I personally don't find it funny or cute. Instead of them being supportive like they SHOULD be they are shown as putting her down. This is one reality I hope they wouldn't have shown because even in our world mostly overweight kids loose their self confidence because they don't get the love and support from their families. This is the reason why Anorexia and Bulimia and other eating disorders are prevailing among the younger generation.

@Jot : Yeah I agree. But saying it from love and affection is fine :)
But yes overweight people do lose their self-confidence due to all this.

@LadyMacbeth : It wont harm her. But sometimes, losing weight is not easy task also. And that's totally one's wish to lose weight or not. Some people look cute with overweight also.

But Mahi that is where the problem lies. These parents may be trying to affectionate but they don't realize that they are in fact putting their children down. It is in fact the same as insulting them using love. It doesn't matter how you insult someone, an insult is an insult. The fact of the matter is these kids usually get bullied outside of their house so when they start getting lectures from their parents and siblings as well they feel like they have no one else to go to. And they think they are not good enough because what the outsiders tease them with is the same as what their parents are saying. It is not that they start hating themselves because of what their parents say. It becomes much more because what their parents say strengthens the arguments of the outsiders that bully them. Such behaviour from parents encourages the children to self beat themselves and start loosing their confidence.

@LadyMacBeth : That;s great. I also have interest in medical :)
Yes I agree being overweight is dangerous but being doctor you shall also understand some people become overweight, and then its hard for them to reduce weight. Gaining weight is very easy but not reducing it.I don't know how can people even bully and make fun of fat people? Its total out of humanity.
🤓

@Jot : I agree Jot. Are you telling as physiologic student or have experienced it? But whatever it is. I agree. This is a very sensitive issue. An overweight person is bullied outside, and if he hears same thing from parents, then it really leads for a person to lose self-confidence. But according to parent's PoV, if they tell him to lose weight, they do it for his own benefit.So that in future, no one has opportunity to insult him.
.I don't know how can people even bully and make fun of fat people? Its total out of humanity.🤓 They call themselves COOL making fun of such people. Its totally inhuman of them to do that, because these people are medically ill people. And some people even have such thinking that a fat person can do NOTHING. He needs a humanity check. Some people also think fat people aren't cute. They might not be as beautiful as think sticks but then I have seen many overweight people who are cute.

I don't believe everyone has to be a size zero to be cute.

I'm not even sure why all of sudden the character weight is a problem in the show and I for one don't find any humor in it. Once in awhile Misha used to mention it but after leap I hear it all the time. I think in the first leap episode paanchi mention about being on a diet and I thought this got to be a joke cause she looks the same. I hope the cv tune down the weight part in the show.

See this is where the problems lies, the parents are not trying to humiliate their child but that is not how the child takes it as. For the child who gets bullied outside, he/she wants to be loved and be told what the bullies are doing to them is wrong. But imagine when the child comes home and the parent asks them to lose weight. The parent may not say that in a loud voice and they may not even mean it in a bad way but yet to the child it will feel like oh so my parents agree with what the bullies say to me everyday. The only difference here is the bullies say it in much harsher tone than parents and that is what breaks the child. For them they start thinking they are not worth being loved by anyone else because everyone tells them they need to change themselves to be able to be loved by someone else.

@ Mahi - I don't have any personal experience but I have looked into the issue as a psychology student (: Even those people that you are terming as inhumane for insulting these overweight people have issues of their own. They too have very low self esteem thus they bully others so they can feel they are in control. To hurt someone else puts them higher than them because now they have someone to look down on. This is a very sensitive issue you see for both the victims and the abusers. They both suffer from same issues and the only difference is how they deal with the issue. And to be honest there are some bullies who only do all this to "fit" in with the popular crowd at school. For these kids they don't want to be the one being bullied so they become part of the bullying group because it easy to pick on someone else rather than having them pick on you.
