Piya : Agar main kisi pahaad se kood jaaoon to?
She was drugged. She was drunk dead. She was slipping into a numb unconsciousness. She didn't know where she was . She didn't know what had just happened with her and what her Angel had just prevented. She could barely keep her eyes open and her body was giving away. Every neuron in her head was screaming 'sleep'. But no'. she kept awake. She refused to fall into deep slumber , she refused to let go of him. She refused to leave his veil and she refused to buy any of his arguments . She couldn't coherently hear what he was saying ' she couldn't see his face except for her favourite pair of eyes'. But Piya did not care. She cared two hoots about what state she was in or what sad lectures Abhay was giving her. All she cared about and all that she could feel or remember was that her Angel was here. She was safe in his arms , cradled like a baby whom no cold wind could touch . For her , there was no safer place ' there was no warmer touch. Once again, Piya was home.
What followed between Abhay and Piya makes you feel terrible and kind of tugs at your heart. Feeling bad for Abhay is a norm because he is a child of pathos and suffering. But the person you feel the worst for , in today's episode is Piya. Her innocence , her vulnerability , her hurt , her deep seated depression and her longing to be with Abhay or rather her Angel comes gushing out in her drugged emotional stupor. You realize that under all the Calvin Kleins, Papa's Princess , Rich Spoiled Kid , aggressive hottie facade , she is just a lost little girl who misses something terribly inside and she doesn't even know what it is. Somehow, this lamb innocence and her delicate pathos comes alive the moment Abhay surfaces.
As Abhay beats up the gruesome foursome to pulp and carries away Piya from them and the car , like a fragile Arabic princess who could be bruised even by a flower ''Piya , her eyes drooping , fights against her own consciousness and looks up at him. She is not scared anymore , she has no impact of what just happened with her and what could have happened with her . He is here and she is in his arms . Within a blink of an eye, Piya's whole world changes. The drugged drink , the harrowing drive with those perverts and the trauma of what danger she was in , is forgotten.
The Piya inside Piya knows that nothing can happen to her . No harm can come to her . No biting wind can touch her. Because he is there . Around her. Always. So, no wonder , like last time , she holds his veil and tells him that she knew he would come. Somewhere she knew that he would come for her from any part of the world. And Abhay , both touched and wounded by her innocence wants to roll his eyes at destiny that here he is trying to stay away from her , fighting her thoughts and their love ' but result? Piya jumps into trouble with a red carpet invitation and he is triggered by destiny to go and save her.
Piya , all her vulnerability , innocence and longing raising head asks him that why can't he stay here with her? Why does he come only when she is in trouble? Why can't she see his face to know who her savior is? What is their relationship ? Above all'. Why are we not together? Why can't we be together? You stay here with me. I need you. Please don't leave me and go.
Abhay tells her what he has told her since time immemorial but I don't think anything of that registered in her mind. She was in a daze ' half from the drug and half from the sight and feeling of him. I am just relieved that he did not repeat that whole ' main aag hoon' saga 'coz that would have taken away the sensitivity and subtle pathos of the scene. All he could tell her to pacify her was that he is always going to be with her '.. rest is immaterial.
But did Piya really listen to him? Did she actually follow what he said ? Did she even care about his excuses , his logics and his sermons? I think NO.
For all the pacifying words and promises that Abhay gave Piya , what did Piya have to say in return?
" Agar main kisi pahaad se kood jaaoon to?"
It was not a threat to bring Abhay running to her at her beck and call. No. It was a question that had risen from her heart that was it the only way to keep him with her? That she should endanger herself? That she should herself jump into the sea if trouble doesn't come seeking her? If this is how he will be with her , she is ready for it. Even in that drugged state , Piya could think of saying something like that. Scary .
And Abhay? He understood what she was hinting at. He did get scared and worried , and that showed in his plead that she must promise him that she will not do any such nonsense. She is not going to jump off cliffs like a madwoman and she is not going to land herself into trouble just to see him. Abhay knows her guts better than she knows them. If she could set herself afire to know Abhay's truth , then, she can very well jump off mountains just to see him.
So, the dark knight left the princess with a kiss on her forehead ''leaving her with a promise that he is right here. With her. For her. Always.
In that one brilliant shot where Piya is lying unconscious on the road and Abhay dissolves into darkness , you know that just why this couple is epic. It's the bond between them . A bond that unhinged their souls the day they crossed paths with each-other. Together or not ' they live for each-other , if not with each-other.
The strange part? For that whole 3 minute scene ( with intercuts ) , you just had that close shot of Abhay and Piya. One frame. You couldn't see Abhay's face at all except the eyes and Piya was not even in her senses. The dialogues were better but not all that great. YET. The scene was all magic . It's poignancy , especially on Piya's part speaks volumes.
I don't know how Abhay thinks that Piya will not recognize him as the Angel? She knows her Angel through his eyes - infact , Piya has always been besotted with Abhay's eyes.
At the end of the episode, the thought does cross your mind ' Abhay , if nothing else, give Piya back to Piya. You don't want to go back to her , fine. But let Piya go back to Piya.
Oh and there was one dialogue of Abhay that I think was beautiful .
" Mujhe hamesha tumhaari har pukaar sunaayi degi. "
P.S- I think Jay was adorable today. He understood and admitted his mistake of provoking Piya and more than that he was not rude or cutting to her like last time when she recovered . Especially when he pacifies her in the car by patting her head to settle her unrest and mumbling over Abhay. There was something very sweet about it.
