabin, she too headed outside.

Alina's house

"Abhay I'll tell you everything I know but after that you'll let me go," Panchi said to confirm when he came to her in the basement.

"I promise I will let you go," he said reassuringly.

"The magical object you're after is a magical potion hidden near the jungle of Dehradun," she told him. "I have never seen the place but I know the directions that lead to it and the exact spells to break the protection around it."

"OK so let's get this over and done with now."

Piya stopped her car a bit far from Alina's house and saw Abhay's car parked at the entrance.

Abhay and Panchi both walked to the hall where Alina was waiting for them.

"I'm going with Panchi. She's going to show me the place," Abhay told Alina.

Alina nodded and walked with them.

"No," Abhay stopped and said firmly. "You wait here. She only wants to take me."

"What?" Alina asked angrily. "How dare she?"

She was about to charge at Panchi but Abhay came in between and Panchi held on to him in fear.

"Just stay here!" he shouted.

He started to head out with Panchi and Alina said from behind, "Abhay don't even try to cheat on me."

Outside, Piya was about to leave when she saw Abhay coming out supporting a frail woman and started to get curious so when Abhay drove off, she started her car and followed. When Abhay looked in his rear view mirror a few times, he realised Piya was following him and this irritated him badly. He slammed his foot on the accelerator and speeded up. Piya too speeded up. Panchi got scared and then started to scream when Abhay drove on full speed.

"What are you doing?" she yelled. "Slow down! You're going to kill me! SLOW DOWN!"

"SHUT UP!" he shouted at her.

Piya wondered how Abhay managed to drive so fast. When he lost sight of Piya's car, he started to slow down. Panchi was now crying but he ignored her.

It had got quite dark when they reached the jungle and Abhay stopped the car near it.

"This is the jungle right?" he asked, helping her out.

"Yeah," Panchi answered weakly.

She started to walk and Abhay followed her. After a while, they reached a graveyard, Panchi opened the gate and they entered it. They looked at the countless rows of graves in front.

"We need to find the grave of Mary D'Souza," she told him.

"OK, I'll look," Abhay said knowing he would be much faster.

Panchi closed her eyes trying to remember the path she saw on a map once. She started walking according to the directions she could remember while Abhay was searching in another direction.

"There's Mary D'Costa," he called from a distance. "Are you sure it's D'Souza?"

"Yes," she replied.

As she walked to the next grave, she finally saw it, "Abhay, I've found it!"

Abhay zoomed towards her and found her standing next to a very old grave.

"What do we do now?" he questioned.

"We have to open this."

"What? We have to dig open someone's grave?"

"It's empty. It was only made to store the potion."

Abhay was relieved. He could never do that to a person's last place of rest. Panchi had already started digging and Abhay looked around to make sure they were alone. At last she reached the coffin and placed her hands flat on it. She closed her eyes, concentrated with all of her powers and started to mutter various spells. She stopped, opened her eyes and waited but nothing happened. She was very weak so her spells were not working and she had never been good a magic anyway.

"I can't do it, I'm weak," she cried.

"Try again, you have to do this," Abhay urged her.

Panchi desperately started to think of what to do. She then remembered what her mom always said to her.

"The greatest power was the power of love," she recited her mom's words to herself.

"What?" Abhay asked in shock. She was scaring him now.

"There is no such thing as love," he said firmly.

"If love exists then this will open," Panchi said, now determined.

Abhay gave her a confused look, which she ignored and closed her eyes. She visualised her husband and son, who she loved dearly and wanted to get back to as soon as possible. She repeated the spells with hope. At last, the lid flung open and lying in the middle was a black velvet pouch.

"This is it," Panchi whispered.

Abhay could not believe it. Could it really be this easy?

NOTE: The part where the potion is hidden in a graveyard is of course largely taken from the show because there was actually no point of me writing it differently so I hope it's ok:)

ps- well as you can see I'm not good at description 😳 so I'm sorry if it's not good 😳
