Part 3
Dobriyal house
Piya was fumbling in her wardrobe next evening searching for a dress to wear at the Raichands party. She was highly irritated because she could not decide what to wear as nothing seemed right to her. Her bed was covered with all of her dresses. Misha who was ready in her usual jeans and top entered her room.
"Piya, you're not ready yet?" she asked in disbelief. "And look at the mess you have made."
Piya left her wardrobe and turned to her, "I'm so confused, what shall I wear?"
Misha rolled her eyes, checked the dresses on the bed and picked a blue knee length dress, "This is nice, wear this."
Piya took it from her, looked at it and threw it back making faces.
"Wear anything yaar, it's only some random guy's welcome party."
"Piya Dobriyal must always look good and you know very well how classy the Raichands are."
Misha sighed, "Ok but hurry up, mom dad are waiting."
She left and Piya carried on messing up her room further. She didn't know why but tonight seemed special to her.
...
Raichand Mansion
Arnab, Madhu and Misha came out of their car and looked at the lighted Mansion. After checking her mirror and reapplying some lip gloss, Piya stepped out. She was wearing a long, white dress that made her look like an angel. Her long curls blew in the wind as she made her way towards the entrance with her family.
As soon as the Dobriyals entered, they were impressed with the arrangements of the party. The Mansion was beautifully decorated with lights, candles and flowers and music was playing in the background. All the guests were stood chatting away with drinks in their hands.
"Welcome Mr Dobriyal," a voice called.
They turned around and found Chand and Haseena approaching them.
"Hello Mr Raichand," Arnab smiled.
Soon Piya and Misha were stood away from their parents and Misha kept looking around.
"Looking for Bablu?" Piya asked her teasingly.
"Piya, for the last time I'm saying don't call him that," Misha warned her.
"Well, I'm not the one who gave him that name in our childhood," Piya said innocently.
"Yeah but you only started using it after our alliance is fixed just to tease me."
Piya laughed, "OK, I won't say it."
"Where is here?"
"I'm here," a voice said behind them.
They both turned around and found a tall boy standing with a smile on his face.
Happiness spread on Misha's face, "Kabir."
Misha and Kabir were both lost in each other's eyes and Piya watched them amused. After a while, she cleared her throat and both of them broke their eye contact.
Kabir quickly turned to Piya, "Hey Piya, you look beautiful."
"Tell me something new," Piya said with attitude.
...
Abhay dressed in a black suit was stood in his window gazing at the moon while thinking of his past, present and future. This was the day he was born and the day he died. He could never forget this day as it reminded him of his painful past.
He was born unwanted and grew up being called many names such as a mistake, bad luck, result of a betrayal. Those who were his blood relatives made his life worse than death. Then the one who became his heartbeat broke his heart into pieces. Finally, when it was time for him to leave the world, his death was snatched from him by a few vampires and their selfish reasons.
Abhay became a vampire, a living dead person, who could neither live nor die. He spent many years of his vampire life in a dark room away from the world. He saw no point in such an existence until he came close to Alina. She was the one who gave him a motive to live this cursed life by sharing her plans to gain power with him. The only thing that kept him going now was this goal of becoming the most powerful vampire and he was fairly close to his destination too. He just needed to reach to the key to power before Alina and this time he was not ready to lose.
...
Whilst walking, Piya bumped into a waiter and some drink got splashed on her. It was only a few drops but she got upset.
"My dress!" she exclaimed and angrily looked at the waiter, who got fearful. "Where is the washroom?!"
"I'm really sorry madam," the waiter apologized and gave her the directions to the washroom.
She started looking for Misha and spotted her talking to Kabir. She decided not to disturb her and went off on her own.
Everyone was waiting to meet Abhay Raichand but he still had not come down to the party.
"Haseena, why is Abhay not here yet?" Chand questioned her.
"I'll go and check," Haseena told him.
Suddenly, all of the lights went out and only the candles were lit. The guests were shocked and started asking what happened to the lights.
"What is all this? What kind of arrangements have you done, Haseena?" Chand asked.
"Chand relax, I'll send someone to check the main switch. It will be sorted soon."
When the lights went out, Abhay came out of his thoughts. As soon as he stepped out of his room, a beautiful fragrance caught his attention. He had never smelled such a scent in 100 years of his vampire life. He unexpectedly started taking steps towards the source.
Piya had come out of the washroom and was wandering around the top floor unable to see anything. She was feeling scared and suffocated just like she did in her dreams. It felt as if she would lose herself forever in this darkness and there would be no way out.
In the hall, Misha was searching for Piya because she knew Piya would be feeling scared now.
"Have you found her," Madhu asked her worried.
"No mom but don't worry she'll just be here."
While walking fast, Piya bumped into a masculine body. She lost her balance and was about to fall but Abhay held her delicate body by her waist and straightened her up. She was relieved that she was not alone and was feeling grateful to this person, who just helped her. Abhay noticed this was the human girl whose smell had attracted him.
"Who are you?" he asked in a cold and stern voice.
She didn't know why but she reached out and held his cold hand tightly. She had never been this close to a stranger before. His voice and touch both were cold but still she felt secure with him.
"I'm sorry," she said knowing he will be surprised by her act. "Actually I'm afraid of the dark."
What a weak person, he thought. Abhay just hated humans, despite having a precious thing called life these ungrateful beings would be upset over small things.
"Darkness is a part of life," he said in the same icy tone. "There is no point being scared of it."
"Look, this is not the time for lectures. Will you please take me downstairs? I'm scared."
"Well in that case, you should be scared of me too because I belong to the dark."
He jerked his hand out of hers and left.
