Sooraj Thapar... The Perfect Actor & Son
Kayamath's Pranay aka Sooraj Thapar has been a busy man lately. Between rehearsals for his latest play The Perfect Wife with Poonam Dhillon and shooting for Kayamath, he also used to rush back home to take care of his ailing mother, who was on complete bed rest till sometime back. He chats with us about his plays, taking care of his mother and more…
"In The Perfect Wife, I play the character of a Bihari named Prakash who is married to a Punjabi named Tina. The story revolves around how a wife is told that she should not work after marriage but in the end she manages to prove otherwise." This play will first release in Dubai around mid-June.
This is Sooraj's second play with Poonam Dhillon. "I earlier worked with her in The Perfect Husband. It has completed 50 shows, 15 in the U.K," informs the actor.
So how was his experience working with Poonam Dhillon again? "She is a fine actress, very down to earth and knows the script very well. That's why she does her stuff in a systematic manner. It's a great fun to work with Poonamji."
Sooraj has also worked with Padmini Kolhapure in Abhi to Main Jawan Hoon. Speaking about her Sooraj says, "She is also a very good actress, co-operative and has even come with me for the outdoor shows in Dubai. I would like to work with her again."
Apart from his professional life, Sooraj has even taken over the responsibility of the household, especially the kitchen since his mom had taken very ill. However, it did not take much time for him to realise that he had a hard task on his hands.
Narrating his experience Sooraj says, "It was a tense period but in the meantime, my culinary skills have definitely improved. Now I feel more confident about preparing edible food."
"I have prepared butter chicken for myself and for my mom I made salads. So now I can enter the kitchen with confidence," reveals Sooraj.
His enthusiasm is praiseworthy as he managed to prepare three meals a day but then it did not last long. He soon screamed for help and sister Sangeeta came all the way from Delhi to Mumbai to chip in. It helped Sooraj in getting back to his normal schedule and their mother too is recovering well.
Fact file Sooraj Thapar has been in Tellywood for nearly two decades. He made his debut on the small screen way back in 1987 with Sridhar Shivsagar in a serial called Stree. Since then, he's gone on to do some very popular TV shows - Ajnabee, Hum Saath Aath Hain, Shri Shifarishilal, Daraar, Devi, Pyar Ke Do Naam Ek Radha Ek Shyam...
He was also the part of Resham Dankh on STAR One, which went off air last year.
