'I'm a very messy person when it comes to eating'- Sukirti Kandpal

Sunday, June 13, 2010 | 10:50:50 AM IST (+05:30 GMT) 'I'm a very messy person when it comes to eating'- Sukirti Kandpal

Sukirti shares her food fads with Tellybuzz...

One particular dish you can never say no to?

Rasmalai and Dahi Wada

Your favorite ghar ka khaana?

My mom is a very good cook but I especially love her mushroom curry and paneer curry.

Do you favor any specific cuisine?

Yes, Chinese.

Do you cook?

Yes, I'm a good cook. I learnt it from my mom.

How good are you at recognizing spices?

I'm very good at recognizing spices.

Which is the highest tab you've had to settle?

Actually whenever I've been out, my friends have never let me pay. I think it's because I eat less. I eat six times a day. But I eat less every time, so maybe my friends felt like she ate so less why should she pay.

How specific are you about table manners?

Actually I myself am a very messy person when it comes to eating. I keep dropping foodstuff and most of my dresses have been stained thanks to my careless way of eating. But when it comes to other people I'm very specific about table manners…because they kind of make your impression.

What do you do for midnight cravings?

The nutrition bars like Horlicks or anything that's small and sweet that can keep me through the night.

Strangest dish you have ever tried?

Well I went to Royal China where they serve authentic Chinese cuisine. I'm more used to the Indianized version of Chinese food. So we had ordered momos and their texture, taste and color everything was so different! Back in Nainital we have these Tibetan momos that are just amazing. But these were something we just couldn't eat, no offence to Royal China though…

Favorite drink.

Whey protein shake

Your tips for a healthy diet?

Eat at small and regular intervals so that the sugar level in your blood is maintained properly. Don't starve yourself and don't overeat too. Maintain a healthy balance!

Love-letters to Moms!

Sunday, May 09, 2010 | 11:03:00 AM IST (+05:30 GMT) Love-letters to Moms!

Tellybuzz wishes all its readers a Happy Mother's Day!

Mother is someone to whom praises are just not enough. The way she brings her children up with tender loving care, that fair share of admonition and the good dose of worldly wisdom, is just splendid.

Many or say most of times, a mother is taken for granted. Her affection gets back indifference. But deep inside everyone knows no one can replace 'mom'. And if it weren't for her, our lives would've been a lot more deprived.

Our telly celebs voice their love for their moms on this Special Occasion of Mother's Day…
Sukirti Khandpal:

Tell us about your mother in a sentence.
She's a very dedicated, hardworking, sweet mother and I'm very blessed to be born to her.

Tell us about a time when something your mother did moved you to tears…(this doesn't include fights).
She always keeps the whole family's priority ahead of her priorities. That almost always moves me to tears.

What is the worst threat you've received from your mother?
When I was young I always used to get beaten up…now that I've grown she doesn't even scold me.

Do you resemble your mom?
Nooo. Unfortunately no…she's a very pretty lady.

What traits have you inherited from her?
Her hardworking nature and I guess temper too.

What's your special message to her on Mother's Day?
I love you mamma, thank you for being there for me always.

'Agle Janam has a better viewership' - Sukirti Khandpal

Monday, April 19, 2010 | 4:16:15 PM IST (+05:30 GMT) 'Agle Janam has a better viewership' - Sukirti Khandpal

Sukirti Khandpal who essays the role of Siddheshwari in Zee TV's Agle Janam in a conversation with TellyBuzz..

Sukirti Khandpal who is still addressed as Ridhima of Star One's Dill Mill Gaye is all the more happy essaying the role of Siddheshwari in Zee TV's Aagle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo…

Here is Sukirti Khandpal in a lively conversation with TellyBuzz..

Your character of Siddheshwari is turning grey in Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo. So what's your take on it?
I think it's going really nice and both as an actor and as a human, one gets bored performing monotonous roles. So a change always adds up to the excitement in the journey of life.

And as per the negativity of the character is concerned, I feel it is not negative on the whole; she is just a part of the wrong things happening around. Siddheshwari is a person who is deprived of many things with respect to her family prestige, and as a human she is just retaliating back.

You were lately seen performing a scene where you were drunk. So how was the experience?
It was nice and a different experience altogether. The only disadvantage was that we had to consume lot of Pepsi (smiles). I am glad that I could give the shot without consuming alcohol.

How do you think your character transition will enhance the present track of the serial?
I think it's filling up the essence of drama in the serial and every new twist takes the track to a different level.

Your fans are still awaiting your comeback on Dill Mill Gaye (DMG), so are there any chances of that happening?
Well actually, they haven't approached me as of now. And I personally feel that the present track in the show is taking absurd turns, and I don't wish to re-join the serial at this juncture. I am sorry to disappoint my fans but I think I had been a part of DMG at its best time, and I hold no regrets for the same.

With whom do you think you share a better on-screen chemistry, Karan Singh Grover or Abhishek Rawat?
As per the popularity factor is concerned, I feel my on-screen chemistry was much better with Karan. But I share more comfort and fun working with Abhishek, both on screen as well as off screen. He's not troublesome in any way.

So did you face any troubles while working with Karan?
(smiles) I can't comment on that.

What was your idea of taking up this role of Siddheshwari after DMG?
Firstly every actor wishes to take up different characters; so I wanted to experiment with my acting skills. Secondly when I was approached for this serial it had a TRP of 3.5 and now it has reached 5, so why not be a part of such a serial. Also the character allowed me to retain my original hair texture, so I was more than happy (smiles).

Now how much do you miss being on the sets of DMG?
Frankly I don't miss it much because the youth based fun and frolic was present only on-screen, while off-screen there used to be lot of confusions on sets. In fact I have more fun on sets of my ongoing serial, and our present enjoyment has over powered all my past memories.

Could you share any memorable incident on the sets of DMG?
I remember the happy time spent with Dr. Kirti aka Sonia Singh.

Any craziest fan mail you have received as of now?
On my Birthday last year, three girls named Neha, Diya and Divya from Delhi sent me a copy of their self written book 'Ehsaas'; it is based on the story of DMG. I was so touched to receive it that I'm still in regular contact with them on a social networking site.

Do people still relate to you as Ridhima?
Yes of course they do. They even sob and enquire about the reasons for leaving DMG, but it's quite flattering.

Do you think that the character of Siddheshwari has created equal excitement in your fans?
I'll leave it to the fans to comment on that. All I have to say is that Agle Janam has a better viewership, as it appeals to the audience of all age groups.

What do you think was the strength of Ridhima's character and that of Siddheshwari?
Ridhima I feel was very level-headed, calm, loving and sweet. Siddheshwari on the other hand is very amusing, completely in love with herself.

What kind of roles are you planning to work on in future?
I wish to get associated with a youth based show, young in all aspects, and would prefer to get a very bubbly, fun character, something more close to myself.

What are you passionate about apart from acting?
I love travelling, especially road trips. I think road journeys are the best; I love to rest at the roadside Dhabas, eat there, ask for lift from commuters when your vehicle fuel tank goes low. I mean all this is splendid experience. Apart from this, I love shopping. I am planning to make a trip to Dubai and London very soon.

How did acting happen to you?
Basically from a young age I always wanted to get into modelling, and my dad was a bit against this aspiration of mine. He wanted me to pursue MBA, but my mom always supported me.

But I never knew how to go about it. And one day it so happened that I was in Mumbai at Leopold Caf and a creative of DMG asked me to audition for the role of Ridhima. I did it and got rejected. Later he approached me again for the show Jersey No.10 on SAB TV. Months after this, I got a call at around 12.30 in the midnight from DMG team, for the same character and I bagged it. And I felt as if I was just destined for that role of Ridhima (smiles).

Any message to your fans
I would like to thank them for their support and love. Whatever I have achieved today is all due to their support. I would also like to apologize if I have disappointed them in any way, and I promise to keep entertaining you with more convincing characters.

"I miss DMG but not that much!" Sukirti Khandpal

Friday, November 20, 2009 | 1:32:22 PM IST (+05:30 GMT) "I miss DMG but not that much!" Sukirti Khandpal

As Tellybuzz wishes Sukirti a very happy birthday, she takes pleasure in speaking her heart out…

Sukirti has definitely achieved what her name stands for- Good Fame.

Her fans love her to death and on occasion of her birthday, she helps fulfil their wish of 'a long interview of Sukirti by Tellybuzz'
Over to the gorgeous Sukirti Khandpal...

Everybody makes some resolutions with the beginning of a New Year in their lives. Have you?
Yeah I have (laughs), to go to the gym. And I'm not going to break this resolution. The other one is to take good care of my skin because it gets tanned very easily.

Today is the day of lots of cake-cuttings for you. Which is your favourite flavour?
Black forest! And oh, I like Dutch truffle too (smiles).

How has the past year been?
It has been very eventful. I left Dill Mil Gaye to join Agle Janam. I became the official model for PC Chandra Jewellers. I made a lot of new friends. I got some added time to spend with my family. So yes…was quite a year!

Was there any learning experience?
Well, I learnt that if you are sincere in your work, it might not get recognised immediately but over the time, it would be. I also bought myself a house in the suburbs. So I learnt all about loans and paperwork and many other things involved in buying a house. My eyes have opened to the financial nuances.

So how have you changed since the past year as a person?
I have become more mature and I've changed into… sort of a thinking person. If you ask my colleagues they would tell you that most of the times I'm lost in thoughts, and that they have tagged me 'Auntiji'.
Also my sister met with an accident, and it jolted me to the real world. I gladly shouldered my responsibilities and now I understand that there's a lot more in this world. I've just turned 22 and already I've seen fame, suffering, appreciation of strangers who love you unconditionally (sighs)…Normally a girl my age would've still been in college. But not me. I have a bigger horizon. I feel I'm mentally 30!

Did you learn any new skills in the past year?
Umm…I haven't. I know I should've but I guess I was just lazy and stupid (laughs). (repeats to believe it)Gosh! I didn't learn any new skills in the past year!

After being in a youth oriented show, why jump on to something rustic like Agle Janam?
Well, even though DMG was a youth oriented show, Riddhima was much older than I was. She was 27 while I was 21 then. She was simple, sober, and would easily break down and that was so unlike me. On the other hand Siddheshwari can do anything. Giggle anytime, be kiddish, and that was more like me. In spite of the fact that I could relate to Riddhima's language more than Siddheshwari's, when it came to character, the latter matched me more. And an added perk was that they let me do it in my curly hair (smiles) and in DMG I had to wear a wig. I always wanted to do a part with my real hair!

But doesn't the heady drama affect you?
Well, it does. Portraying this role did present its challenges to me. Especially to say the lines in Bihari. But what's important is for your work environment to be positive. And all of the actors of Agle Janam are so humble, it was shocking at first! So I really enjoy my work hours and it helps me keep going in spite of the heavy script.
I know things were different in DMG where we could improvise. You know, add a cool line here and another there. The dialogues were casual like- Oh my God Armaan! But here I can't do that. How can I when I don't even know the language properly? And there we would have events like basketball match but here it would be a puja.

So you do miss DMG…
Of course I miss DMG because every young actor would enjoy working for a youth based show. But here (in Agle Janam) off-screen we have our own fun. We keep cracking jokes during lunch time or whenever we are free. So yes, I miss DMG but… not that much!

Are you still in touch with your DMG co-stars?
Yes, in fact I wished Mayank on his birthday that falls on the 14th of November. Sonia has always been my good friend and we keep calling each other. Even Drishti and I are still in touch.

How did you feel, when you were linked with Abhishek Rawat?
(Laughs heartily) Oh my God! Please put this in red letters, that if my phone has 100 contacts then 90 of them are boys. Because I myself behave more like a tomboy and so, I get along more with boys rather than with girls. Since they don't know who I'm going out with, any boy that I'm spotted with off-screen is romantically linked with me. I just want to say please leave Abhishek out of this. He is a good friend and he need not get dragged in such stupid speculations.
I think this happened because I was spotted at Inorbit mall shopping with him. When I'm giving my shots with Abhishek amidst twenty people, that's okay. But if I'm shopping with Abhishek with 2000 people around, oh that's not okay! Because that's not work? I think people need to open their minds a little wider to understand the fact that a guy and a girl can go out shopping without any romantic interest whatsoever.

So would you let us know you are going out with…
(Laughs) No. You can rest assured that it's not going to be someone from the industry anyways. I'm a girl who does a lot of things that most other girls don't. So I want a guy who can understand that and not try to stop me from doing what I like. I'm looking for someone who is genuine and gives me my freedom.

Lastly, a message to your fans.
Fans really matter to me. I don't know if you'll believe this but I always read each and every comment that they write about me on India-forums. Sometimes I see that they are fighting for my position in like the top five and it's really overwhelming. They love me so much... its an amazing feeling (sighs)! I just hope I am able to give them back something credible enough through ways of my acting (smiles).

Once again , we wish Sukirti a very Happy Birthday and a wonderful and funfilled year ahead!

Sukirti's passion for jewelry

Friday, February 26, 2010 | 7:12:31 PM IST (+05:30 GMT) Sukirti's passion for jewelry

Sukirti Khandpal aka Siddheshwari of Zee's Agle Janam tells us how she can't get enough of jewelry…

If not an actor, Sukirti Khandpal swears she would've been a jewelry designer, because she loves everything about them.

Sukirti tells us, "If not an actress I would have definitely been a jewelry designer. I love them and I think I pretty much know everything about them. My curiosity about all the precious stones and the different kinds of art when it comes to crafting jewelry made me learn everything about it. I know about their cut, carat, clarity and the other nuances that are involved when it comes to jewelries. I love diamonds and have gifted myself loads of diamond rings. I also am fond of the jadau type of jewelry."

Apparently, Sukirti wants to formalize her passion. She tells us, "I want to study jewelry designing from a proper institute. But we have such weird schedules I don't how I'm going to attend the classes (laughs)."

Interior designing is another thing that makes Sukirti's creative juices flow. "I do have an interest in interior designing. When it comes to doing up a place, I know exactly what I want. I like the British style of interiors…very classy…you know a Victorian touch. I like the pastel shades, huge beds and crystal chandeliers. I really don't like the Indian way for interiors," she signs off.

Sukirti and Vindhya's 'food basket' keeps them going..

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 | 4:17:45 PM IST (+05:30 GMT) Sukirti and Vindhya's 'food basket' keeps them going..

The glamor girls of Zee TV's Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, Sukirti Khandpal and Vindhya Tiwari prefer carrying their own basket of hygeinic food for shoot...

Siddeshwari aka Sukirti Khandpal and Jamuni aka Vindhya Tiwari, the well known actors of the Zee TV show 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo' prefer carrying their own basket of hygienic food for their shoot…

In today's fast-paced, fast-food culture, it's all too easy to starve your body of the nutrition it requires. And if one has to stay away from home for most time of the day due to professional reasons, then for them remaining healthy is a greater task. But then we also have people in the television industry like Sukriti and Vindhya who against all odds have found ways to keep themselves healthy.

When inquired with Sukriti she gleefully replied that, "I'm very hygiene and calorie conscious and prefer carrying all my nutritional food from home itself".

Also she strictly consumes protein rich diet which she feels stays missing in the food served on sets. Ask her about the items that her food basket comprises of and she is quick to say, "Bread, fruits, biscuits, Paratha's and Bhaji, roti cooked specially by my mother are enough for all the cast members. I am also a coffee and cheese sandwich lover, so to fulfill this need I even carry a coffee kitten and toaster and prepare it myself, whenever I feel like having some". She even giggled saying that, "Shekhar aka Abhishek Rawat and other co-actors love her egg bites sandwich".

Later when we articulated with Vindhya Tiwari aka Jamuni, she did accede to the health and hygiene conscious quotient and added that, "Even I carry Tropicana fresh juices and seasonal fruits and sprouts occasionally. The boy who comes with me to the sets cooks amazing sprout salad that's loved by all. Healthy food in fact keeps me energetic even during the hectic schedules and helps me deliver my best".

In short, the glam girls Sukirti Khandpal and Vindhya Tiwari are happy when they come to the sets with their food basket, and also have a merry time sharing it with each other. Also the food basket which was laughed on by the co-actors earlier, is now indeed what the same people eagerly wait on for during every shoot.

It's Holi-day!

Monday, March 01, 2010 | 12:53:05 PM IST (+05:30 GMT) It's Holi-day!

It's the festival of Colors, Holi that we celebrate today!! And Telly Buzz pushed some of our favorite Telly Stars for some honest answers...

Holi is here! Our country's most colorful and vibrant festival, Holi never misses to spread cheer. Colors, the most integral part of Holi, are amazing! They have the capacity to denote emotions and express more than words. They brighten up our lives if used in the right way. As a signal they avert danger. Without them even nature would not have been so beautiful.

Tellybuzz substituted colors for the different faces we find among humans-

White for the perfect protagonist.
Black for the intimidating antagonist.
Yellow for the sunshine spreading comedian.
Red for the hottest actor.
Blue for the most chilled out actor.
Pink for the baby-cute face on television.
Green for the evergreen actor.
Orange for a bubbly character or actor.

We questioned some of our TV stars on who they can most associate with the colors, based on the given idea. Honest answers, no diplomacy were the only two conditions (wink). Their answers were just as multi-faceted as colors themselves!

Sukirti Khandpal:

White - Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory
Black - Mandark from Dexter's Laboratory
Yellow - Kavita Kaushik in FIR
Red - Abhishek Rawat
Blue - Abhishek only!
Pink -Deedee from Dexter's Laboratory
Green - Rupa Ganuguly
Orange - Siddheshwari (laughs)

Patented Patriotism!

Tuesday, January 26, 2010 | 3:41:22 PM IST (+05:30 GMT) Patented Patriotism!

On this Republic Day, let us try to renew the emotion of patriotism within us…

26th of January is officially India's Republic Day. Tellybuzz asked some of our telly actors to share with us their thoughts and actions on true patriotism.
Over to them...

Sukirti Khandpal:

Tell us any one incident or something you did which made you feel unusually patriotic?
Yeah…I'll tell you there's one incident that I remember very clearly. I was at the Breach Candy Club where I saw this group of foreigners who were telling bad things about India. And they were actually British! I don't know what happened to me then, I just went upto them and said, listen you can't just go on saying things like this. Especially standing on Indian soil. And moreover whatever you have you got it from us. So, the fact that I spoke up to defend my country made me feel very patriotic.

Suggest 5 things that people can do to be more responsible citizen of India?
Please don't dirty our country…keep it clean. Stand for national anthem…it upsets me to see that many people don't stand for the National Anthem in movie theatres. Don't badmouth our country…our country is the most free country and its time we start appreciating it. Buy more Indian products…especially when it comes to cosmetics; we go for foreign brands because we feel they are better as they are priced high but I don't think it's that way. Contribute to the country…I feel if everyone does their best then our country will have tremendous growth.
