At Dobriyal House…
There is a lot of hustle and bustle at Dobriyal mansion with Madhu making everyone run around – the waiters , the decorators , the servants. Arnab is on phone , ordering everyone around while Pancchi is getting ready in her room. Piya has arrived early and is looking splendid in a pink corset and lehenga . She is running after Misha with a lovely maroon Indo-western dress who in turn is holding a knife to her own throat , threatening to commit suicide. Misha just gives her a bored look and continues doing her eye make up.
Misha ( screaming )- Piya! Get that maroon rag out of my sight. There is no way I will go to the party wearing that sack, okay?
Pancchi ( irritated )- Misha, you can look NORMAL at least for your sister on her big day. I don't want guests asking Mom and Dad that why we put up a Frankenstein show when they look at you.
Piya ( snatching the knife from a tantrum –prone Misha)- Exactly! And Madhu aunty has given you just 15 minutes. Now, go and get ready. Or else she has sworn to keep you out in the snow tonight!
Misha puckers her lips in child-like brattitude and snatches the dress from Piya and goes into the changing room. Just then, Kabir comes in and whistles at the sight of two beautiful ladies.
Kabir ( keeping a hand on his heart )- Pancchi! Marry me. Don't break my heart… I swear I will keep you much happier than that Danish!
Pancchi ( laughs)- Too late, dude. I am Danish's …..and you might run into trouble with your girlfriend Piya .
Piya pretends to be angry and Kabir , winking at her , slides his arm around her waist and pulls her closer .
Piya ( keeping a hand on his chest to maintain the distance )- Kabir! What are you doing ?
Kabir ( smiling at her )- Trying to make Pancchi jealous !
They all burst out laughing and just then, Pancchi's cellphone rings and she shows the caller's name to Kabir and Piya .
Pancchi – See! Danish has arrived in the parking and he is still calling me!.....I am happy with him, Kabir. Hard luck!
Kabir ( pretending to cry by burying his face in Piya's hair )- Mere dil ke tukde 1000 hue… ek yahaan gira,… aur ek hall mein T ko dekhkar waise hi girr gaya!
Pancchi shakes her head and goes to take Danish's call. Piya boxes Kabir's ears playfully.
Kabir- Oww! Piya! Domestic violence will not be tolerated.
Piya ( teases )- You should have thought that before checking out T!
Kabir ( shrugs his shoulders and adjusts his sherwani in the mirror )- Aha, I was kidding. That is Abhay's job. He is her boyfriend and… ( mischievously )… Abhay sure seems to have a fetish for hot women! Who says he is frigid!
Piya's face falls and her jaw tightens .
Piya ( roughly )- T is not that hot , okay?
Kabir looks puzzled and looks at her upset face.
Kabir ( putting his arms on her shoulders )- Awwwwww…. My little jealous cupcake! Okay, we leave T to Abhay and talk about us.
Piya – As in?
Kabir smiles and takes out a small red velvet box from his pocket and gives it in her hand. She opens it and there is a lovely platinum locket inside it . It is actually P & K written together and entwined. It looks beautiful. Piya feels a strange guilt looking at it but looks up at Kabir with a smile. He takes it from her hands and puts it around her neck lovingly.
Kabir ( sweetly )- See, this way , I will always be close to your heart.
Piya smiles at him again but her eyes look very lost as she touches the beautiful piece on her neck. Just then , the door of the dressing room is burst open and they both turn to look. Misha is looking gorgeous in the maroon outfit but her face is as red as a blotched tomato.
Kabir ( rubbing his eyes )- Misha? What are you doing in a woman's body?
Misha grabs Kabir by the arm and literally throws him out of the room. He is laughing . Piya looks at her in admiration.
Piya ( brightly )- Gorgeous! Why can't you look like a girl in your normal day-to-day life as well?
Misha ( slipping her feet into a pair of slim golden heels )- Piya, you won't look all that pretty if your front teeth go!... ( spots the locket in her neck from a distance )…. Hey! What is that 'A' doing in your neck?
Piya almost trips on her feet on hearing that looks at the classic P & K in her neck. Misha comes closer and looks at the locket carefully and then, smiles.
Misha ( slaps her own forehead )- Damn me! Haha… that's P&K…From there it looked like an artistic A !....Hmmm… Kabir is progressing well, huh?
Piya is touching the locket and has a faraway expression in her eyes. She remembers Abhay begging her to hate him and his emotional breakdown. Piya turns on her heels and goes out of the room.
Misha ( calling out )- Piya? Did I say something wrong? Piya?
Piya ( doesn't look back at her )- No, sweetz. I am.. I am just going downstairs to see if Arnab uncle or Madhu aunty need my help. Danish and guests have arrived…
Misha looks at the door after Piya is gone.
Misha ( thinking )- Abhay…. I said letter A.. and this chick's mind went to that moron. Gah!
Just then, Pancchi comes back after attending the call.She looks at Misha and runs and hugs her.
Misha ( irritated )- Birdie! It is your engagement , not your Bidaai! Get off and gluestick to your fianc .
Pancchi ( smiles)- I am a happy birdie today! So, you are forgiven.
Misha just rolls her eyes and struggles with the bangles to slip onto her wrists.
Piya runs out of the house , her heart pounding and face disturbed and she finds refuge under a tree behind the cars where nobody can see her. She remembers Misha mistaking the pendant to be an 'A' and Abhay discarding her over and over.
Piya ( disturbed )- I want to throw you out of my mind, Abhay. I know that you want me out too, for whatever reasons…. But then, why can't I fight it! There is nothing between us… there can be nothing between us as you said. Then, what is this emotional surge. Damn me! Why did I feel guilty when Kabir expressed his love… ( holds her head )… I am in this mess because of you, Abhay!
Just then, Piya hears some hissed whispers coming from a distance . She cranes her neck to see what is happening. She can see a well-dressed man and a woman behind a tree. They seem to be arguing. Piya narrows her eyebrows and follows the sound. The voices get closer.
Woman ( dismissively )- Oh, please! I am not here to beg you to take me back. I am here as a guest with the very people whom you have invited.
Man ( hisses)- I don't trust you. You have done enough drama already and if you try to spoil anything for me today , I will leave Sir to handle you.
Woman ( tearfully)- I wish I could do something to save that poor girl but I have to keep shut , so I will.
Man ( relaxes )- Cool. Now, you are cordially invited to my engagement party!
As the man turns , Piya is stunned to see Danish and Maya approaching her way and she has to cover her mouth to stop a shriek from escaping her. She goes behind the bushes and sees a smug Danish and a hurt-looking Maya enter the party.
Piya ( horrified )- Danish! … Danish? H-He is the father of Maya's baby? … Oh no! Pancchi! He is… he is going to marry Pancchi! And Maya? Maya is attending his engagement. What should I do now!
Just then, she sees a sleek black Mercedes pull up from the gates. It stops and she sees the Raichands get down alongwith Anushka. They all are dressed in dashing black except Anushka who looks stunning in an orange sari teamed with a strappy backless.
Piya ( gets an idea )- Abhay…
As the Raichands enter the party , Abhay's cellphone rings and he excuses himself. The rest of them go inside.
Abhay looks at his cellphone and it's Piya's number flashing. He debates whether to pick the call or not as Piya crosses her fingers at a distance hoping that Abhay will take her call. With a sigh , Abhay takes the call.
Abhay ( flatly )- Piya, am nominating you for Stalker of the year award.
Piya ( urgently )- Abhay, it is very urgent. I need to speak to you rightaway. It is about Maya and Pancchi! And there is nobody else I can talk to…
Abhay ( his eye brows narrow )- Maya and Pancchi? ….where are you?
Piya ( softly )- Right behind you.
Abhay turns around and he can see Piya's delicate petite form near a tree – her pink clothes glittering in the moonlight. Abhay walks upto her.
Abhay ( looks at her with raised eyebrows)- What ?
Piya takes his arm and almost pulls him into the shadows as there are people coming and going. She can see Kabir and Misha at a window of the mansion.
Abhay ( puzzled)- What are you doing, stalker?
Piya ( restless and anxious )- I am taking precautions. I have something important to tell you and I don't want Kabir or T to see us and misunderstand.
Abhay ( smirks )- What is there to misunderstand? They will also come to know that you are nuts about me with your imbalanced hormones.
Piya ( disgusted )- Abhay, can we fight later? Listen to me. I have found out that the father of Maya's baby is Danish!... Danish , whom Pancchi is all set to marry. And Maya? She seems to have struck on some deal with Danish even though she is so hurt!.....i must do something!
Abhay listens to her and then , puts as hand on her shoulder calmly.
Abhay ( calming her)- Piya, Piya… relax! I got you. I understood you. Danish is the father . Maya has cowed down. Pancchi is marrying him. So?
Piya (looks at him wide eyed )- So? Are you freakin' dumb Abhay? Stop the engagement of course. I can't let Danish ruin Panchhi and the Dobriyaals ….and justice for Maya?
Abhay ( crossing his arms across his chest )- And how are you going to do it, young lady? By accusing and exposing Danish without any support or proof? Maya will not stand by you, I can tell you that much. She has decided to let go of him….
Piya is shocked that how can Abhay be so cool but she sees his point.
Piya ( tearfully )- Now what? I'd rather run off from here than witness this crap.
Abhay ( sternly )- Run away and cry into pillows… or else come in, watch the game , decide your moves and come up with a plan, Jaiswal.
Piya looks at him thoughtfully and at that moment , in a gust of wind , Piya's hair move from her neck and Kabir's present of love glitters on her neck. Abhay looks at it and his eyebrows narrow. Piya instantly covers her neck with her hand.
Piya ( faltering on words )- Plan…..perhaps, you are right. This is not the time to get emotional.. I need to use my senses…
Abhay ( gently removing her hand from her neck to look at the locket again )- That is what I have been saying for so long… use your senses ( smiles at the jewel but the smile doesn't reach his eyes )…. Beautiful…..Kabir ?
Abhay puts his finger on the pendant and Piya's heart skips a beat. Abhay , while talking to her is actually fingering her neck and collarbone along the lining of the jewel and Piya can actually feel the goosebumps. Abhay is just looking at the locket and his eyes seem angry.
Abhay ( without looking at Piya's face )- Kabir?
Piya is unable to see anything straight with Abhay that close and her fingers , unusually hot on her neck. She moves away with a pounding heart.
Piya ( defensively )- Yes!
Abhay ( lifts her face to force her to look into his eyes )- He really loves you, doesn't he?
Piya ( not looking at him )- We.. we were talking about Danish…
Abhay ( aggressively )- Do you love him?
Piya ( closing her eyes )- I do !
Abhay pins her to a tree and blocks her way.
Abhay ( stubbornly )- You do?
Piya ( stubbornly )- Yes!
Abhay ( turns her face towards him )- Say that again!
Piya ( wriggles to free herself )- Stop it , Abhay! Let me go. Kabir is my boyfriend and am supposed to love him!
As soon as Piya says that , Abhay lets her go. Piya breathes in relief but her cheeks are flaming red and her eyes filled with tears.Abhay looks away from her.
Abhay ( calmly )- Go inside…..
Piya (emotionally)- You are a liar, Abhay. You care. You care a hell lot about not what I think….but what I feel! …. ( turns him around )……there is something between us and it is not animosity!
Abhay looks at her with an intense expression and as she looks at him with a passionate face- a face demanding answers , he caresses her face with his tender hands ….and then , he bends over and kisses her. She looks at him, dazed. Abhay holds her face in his hands and touches her forehead with his own…
Abhay ( pensively )- I am not for you, Piya. Yet I cannot deal with the thought that you could be somebody else's ……am not supposed to love you. And you are not supposed to love me….this is all that you will remember. You will forget what happened between us here….( releasing her )… I hope you fall in love with Kabir….
Piya opens her eyes and finds herself at the party entrance…..she appears confused.
