ABHAY AKA VIVIAN D'SENA
What was the most shocking news you have come across in recent times?
The most shocking news for me was the recent bomb blast in Mumbai, which again proved that our security system is lagging behind. It is pathetic that due to government negligence, innocent people are getting killed.

Which civic issue needs immediate attention?
The root cause of every issue is corruption. Once it goes, every issue will get sorted out - like roads; nowadays; we find only potholes instead of roads.

Which current political leader has the charisma to lead India in the future?

I have no clue about the current political leaders, but we as an Indian, I want one politician who knows his/her responsibility and will work for the betterment of the countrymen instead of filling up their bank accounts.

What do you feel regarding the underdevelopment of our country?
Frankly speaking, I feel very disgusted when I hear about the scandals by politicians.

Where would you ideally like to see India in the next 10 years?

First, I want to see India free from corruption. Though we have improved in other areas, we still need to improve more on civic issues. I hope that in the next 10-15 years, we will see a country with no corruption.

Do you think it is achievable, given the current state of affairs?

I will say yes and no, because if we are vigilant and ask questions to our politicians, then everything is achievable.

Do you think the current generation is taking independence for granted?

No, I don't think so. In past few years, the new generation is asking questions to the government, and they are thinking about the nation -which is good.

What would be the one advice you would like to give the politicians of our country?
I am no one to give advice, as I feel it's their duty to lead our country with respect and not fight among themselves.

JEH AKA RITHVICK DHANJANI
What was the most shocking news you have come across in recent times?
That India has more than Rs. 5000 crore money in just IT sector scams. One single person is involved in a scandal of Rs 100 crore- 400 crore, and still, we call ourselves a developing country. That was the most shocking news for me.

Which civic issue needs immediate attention?
According to me, terrorism needs immediate attention, because today in Mumbai, it is a regular affair to hear of a Mumbai blast. We are so used to it, though none of us know whether we will come back home or not.

Which current political leader has the charisma to lead India in the future?

Rahul Gandhi looks charismatic and challenging. We have not even heard of any scam against him. He seems very youthful. He looks like our future leader, who can make it big.

What do you feel regarding the underdevelopment of our country?
Believe me, our country is not underdeveloped or even developing. Whatever development is supposed to happen is happening in bank accounts. Every citizen pays some kind of tax, but we don't know where that money goes. The corruption is at such a level that we need to deal with it first.

Where would you ideally like to see India in the next 10 years?

I would like to see India at a stage where we can stop using resources from countries like USA, France and Germany. We should be one of the most powerful countries. Basically, we should be at a stage where we don't need help from anyone else.

Do you think it is achievable, given the current state of affairs?

Yes, it is - only the corruption should be out. If the scams and scandals are out and government opens up those accounts, I am sure India will be a richer country, and we won't need to pay much tax. All the black money in Swiss accounts can be used to help the poor.

Do you think the current generation is taking independence for granted?
It actually varies from person to person. India is growing in a massive way. Today's youth is more independent. We can see that drugs, crime and rape cases have increased, and it is because freedom has been taken for granted. We know that even if we are caught, we can call someone from a higher level or pay some money, and we will be free. Nothing is going to happen to us. It is that kind of independence that we have in India.

What would be the one advice you would like to give the politicians of our country?
I would want to request them to look into stuff which needs attention. Corruption is the main issue. First, solve the inner problems, provide education to everyone, and then go for nuclear projects. Provide shelter to everyone. There is a rise in the number of people dying because they sleep on the footpaths. First, clean your house from within, then try to compete with other countries.

NEEL AKA SUYASH KUMAR
What was the most shocking news you have come across in recent times?
Just yesterday, when I was driving, I saw a small child meet with an accident with my car but, thankfully, he was not injured. I went out to see if he was injured, but I dropped my cellphone. I found it shocking when someone stole my phone.

Which civic issue needs immediate attention?

There are many, but I will cite one that happened with me. On my car, I have the words 'Government Of India' written. When the traffic cops see it, they salute me and let me go. They should at least check my documents and ask who I am. If they won't, any terrorist can roam around in such a car!

Which current political leader has the charisma to lead India in the future?

No comments on political leaders.

What do you feel regarding the underdevelopment of our country?
The money we need is in Swiss bank accounts. Once this money reaches India, we will be developed.

Where would you ideally like to see India in the next 10 years?

Frankly speaking, I was asked the same question ten years ago, and since then, I haven't seen any change. So, I don't know what kind of change we can expect. I would like to see every citizen of India well educated.

Do you think it is achievable, given the current state of affairs?
Our government might say India is developing with speed, but insiders know that we are not. Indians are geniuses, but first, we need to educate everyone in India and then employ everyone. We need to wipe out corruption too.

Do you think the current generation is taking independence for granted?
No, I don't think so. Today, the youth is more open-minded and straightforward. They want Indian systems to change but, yes, sometimes, they do take it for granted. However, it still varies from person to person.

What would be the one advice you would like to give the politicians of our country?

They should take a step back and think of India as their own home and develop it, rather than thinking only about increasing their bank balances.

DEEPANITA AKA KARUNA VERMA
What was the most shocking news you have come across in recent times?
The bomb blasts in Mumbai on July 13 were absolutely shocking.

Which civic issue needs immediate attention?

I hate people spitting on the roads; it's disgusting. Something should be done about it.

Which current political leader has the charisma to lead India in the future?

Rahul Gandhi is preparing himself to be a good leader, and so is Omar Abdullah.

What do you feel regarding the underdevelopment of our country?
Every country has to face such things while developing, but unfortunately, our policies are old, and we need to reframe them. Public money is being misused. We should choose our leaders carefully, and not get carried away by their promises.

Where would you ideally like to see India in the next 10 years?
I dream to see India free of corruption and financially strong in the world.

Do you think it's achievable given the current state of affairs?
Financial inequality has become the bloodline of the country. It will take time for things to improve.

Do you think the current generation is taking independence for granted?

I do not agree. I feel it is a good thing that they are enjoying their independence.

What would be the one advice you would like to give the politicians of our country?
Think of the public, rather than thinking of just yourself.
