If you thought films inspire reality, you couldn't be more right. But even the most shock-proof of us all must have been stunned by a young Indian businessman's brazen offer of Rs 5 crore to sleep with another man's wife for a night! Yup, this actually happened a few weeks back in Northern India.

We asked some of our city celebs about the most appalling proposals they've been offered…

Pooja Bedi, actor
There haven't been any specific indecent proposals as such as mostly I have been surrounded by decent men. However, one day I was sitting at Olive with a cousin and a guy simply walks up to me and said, "Hi. I am xyz and I am a multi-millionaire." I had no clue whether it was a proposal for friendship or something else. I just burst out laughing and advised him not to repeat it elsewhere, no matter what he means.

I have faced such situations in my modelling career. People have thrown hints at me that if I compromise, I can reach higher. They make indirect sexual advances. I behaved as if I was too dumb to have understood what they meant. In another incident, the client's body language was too strong, he was being very physical. I cleverly excused myself from the situation. Strangely, in both cases I was accosted by men. I think in today's times, men are at more risk of being accosted.

I don't think there has been a woman who hasn't received an indecent proposal at her workplace or otherwise. I too have been at the receiving end. Once I had taken up the job of compering a show and a man made a pass at me. I walked out of the job and got the man thrown out by security at the event's after party.

I have no qualms about admitting that the casting couch is quite rampant in the film industry. I have had to face a couple of indecent proposals myself where I was to be given a role in return for sexual favours. I remember this was a few years ago when I was actively working in films. I just screamed and stomped out of the room. I may have lost out on a couple of movies but I am glad I walked out with my dignity intact.
