Pravinbhai ka koi comparison nahi , but yeah chirag has some qualities of Batuknath....a grey characer ( not exactly but idk how else to describe him) whose heart was on the right place.....he's in my top 5 characters in the show , and also one of the most practical character in the show....he was the only one who was insisting that the house should be in Baa's name....I'm still pissed off that everyone disregarded his geniune concerns...

Pravinbhai ka kid version maybe. True, he was actually very smart when it came to using his intellect to benefit not just his business, but his family too. Gattubhai pe apne bacchon se bhi bahut zyaada jaan chhidakta tha. He hated showing his emotional side, and it was heartbreaking to see him and the children when Pravina bhabhi died in the show. Could not bear to watch post that 😓

I dont think they disregarded his concerns specifically, but the moment Baa said she was not interested, they did not want to go against her wishes to support Pravinbhai. Leela bhabhi had also strongly agreed that she wanted Baa to be the owner of the house. But Baa ka kaha was patthar pe lakeer for the fam members na.

It's good how they pulled out the track. As expected it was Nelima who attacked her husband.

No that never materialised , even during the Baba bhai track and season 2 it was mentooned that the house still belonged to Gunwanti maami.....disregared in the sanse that whenever Praveen mentioned about it everyone dismissed the concern or started taking it as one of Pravin's quirks ; they stipped taking him seriously....i mean no one in real life would be such an emotional fool to give up their house ..what would've happened if Gunwanti maami's son asked them to vacate the house? The house was technically under their name , Baa couldn't have said anything , where would such a big family find shelter? This was one of theost illogical plot point in the show that was never brought up again in a serious sense...

And I believed all these years that Gunwanti Mami transfered it to Baa or Harshadbhai bought it from his cousin on Baa's name after Saumil got better, that's why they never brought it up 🙃🙈

Completely agree, they did dismiss him and his practical opinions after a point by labelling him as the luccha person! Mami may have been accomodating, her son obviously wont, especially when he knows there are 3 generations living in that house. Back when the show aired, the rights of a tenant were also so-so, the son could have threatened them to vacate unless they paid him some absolutely expensive x amount. Aise case mein kaun foi aur kaun uske bacche, kisko rishtein yaad aayenge?

I was on Pravinbhai's and Leela/Pravina bhabhi's side even when they asked why Hemal is not allowed to contribute part of his income to Baa if the family put in so much efforts to take care of him too. Rent logic aside, would have helped them a little more to run such a big family. Not like Hemal did not want to spend on them either, he did find other ways to include himself, sometimes buying stuff like firecrackers or sweets for the family members for the occassions too.

Exactly... except for Praveen , the entire Thakkar family were blind with emotions that they couldn't see the clear picture..

Even if they may have realised it, they were just trying to abide with what Baa wanted and did not pursue it further. If we ever got to see what happened to Thakkars in the future, for sure the kids would not have gotten to continue living in the haveli in the scenario that either Mami or Baa would have passed away. Yeh deal unke saath hi khatam samjhi jaati.

Even i was on Pravinbhai's side...idk about you but i never really liked Hemal, everytime i tried to like his character, he served an upteen number of reasons to hate him on a silver platter....this Gunwanti-Hemal duo almost divided the house in the Manav vs Mehul track. Praveena was right if Praveen had started this fight Baa would've thrown him out of the house in an instant (Ep 118-19). And the logical conclusion of this track should've been that Praveen realising that his self respect was tarnished and should've stopped all communications with Subodh and Hemal.

I did get mega annoyed with him and Mami, especially in the above scenario. Subodhbhai was being irrational too, agreed, but as a father, he got blinded to support his child and felt like he needed to do more to protect Meenaxi bhabhi from what he perceived as being injustice. Just like Pravinbhai-Pravina bhabhi and the sisters showed faith in Mehul. What was Hemal's reasoning to interfere in this? Kuch nahi, bas bias bias chillao coz the bhabhis did not get mind waves that it was his parent's death anniversary when he was being too demanding and ordering them around, and uska khunnas shayad unintentionally idhar nikal dia. The kids also had to suffer so much, especially since Manav realised his folly early on and even wanted to tell the truth, but the adults were being so angsty over everything that he then kept quiet. Even the impact on Mehul. They never really showed how that poor chap must've felt with his parents and family questioning his character multiple times. Mehul nalaayak tha, shaanpatti tha, lekin itna bhi kameena nahi tha (the OG Mehul ~ Devarsh). Mitali and Chaitali also affirmed that.

Arvindbhai and Leela bhabhi were also been dragged in the midst and then ended up having their own disagreements, though they initially really did not want to take any sides. Thank God for Baa, Baby and Gattubhai's efforts to reconcile the family or it would have continued to be WW3 in that house, and they would have eventually ended up living separately with Praveenbhai moving to Praveena bhabhi's house with the kids, Subodhbhai and Meenaxi bhabhi also sticking to only caring about Manav and their own needs, and the others would be caught up in trying to do a balancing act, where they would end up even alienating one side (like it happened in Harshadbhai's case before Soumil track).

And yes, in reality, living in a joint family is absolutely not a cakewalk, but when it is a family like the Thakkars who always knew how to coexist and celebrate despite all their differences, even their enemy would not wish them to be broken apart like this.

During Saumil track when everyone including the children were stressed with his condition, this shameless guy was pining over his crush faltu Falguni, also, who irrationally puts 2 crores in a share market? Emotional blackmailing ka baap hai yeh....his treatment of Gudiya was also horrible.....

I dont know much about his track with Gudiya, who I assume became his wife, since my family stopped watching after Praveena bhabhi died and the Thakkars read her letter, and never felt like watching beyond that point even on Hotstar, coz the show had lost the OG charm at that point. Even Mehul was replaced since Devarsh had entered 10th standard and needed to properly focus to be able to take his Board exams. But yes, Soumil and the family was going through crisis and Hemal's entire focus was on Falguni. Even the Iccha track with all the brothers acting like bhavraas and sidelining bhabhis, that was so irritating. The only fun third angle was the Jasu bhai one, because finally Arvindbhai showed some consideration to Leela Bhabhi and Dimple's wants and needs, and he even changed himself a little for the better.

Pravin bhai is right when it comes to Hemal "Maami ka jasoos" cause think about this ; Hemal is Baa's bhabhi's bhabi's son, and Baa was already poverty stricken with seven kids and technically it was never her responsiblity to raise Hemal , Gunwanti could've given a great life for him in the US but she gave Baa her house and in the form of a rent/debt repayment she passed the buck on to Baa to raise Hemal....I'm not agianst adoption, but in a real world who would do this? Aise toh Hemal ko jyada paisa dena hoga parivar ko cause Baa had to provide for him as well....aur woh hemal toh ehsaan faramosh nikla sigh....

Well maybe when they initially went to the US, Hemal may not have been an orphan, and/or when Hemal's parents died, Gunwanti Mami and co. were not able to come from the US to take him there. The 80s were not an ideal time to be able to constantly travel between countries, like we can today. Initially makes sense that she asked the favour from her SIL, because that is the only person she could have trusted to not desert Hemal, but yes, later she could have taken care of him too. Passport banwa ke de dete and wo chala jaata apne Foi ke paas. But Gunwanti Mami also was a chaapli, she knew if Hemal stays there, she can continue to have things under control. Ehsaan lo, ehsaan do. As for the real world, I have seen many such families where the children end up living with their grandparents for the initial few years, while their parents move to another city/abroad, set up and send money. Then once they establish themselves, the children also move in there with them.

And yes, absolutely did not see any reason why after he became capable, Hemal did not need to contribute to the family. It is not like they intentionally gave him less to eat or did not give him good clothes to wear or kept him out of their family functions. Infact the bhabhis even packed his tiffin everyday for his late-night call centre job and he still acted so hoity-toity with them over that also. If he is treated well and on par with everyone else, why should they not expect the same from him that they do of any other member? Pravinbhai and the bhabhis also only had an issue only with this aspect, baaki they had also never targeted Hemal about anything else.
