Panchi not in the mood for love-indya.com

Panchi Dobriyal, who has been hurt in love twice over, is not looking for a relationship in STAR One's prime time show Pyaar Ki Ye Ek Kahaani. With a chic new haircut and cool clothes, Panchi just wants to have fun. We spoke to Panchi aka Vahbiz Dorabjee about the show, her fashion sense, love, relationships and more.

What's your take on love, relationships, and friendship?

As of now, I am not in the mood for love. After my broken relationships, I don't want complications in life. I just want to have fun. My heart is numb, and I am feeling lost. As for love in general, I believe in it and want to be in love one day - but not today. I value the relationships I have and give them my best. I have loving, caring friends, and I cherish those relationships.

You have had two failed relationships. How do you look back on them?

I feel sad when I think about them. It hurts, but one has to move on. As I said, I feel numb, so I am bereft of feelings. After being back-stabbed twice, it is tough to get over it. I don't feel like opening my heart out to anyone now. I don't want to trust another person and be affected in any manner whatsoever.

Do you believe once bit twice shy- in love?

Of course. In my case, twice bitten, and god knows how many times shy. I have learnt a hard lesson in life about love and romance.

What's your idea of a perfect partner?

Someone you feel connected to, feel like you share a soul, someone you can laugh, cry, play, share life, memories, stories with. Of course, the other qualities one usually thinks of, that he should be understanding, caring, loving, sensitive - all apply as well.

Are you scared of falling in love again?

Right now, maybe yes, I am scared, but I don't know about the future.

What is love for you?

Love is being yourself with a person and sharing your life with him. Love is living in a state of bliss.

What advice would you give to people who have failed in love?

I can relate to Panchi's story, as I have been through such a state in my personal life too. I have been back-stabbed, and here, I play a role of a girl who has been betrayed in love. When you are deceived, it is unfathomable to give your heart to another person again, but many people just go on a rebound. They think that jumping into another relationship will ease their lives and soothe their pain, but it doesn't. You just end up being miserable. My advice is that you should heal yourself before you go on to any other relationship. I did that. It took me 2-3 years to be healed. So, take your time, give yourself time; it will work in the long run.

What are the similarities between the character Panchi and Vabhiz?

I am as loving and giving in relationships and family as Panchi is. We both love completely and value our relationships a lot. Both of us are outgoing people and believe in being friendly. When I make a friend, that person is a friend for life. We give it our 200%.

Compare your old and new look…

There is no comparison, as my new look took a 360 degree turn from my older one. The earlier one was kurtas and long skirts and totally Indian, while this new chic look is western with tops and jeans, pants et al.

What are you enjoying the most about your new look?

My haircut. I thought it would be refreshing to have a smashing new hair cut, and I am glad it worked. The new look is more me, as I love wearing western outfits in real life. So, as I am more comfortable in western dresses and jeans etc., I feel more confident and buoyant on screen.

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion means comfort to me. People blindly follow fashion, but they don't understand that everyone has a different body type. You should be comfortable in what you wear, and be able to carry it off. In an attempt to copy the latest fashion trends, instead of covering up your flaws, people end up highlighting them.

Which are your most preferred accessories?

I love earrings the most. In my daily wear, I keep accessories to a minimum, but always add one chunky piece - be it a watch, a neck piece or a bracelet.

Is there any particular brand that you opt for when you go shopping?

I do end up picking the best of what's available in the market. I do buy a lot of stuff from Guess - mostly bags.

Which is your favourite shopping destination?

Thailand and London. Both seem like home. I have been to Thailand numerous times, and shopped in all malls possible – MBK and Robinson, and I even shopped in Pattaya. As for London, I go there when I can, and my mom has shopped for me from there. Thankfully, her tastes match mine, so it is cool.

How brand-conscious are you?

I go for value for money than brand. I choose products that suit me. As you grow in life and realise what suits you and what doesn't, you do end up picking up stuff that looks best on you. I don't mind if something is of a particular brand or not, but I don't go shopping looking for a brand in particular.

What advice would you give to audiences about fashion?

Don't follow fashion blindly. Wear what suits you. Comfort comes first, and fashion can follow later.

Whom do you consider as a fashion icon? Why?

I love Kareena Kapoor, as she wears cool outfits, smart dresses and chic clothes. I love the dresses that she wears. Of late, I have been admiring Sonam Kapoor as well, who can carry off anything well.

Which is your favourite vampire film? Why?

I have seen Twlight and loved it. Recently, Vivian got the DVDs of the tv show Vampire Diaries, which I have been watching and enjoying too.

How is the experience of working with the cast of Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani?

Superb. We all get along like a house on fire. I will always cherish the moments I spent on this show. Other than Vivian, I was close to Sidhant, who is no longer in the show. I also am very friendly with Papia Sengupta, who plays my mom, and Arnab, who plays my dad on screen.

What do you like about Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani?

I love that Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani is a story with a difference. This dark love story of star-crossed lovers is spectacular and engaging.

Do you think, as STAR One is a youth channel, your character has a better connect?

Of course. It was my dream to work on STAR One, as I was a fan of shows like Dil Mil Gaye, Jaane Pechane Se Ajnabi and Miley Jab Hum Tum. As a youth channel, not only do STAR One shows appeal to the youth, but because they are watching it at home, so are the kids and the parents.
