Chapter 1

Upside Down

He was beyond irritated when he stepped back in the offices of Scindiya Inc. What a waste of his time. He had so much on his plate. He still had to prepare for the board meeting and his father sent him to this meeting when he knew what the outcome would be. His father's old business associates were so used to doing it the old school way and he wanted to bring the business into the 21st century. His biggest opposition being his own father.

He stomped towards the lift still thinking about the meeting that was an epic fail and how this was going to cause him and his father to have another disagreement when suddenly someone knocked into him. The file fell out of hand scattering papers all around, luckily he held on to his laptop.

"Dammit he said as he bent to pick up the file.

"Sorry, I'm so sorry. he heard as the person bent down to pick up the contents of her spilt bag.

He looked up with the look that sent most people to flight but not this one. She looked up at him with an apologetic look and then it was there, the most beautiful smile he had ever encountered.

"You haven't changed one bit. Your still have the frowniest of all frowny faces, Yash Scindiya.

He was surprised that she remembered him. He smiled too.

"Neither have you. Do you ever not smile?

"Why would I when my smile just turned your frown upside down?

"Touche. How are you?

"Great and you?

"Mmm he said and shrugged. "What are you doing here?

"I came for an interview.

"At SI?

"No at Khanna Architecture and Interior Design.

"Oh, and how did it go?

"Mmm she shrugged. "I never know about these things. Btw, I think we should get up now. They were still sitting on their haunches talking.

"Yes he said.

She got up first as he gathered the last of his pages he noticed that her cell phone had landed under it. He skilfully slid it into his file along with his page, shocked by his own action but not stopping what he was doing.

"Anyway, it was nice seeing you after all these years. It was even better getting a smile out of you. If I get the job, maybe we can catch up someday

He shrugged again.

She giggled.

"You could really could put a dent in a girl's self-confidence. Good bye Eternal Ray of Sunshine. she said as she walked away.

He stood looking at her as she walked away. Who would have thought that in all the places that he would walk into her at his own office. The girl he was madly in love with at university. But she was so incredibly popular that she never even noticed him. Or maybe she did, but she was such a vivacious and happy person that she just shared that beautiful smile with everyone. He wasn't special and he wanted to be. Every time she walked past him and smiled at him his heart nearly jumped out of his chest as it did today, but he was Mr. No Nonsense Scindiya as she called him the rate times that she spoke to him. He was very serious then, he supposed he still was. Though girls flirted with him often, he had no interest in them, his focus was only to achieve his career goals.

He was doing his masters when she started as a freshman at the University. He had seen her for the first time when she sold him some tickets to a variety show at campus. He was sitting in the library working on his laptop.

"Hello.

He looked up into a bedazzling smiling face. He was at a loss for words.

"Sorry to bother, I was wondering if you would like some tickets for the variety show.

Still he didn't answer.

"It's for a good cause.

He swallowed.

"Please, she made her sad face and pouted with her luscious kissable lips.

He swallowed again. Totally confused by his reaction.

"Pretty please with a cherry on top.

"Fine. Give it.

"How many. she asked sweetly.

"All of it.

"Oh, You're sure?

"I said, didn't I? Do you want to sell them or not?

"I certainly do. And I hope you enjoy the show and I will put a smile on your frowny face.

She handed him the 20 tickets she had. Luckily his dad had just given him his allowance that morning so he had enough cash. But he certainly did not need so many. And he could not retract. So he gave them to his cricket team mates. He didn't go. They raved about the show, especially about the beautiful freshman that danced so wonderfully. He could kick himself for not going, as he had not stopped thinking about her since that first day.

She was so beautiful and has such an attractive personality that the guys swarmed around her. The popular girls saw this and made her a member of their group because where she was the guys followed. But this never changed her. She was still friendly with everyone, even the less popular.

It seemed she was everywhere. But that was the kind of presence she had. Even when he wanted to forget her and focus on his studies she was just there, walking past him, at the hockey and cricket matches, even when he didn't see her he would hear her infectious laugh wafting towards him, those were the rare moments that brought a smile to his face.

Finally once his final exam was done he decided that he would do it. He would approach her. He would ask her out. She stood outside the cafeteria looking at her phone. He walked towards her with his heart pounding. Not even his exams made him this nervous. She looked up at him and smiled that smile that enslaved him, it reflected in her beautiful almond eyes.

In moments his heart came crashing down. Prashant Dubey came from behind and embraced her.

"Hello baby. Missed me?

She turned around and smile at him.

"You made me wait again.

"Sorry he said. Let me treat you to a milkshake. He took her hand and they walked towards the cafeteria.

He shut his eyes as they walked away and turned around, he had to work hard to contain the burning lump in his throat and the moisture that formed in his eyes. And eventually he found the strength to walk to his car.

Now it was 6 years later. And today was the first time he saw her again. He did his best to forget her and eventually he did. But today was the first time in 6 years that his heart beat so violently that he was almost sure that she could hear it, he thought as he finally made his way to his office.

It had been hours. He sat looking at the phone willing it to ring. For the umpteenth time he shook his head. He was Yash Scindiya for goodness sakes. He was heir to the one of biggest empires in India that included an international hotel chain, construction, engineering and a host of other concerns. And today he stole a cell phone. HE STOLE A CELL PHONE!!!! And why. All to have a reason to see her again.

When it finally rang he jumped. Then he had to calm down before he could answer.

"Hello.

"Who is this?

"It's the happy fellow that you knocked into earlier. And you are only looking for your cell phone now?

She giggled.

"Who would've thought Mr. No Nonsense can crack a joke.

"You don't know me very well do you?

"I guess not.

"So where can I bring your phone.

"You don't have to. I can pick it up at your office tomorrow

"No, I will bring it after work. Maybe we can have a bite to eat and have that catch up that you were talking about earlier.

"Ok, that would be nice. There is a very nice place near my office She gave him the address.

"See you later, Aarti

A shiver went through her at the way he said her name. He had never uttered it before. It seemed almost sensual coming from his mouth. She should have said no but she wanted to say yes. She so badly wanted to say yes. Just to spend that short time with him.

She was surprised to see him today. Her Mr. No Nonsense. He was the most handsome man she had ever seen. The first time she had seen was in the library on campus. She was sitting down working on an assignment when she looked up and saw looking for book in one of the aisles. He heart bear faster and her mouth went dry. She was ready to swoon. Suddenly he looked up at her and she gave her sweetest smile, it was an involuntary action, it was just what he brought out in her. Only then she realised that he was looking past her at nothing really as he was deep in thougth.

The whole year she had hoped, prayed and planned but nothing. Her first attempt was to sell the variety show tickets to him in the hope that he would come and that she could strike up a conversation with him. She especially prepared a dance to entice him but he didn't even come. She was crushed. She went as far as to memorise all his classes so that she could walk in that direction to pass him to her classes, even if it was out of the way, but to no avail. Finally in a last ditch attempt she agreed to date Prashant, to make him jealous. It was the end of the semester and she was desperate. But when he saw them together he just turned around and walked away. The look of pain that she saw for the briefest of moments was clearly just her imagination. She got the picture.

And when she saw his gorgeous frown again today, her smile came again, naturally. He was so handsome, so cute, he smelled so nice. She almost wanted to hug him. But he would have thought she was a nutcase. Anyway she was not in his league. She had found a decent job as an interior designer after university and she was doing well for herself, hence her going after this opportunity to become chief designer at Khanna A & I. She must admit that she didn't even strike her that she would meet him there even the building was called the Scindiya Towers.

He is the Yash Scindiya. Every girl at University had a crush on him but he was so one track minded. Studies and nothing else. She didn't stand a chance then and she wouldn't now. Miss Middle Class Aarti Sharma would not fit into his world. But she could spend just a teensy weensy bit of time with him. Just as a special treat. She was so glad she lost her cell phone today.

Later that evening:

"This is a nice place.

"I like it. It has a nice ambiance and it is not expensive.

"So you come here often.

"Not really. Just sometimes with colleagues or I meet up with a friend after work.

"Just friends?

"Are you prying Mr. Scindiya? I sort of pegged you for the direct type.

"Fine then, do you have boyfriend.

Her grin broadened.

"That's more like it. Yes, in fact I will be getting engaged soon. You remember Prashant Dubey.

Did he ever remember?

"Oh he said looking down.

"Did you know I had a monstrous crush on you at university?

His head shot up.

"You must do, I made it so obvious. she giggled.

"No, I just thought you were friendly. You were the same with everyone.

"I was and I am friendly but it was more than that with you. But you were like a vault. You just would wouldn't open up to my advances. I can only laugh when I think about it now. I followed you around. I memorised your classes so we could walk into each other, I went to all your matches but no luck.

He gave himself a mental smack against the head for his stupidity.

"I ... I didn't know. But you started seeing Dubey even then.

"Can I tell you a secret? she smiled at him in conspiratorial way.

He nodded.

"I started dating him to make you jealous.

"Idiot! he said.

"What? she said taken aback.

"No, not you sorry. Me.

"You?

"Yes, me. I was an idiot, no I can't even think of a word of exactly how stupid and obtuse I was. How did I miss this? When ... when...

"What?

He just shook his head.

She giggled. He was so cute.

"Can I tell you a secret too? he asked.

"Yes.

"My crush on you was no less monstrous. And the day that I saw you with Prashant I was going to finally make my move.

"No

"Yes

"No

"Oh yes.

"For people that are academically quite sound, we were not very bright when I came to affairs of the heart. But I suppose things turn out as they meant to be.

He shrugged again. Not at all happy with the turnout of events. They ate and continued talking and catching up on mutual acquaintances and finally it was time to settle the bill. The waiter handed him the bill when they were ready.

She took it.

"It's my treat. As a thank you for bringing my phone.

He took it back.

"It was my pleasure. So I don't need a treat.

She took it again.

"I can afford it.

He did the same.

"I can afford this restaurant. he said

She burst out laughing.

"That makes me want to pay for dinner even more.

He looked at her. She was still uniquely beautiful with that personality that sucks you in like quick sand.

"Fine. You can pay. On one condition. he said.

"What, you buy the restaurant?

Now he laughed.

"I love the sound of your laughter she said. The look she gave him made his heart race a million miles a minute.

"No, we own enough restaurants. My condition is that you go out with me on Friday night.

"I'm afraid I can't do that.

"Why?

"Prashant.

"Come on, just two old friends.

"We were never friends. We had feelings for each other that were never explored and I am in a committed relationship. I don't think it's a good idea.

"Please. I promise to be on my absolute best behaviour.

She sighed heavily.

"Please he said and looked at her imploringly. "Please.

"Stop looking at me like that she said squeezing her eyes shut.

"I promise to smile the whole night long. No grumpiness.

"Don't make promises you can't keep. Sorry, I just can't. she smiled.

She paid and he drove her home.

"So what position did you interview for?

"Head Interior designer.

"What position do you have now?

"The same, but the company I work for is small and I have reached my ceiling. Actually it was my boss that told me about the position. He is very concerned about me and only has my best interest at heart. I started there after university and he groomed me into what I am today but I must admit I am bored. Our clientele is mid to up market residential. I have tried to introduce commercial like malls and hotels but the brand is not strong enough to attract the type of clients that excites me, so I really hope I get this job.

"Did Amaan interview you?

"Yes, do you know him?

"Very well. I can put in a good word for you.

"No, don't you dare. I want this on my own merit, else it won't mean the same.

For the first time he heard her voice strong and assertive, almost angry. He liked it. He liked that she was passionate about what she did.

"We're here. she said.

He got out and opened the door for her.

"Oh, I didn't even ask if you have a girlfriend or wife and maybe some children.

"No to all of the above. For the moment.

"Ok, then. Good bye.

"See you soon.

He didn't contact her after that. But a week later he was surprised to see her at his office.

"Hi she said and his heart leapt at the sound of her voice.

"Hi

"There was no one so I just walked in.

"My PA has gone to lunch. Come in and have a seat.

"No, I just came to share my good news with you. I got the job. I bought some sweets to celebrate.

He got up and walked over to her. She fed him one of the sweets and he touched her hand as she was doing so and he didn't leave it when she put the other half in her mouth. He so badly wanted to kiss her.

"You are the first one I told. he was still holding her hand.

"I am honoured. Will you also do me the honour of treating you to a celebratory dinner?

"Yash, we've had this discussion before.

"No that was a different discussion. I only want to congratulate you properly.

She looked at him with a suspicious smile.

"No that's not what I meant. he said defensively amused.

"It's still not a good idea. she finally tugged her hand out of his.

"Again. I promise to be on my best behaviour. Please.

She held up her hand and took out her phone and made a call. He could obviously only hear the one side of the conversation.

"Hi, Prashant. How are you? I have great news, I got the job. And I ran into someone that I haven't seen since college days. Do you mind if I go out to dinner to catch up. Thank babes, you are the best. Bye

She looked at him pulling her face "I just did a bad thing. That was so wrong.

He smiled.

"I will pick you up at 7

"No, let me know where I must get you. I don't need my family to ask questions.

She walked out and looked back and said:

"Best behaviour right?

He nodded and watch her walk off with a smile.

************************

He could not remember being so excited or nervous about a date ever. He tried on so many different outfits. Till he finally decided on a jeans, white shirt and navy blue blazer and tan formal shoes. He looked quite dashing if he had to say himself.

He was already seated when she arrived. She looked stunning in a white loose fitting cocktail dress with long sleeves that were open along the sides that reached below her thighs. She had a big Aztec looking silver neck piece that hung to her stomach and silver earrings and silver stiletto strappy sandals. He could see that she had caught the attention of a few male patrons as she was making her way to their table. He would have loved to take her home and hide away from their lecherous eyes.

"Hello she said.

He frowned.

"Was it necessary to dress like this?

"What?

"Every man in this place is looking at you.

"If you don't like the way I look I can leave.

"Just sit down.

"Om goodness. For a moment I thought you are different but are just as grumpy as ever. And you promised.

"It's your fault.

"How is it my fault?

"You are too sexy.

"Do you have to say it like an insult?

"I don't like it.

She looked sad and looked down. He wasn't used to seeing her like this.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that.

"I wanted to look nice for you she said sadly.

He put his hand over hers.

"You look amazing. That's the problem. I want you to look like this for me only.

She looked at him baffled.

"Yash ...

"Never mind me. Let's order something to drink.

The atmosphere was rather awkward after that. Neither of them ate much nor spoke much.

Finally the meal was done.

"Dessert?

"No thank you.

"Aarti, I'm sorry. I know I ruined the evening but please don't go yet. Please can we go somewhere else? I don't want this time with you to end right now. Please

She didn't want it to end either.

"Where will we go?

"Anywhere you want to.

"Dancing

"Yes please

She smiled again.

"And can I get the bill this time? he asked.

"I can't afford this place she whispered.

He smiled. He settled the bill and came over to her chair, pulled it out and held out his hand to her. She was surprised when he didn't let her hand go as they walked out of the restaurant. But she liked it. She liked it way too much and she let him hold it even as he was driving.

They landed up at an exclusive member's only club that she had heard of before but never dreamt that she would one day be there. Not that she was much of a party animal. But she was a little awestruck but some of the patrons. Quite a number of Bolly and Tellywood stars were present. He wanted to sit down but she dragged him to the dance floor immediately.

He rarely danced but he loved dancing with her. Her rhythm flowed so easily and perfectly with his. She had boundless energy it seems and she moved to the fast paced music. Finally the music slowed and she fit so perfectly into his arms, her head resting against his chest. He loved the feel and the smell of her.

"This is nice

She looked up at him.

"It's way too nice. But it's not right. she said with a sad smile.

He took her hand and again and led her to a private room with a balcony. The room had been prepared. There was a plate with eats with champagne on ice and glasses. She was still taking it all in when he took her in his arms and kissed her. She eagerly kissed him back, as a host of emotions were coursing through her and her body was in rapture.

She couldn't have stopped if she wanted to and finally he did.

He took her by the shoulders to make some space between them.

"Aarti, I know you are feeling what I'm feeling. I let you go before but this time I am not doing that. I fell in love with you the first day when you forced those tickets on me and I still feel the same. Even to my own ears this sounds bizarre but it's how I feel. Please can you give me a chance?

She pulled away from him.

"Yash, you know I am with Prashant. You know that we are practically engaged. I can't just ... I can't do this. I am leaving. She started walking out.

He caught her arm.

"Aarti ...

"Yash, let me go. You promised to behave tonight.

"I know and I will but be honest and tell me why you really came.

She looked down, tears starting to trickle down her face.

"I shouldn't have come.

"But you did.

"Prashant ...

"I know.

"I love him

"Are you in love with him?

She couldn't answer.

"I can't break his heart.

"Will you break my heart then?

"I ... I ... This is too hard. Please take me home.

"Fine, I will take you home, but please just promise me you will think about this?

"Yes, yes. Just please take me home. Now.

"Ok. he wanted to take her hand again but she pulled it away. She was not able to handle it right now.

The drive home was quiet. She was out of the car before he could do the gentlemanly thing and open the door for her. And she didn't take his calls after that. But he was not worried somehow.

2 weeks later he was sitting with his hands behind his back and feet on the desk daydreaming when Amaan entered the office. He walked past him and knocked his feet off the desk. And went to sit on the couch.

"To what do I owe the honour of having the great Yash Scindiya in my office?

"Do you have a problem?

"No, it's just that I am the one that has to come to your office all the time and beg you to eat lunch with me.

"I ordered lunch by the way.

"So, what is going on? Are you in love or something?

"Yes.

"What?! Are you serious? I was only joking.

"I am indeed serious.

"Shut the front door Amaan said incredulously. "Come on spill. Who is she?

"I can't say just yet. She is not technically available.

"Please don't tell me you are having an affair with a married woman. G3-ma will freak.

"Don't be stupid. She is supposed to get engaged soon. And I am sure she will be. To me.

"Then tell me who she is.

"Patience my dear boy.

"You are a sucky friend.

"You will be the first to know.

There was a knock on the door.

"Sir, Naina asked me to bring your lunch.

Yash's heart leapt at the sight of her again. She looked quite taken aback seeing him there but she tried to keep her composure.

"Hello he said.

She nodded.

"Would you like to join us?

She looked back shocked.

"No ... no thank you. I already ate.

"You're sure?

She nodded again.

"Ok, maybe next time.

"Thank you Aarti Amaan said and she left.

"Dude, were you just hitting on my new employee? Is this love making you crazy? On the other hand she is quite a stunner. If only we didn't have company policy on the matter.

"And that you are married.

"Oh, yes and that.

You just remember that. Yash said too aggressively.

"Yes, boss. Amaan mocked. They both knew that he was totally and completely in love with his wife.

Amaan was the eldest son of Maya and Vheer Khanna, and Yash's cousin. Maya. SP Scindiya's younger sister married the boy next door. G3 and SP struggled for years to have a baby and then Maya announced she was pregnant. It took its toll on G3 but as if it was meant to be for the boys to have such a bond, within 2 months of Maya's announcement G3 found out she was pregnant too. The ladies bonded over their pregnancies and because of G3's complication's Yash was born first at 7 months. It was touch and go but he was a fighter. The boys grew up like brothers, they went to the same pre-school, primary school and high school. But Amaan chose to study abroad, so did Yash but he chose to come home after his 2nd year as he preferred being home and start getting involved in the business and study at the same time. They were so close yet Yash was far more serious than Amaan as he was always aware of his responsibilities to take over the business. Amaan too. But the Khanna business was not in the league of Scindiya incorporated. Amaan was a party animal and Yash was a very serious young man. But they were more than cousins, more than brothers and more than friends. They were close and their differing personalities was good for the other. He kept a reign on Amaan's partying lifestyle and Amaan forced him out of his strict work regime when needed.

2 years ago, Yash came up with the idea of incorporating the Khanna business into SI. They would not be sole owners but they would be making more money as they would then have access to a share of all of the SI profits. Amaan and his father still ran their firm independently though.

She was the only secret that he had ever kept from Amaan. Mostly because he was struggling with what he was feeling and then it was over. And Amaan was a player of note. He would not have understood his feelings.

Now though he was happily married to the daughter of what was once their biggest rival, Arpita.

She came to work every day, dreading seeing him but would leave disappointed when she didn't. The pressure was on at home to set a date for the engagement. She used her new job as an excuse to put it off. She couldn't understand why she did it though. What was she hoping would happen? She told him didn't she, that there could be nothing between them, yet she was the one that stalling the engagement. She kept thinking about him. She kept feeling the sensations that she had felt when she was in his arms and when he kissed her. And there was no one she could talk about it.

"Babe, whats the matter Prashant asked one night. "You look stressed.

"I am.

"Is it the new job?

"I don't think I should have taken it.

"Why? I thought you would love it.

"I do. It's not the job itself its other factors. I have to work that out for myself.

"Aarti, the engagement? Is that giving you more stress?

"No she said.

"You know you have never been able to lie to me.

"Sorry, Prashant. Actually you are right. Everything is just getting too much for me at the moment.

"Are you having 2nd thoughts babe.

She shut her eyes again.

"What if this is a mistake. What if we are not really meant to be together for ever? What if this just what is comfortable and safe. she was crying now.

"Babe, I can't answer that for you. And nothing is guaranteed. I just know I love you so I want to see you happy. Whether it is with me or not.

"Why do you have to be so amazing? I love you so much.

"Oh well, it just comes naturally. she laughed through her tears still no less confused.

Chapter 2

It was 6 months later and it was Scindiya incorporated family picnic. It was a very informal affair and it held at the Scindiya\Khanna homes. The properties were both huge and as the kids grew up they decided to remove the dividing walls so that the cousins on both sides that were also good friends and had many mutual friends could move from house to house easily The entire staff and their families from the Mumbai office were invited.

Aarti was nervous. Prashant would be there too. She had very little interaction with him but she knew that he had not given up on her. He did not pressurise her, but he was everywhere. He appeared at her appointments with clients. At meetings even he had very little involvement at Khanna, and he would appear at the lift magically whenever she was arrived either in the morning. When he wasn't there, she missed him so much.

She was given a task to facilitate some team building exercises and help set up the event so she was one of the first ones to arrive. He was there to welcome her.

"Welcome to my humble abode.

"Mmm, humble?

"Ok, it's massive. But so are the hearts of those that live in it. You will soon come to know that.

She looked at him in exasperation.

"Where do I go?

Before he could answer she saw a little angel run towards him.

"Chachu, chachu.

"Hello my princess. he said as he picked up the little girl of around 4.

"I was looking for you.

"Why

"I want ice cream and mamma won't give me.

"We will be in trouble

She giggled.

"Mamma won't know.

"Your mamma knows everything. he looked at Aarti.

"Look we have a visitor. Her name is Aarti but you can call her chachi.

Aarti blushed.

"What's your name?

"Vedhika Amaan Khanna. she said proudly.

"You are so pretty. But you should listen to you mamma and not your naughty uncle.

"Chachu is not naughty. He is my favourite.

"Thank you my angel. You are my favourite princess. Let's go and show our queen where she should be.

"She's your queen?

"Sweetie pie, please show me where I must go, your uncle is too busy talking.

She took Aarti's hand and ran outside with her.

She looked back at him and he winked at her. She couldn't help smiling back at him.

He helped her set up her station and she wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing. Vedhika was around them all the time as well. He would make a great dad, she thought. She loved it and it made her uncomfortable at the same time. Luckily the guests soon came and the activities started.

Her parents came with Prashant. They really seemed to enjoy the day. But she could not relax as his eyes were on her constantly. At one point he came over to where they were and introduced himself.

"Mamaji, Papaji, I am Yash Scindiya. Are you enjoying yourself?

Her parents were very surprised the he addressed them like that and liked him instantly as they assumed him to be humble, being so rich and still speaking to them with so much respect.

"It's very nice Mr. Scindiya.

"Not Mr. Scindiay. My name is Yash. My home is your home. Isn't it Aarti?

She nearly choked on the piece of cake she was eating and eked out the worst smile he had ever seen on her.

"Prashant, right? You haven't changed much. Thank you so much for taking care of my ... my wo ... worker so diligently for all these years. It is much appreciated.

"My pleasure. Prashant said clearly confused at the statement.

"Yes, I'm sure it was. he said. "Anyway I came to steal Aarti. I mean I have to take her. To discuss something with her and introduce her to some people. If you don't mind that is.

"Not at all said Prashant.

"What are you doing? she demanded as they were walking off.

"I'm sure I don't know what you mean.

"Hmf she expleted.

He steered her in the way of his family.

"Where are we going? she said anxiously.

"I just want to introduce you to some people.

"Those are not some people. It's your people. I mean your family.

"So, are they not people?

"Please, I don't want to.

"You have to meet them sometime

He steered her by holding a hand to her back as he could see she was in flight mode.

"I hate you she gritted through her teeth as they reached the family.

"Aarti this is my family. Bauji, Ma, my brother Prateek and sister Veera. You know Amaan, his parents Maya-Buaji and Vheer-pappa. His sisters Priya and Tanya. And of course you know our princess and the baby is Vendant.

"Everyone this is the newest edition to our family.

Everyone looked at them strangely.

"I mean she joined the company recently.

"Chachi Vedhika shouted and came to hug her at her knees.

"She is our Queen. Mine and Chachu's

Aarti wanted to die of embarrassment.

"Yes, princess. She is. You know how Vedhika likes to play these games. And we decided that Aarti is the queen. He addressed the family.

She just greeted them by putting her hands together and nodding and she looked down at Vedhika.

"No, no. You have to take their blessing. Yash said.

She had no choice but it was so awkward. She was talking to his family that looked so confused.

Amaan came to stand next to him.

"You dog. Right under my nose huh? So policies are not for the boss it seems.

"Shut up, Amaan. I don't know what you are talking about.

"Is she single yet?

"Almost. I mean, I don't know.

Amaan shook his head and chuckled and walked off.

Aarti excused herself and went back to her family but she was livid.

Later that night he smiled when he saw her call.

"You ... you ... Ugh! she said before he could answer.

"Hello to you too my love.

"I am not your love, I am not your anything. How dare you embarrass me like that?

"How did I embarrass you? And by the way, you are wrong. You are my love. You are my everything.

"Yash, you have to stop this. What must your family think of me?

"I will ask and let you know.

"No! Are you insane?

"Ok, I won't but I am sure they will love you as much as I do.

"You know what? I can't even talk to you. she disconnected the call and threw it down on the bed, but it still did not give her the satisfaction of slamming the phone down on him.

He chuckled, when she disconnect the call on him for the umpteenth time that night. Still loving this angry side of his love. Passion is passion, no matter in which form and he loved her display of it. He had much to look forward to when they are married.

"Miss Sharma, this is a place of work.

"I know sir.

"Then what is this?

"I'm sorry sir. I have no control over this. I ...I ...

"Miss Sharma, can you please tell your boyfriend that this is not appropriate. Please don't let me regret employing you.

"Sir ... Yes, sir. I will do that.

"That's all. You may leave.

Aarti left Amaan's office angrier than ever. Since the morning she walked flowers had been delivered every hour on the hour with a card saying:

"Sorry. I love you.

How does she tell her boss this it is his stupid cousin and the CEO of the company that is the person behind this lunacy?

She immediately went to the balcony to call him and give her a piece of her mind, completely unaware of the pair of amused eyes watching her.

As expected in minutes Amaan's office door flung open.

"Did you reprimand Aarti?

"Excuse me?

"You heard me?

"One minute. he picked up the phone and called his PA.

"Priya, please get Miss Sharma to come to my office.

"Amaan, I swear ...

"Since when do you interfere with my dealings with my staff?

Before Yash could answer she was there.

"Yes sir. She was clearly not happy to see Yash there.

"Come in. So Miss Sharma, you went over my head and went straight to the CEO of the company, I don't appreciate that.

"No sir. I would never do that.

"Then how does Yash know?

"Sir ... "she didn't know what to say.

"Amaan, she did nothing wrong. You have no right to reprimand her.

"She is my staff member I have every right. Did you see what this office looks like? A florist. Do you know how many times she had to get up to go to the reception area? It affects her productivity. I won't have it. If there is another delivery I will give her a formal verbal warning.

"No sir, please.

"You will do no such thing! Yash shouted.

"Will you allow this at your office?

"Ok, the flowers will stop.

"Oh, how do you know that the will stop, Yash?

"Aarti, you can go.

She looked at Amaan.

"Fine, go. We will talk later, Bhabhi. I mean Aarti.

She looked at Amaan shocked and at Yash mortified.

"Now thanks to your drama, she is even angrier at me. Thanks.

"So you will admit that she's the one that you are in love with.

"Of course she is. But she is adamant about getting married to that Prashant.

"Then we must make a plan to change her mind.

"Well what I have done so far has not worked. So it would be great if you came up with a plan.

He shrugged and started working as Yash was busy leaving the office.

"Oh, Yash that trip for the Goa resort ... I will be bringing along my head interior designer to have a look at the place to get ideas, you know.

For a moment Yash wondered what he was on about and then it dawned on him. He turned around and went behind Amaan and hugged him.

"You are the best cousin, brother, best friend in the world. Thank you, Thank you.

"Season tickets to the cricket will do, thanks

"For this, you can have a life time supply of season tickets and more.

He practically skipped out of the office he was so happy.

A week later, Aarti was sitting in the private jet of the company with Amaan for the Goa trip. She was distracted. She had not heard from him since the incident in Amaan's office. She had also not seen him around the building or the office. She should be happy but she was sadder than she had ever been. Her laughter and her smiles seemed forced even to herself. She was constantly close to tears. And she could not speak to the one person she shared most things with, her best friend, Prashant.

They discussed ideas on the trip, so it went fairly quick. They stayed in a quaint little guest house owned by a friend of the Scindiya and Khuranna familes and now run by their son Akash Gupta's wife Ishita. Akash would be running the Goa hotel once completed. He was already making preparation and hiring staff. They were warmly welcomed and they were told to check in and then come and have lunch.

Aarti freshened up quickly and made her way to the dining room area where she hear voices and jovial laughter. She came to a complete halt when she stepped inside the dining room. Who would be sitting there along with the Amaan and the Gupta's but Yash. She smiled at him as her heart hammered in her chest before she remembered she was supposed to give him the cold shoulder. She wiped the smile off her face quickly and went to the table and he got up to pull out a chair for her next to him. She could not exactly refuse as it would have looked odd.

"Hello gorgeous.

She cleared her throat as his proximity made her feel all hot and bothered.

"When did you get here she asked.

"Yesterday. I had to meet with the builders and we, will meet with them again later, so that Amaan can make sure that the construction is above board and you can have an idea about the interior.

"That's the only reason you're here?

"Why else? he looked at her suggestively.

She shook her head and ate the food that Ishita offered. But she had very little appetite all of a sudden. She was so worried being here with for 3 days with him.

They left when lunch was done. Akash drove the car, with Amaan was in the front passenger seat. She was forced to sit in the back with him. He moved to sit close to her and grabbed her hand. She tried to yank it back but his grip was too firm and it would have created undue attention had she struggled. She gave him one of her glares and he just smiled back.

The building was near completed and they had a constructive on site meeting with all the parties present. And then they went to a nearby restaurant to brainstorm.

Aarti loved it. This was what she wanted out of her career. This was an amazing challenge and it would be her biggest project thus far. She was in her element. Even his presence could not overshadow her passion for her job.

Yash loved watching her work. She was clearly good at what she was did. Her ideas were fresh and innovative. They had to give her very little information for her to catch onto what they wanted for the dcor of the resort. He could see that she was totally absorbed in her work and for the first time he wasn't. He was enjoying just being with her, as his love and as a colleague. A very efficient one at that. His wife to be got more and more impressive the more he got to know her. And he was looking forward to these few days with her.

The day was pretty hectic and they were very tired. They had supper and the guys retired to the lounge to do some reminiscing of their childhood while Aarti and Ishita went to sit on the terrace with coffee.

"So what's going on with you and Yash.

"I have a boyfriend. Aarti said too quickly.

Ishita looked at her confused.

"That's not what I asked.

"Sorry, I mean there ... there is nothing between Ya ... Mr. Scindiya and I. He is my boss.

"Does he know that?

"No she said with a whiny voice. "I mean, he knows I have a boyfriend. Sorry I am very tired. I am going to bed now. Good night. She rushed to her room but not before she saw the knowing smile on Ishita's face. She had to get away before she revealed any more of her innermost secrets. She locked her door and had a shower. She was tired and thought that she would fall asleep immediately but she was not so lucky. His proximity would not allow for peaceful slumber. She was afraid that he might come to her room and pester her. But he didn't come. And when she fell asleep in the early hours of the morning she was more disappointed than she would have liked that he did not come.

"Good morning, sleepy head Aarti woke up to the sound of those words and the smell of freshly brewed coffee and she was confused for a moment.

"Are you finally awake my Love?

Aarti jumped up.

"How did you get in here? I locked the door.

"Don't worry about that. I brought you some coffee to get you going. I am on my way and I won't be seeing you till this evening. I had to get my morning indulgence while I can.

"Get out of my room.

"I am going. Have a great day. Love you. he pecked her on her cheek and walked towards the door. He blew her another kiss as he left the room.

She gave him a glare and as she took the first sip of her coffee. She checked the time and realised that she had to get out of bed quickly. Yash and Aaman would work at the site office and she had back to back meetings with furniture and dcor suppliers that would start with a breakfast meeting in an hour. She took her clothes out for the day as she was sipping her coffee. Actually it was very sweet of him to get her the coffee, she smiled to herself. Then she shook her head to clear it. No, he did not belong in her bedroom. She had to get over this madness.

Her meetings were very informative and she already had ideas of who she would use. Scindiya Inc and their affiliate companies prided themselves in empowering local small business. She had met with a few companies that were small, yet professional so she would most likely used them.

She was so tired when she stepped back into the Guest house. She was ready for a nap before dinner.

She went inside to find Ishita and Arpita chatting in the kitchen.

"Hi Aarti. Or like my daughter calls you, Queen.

"Arpitaji. When did you arrive?

"A few hours ago. Amaan wanted me to accompany him to the function tonight.

"What function?

Arpita and Ishita looked at each other confused.

"You don't know?

"No

"It's a get together with all the role players in making the hotel happen.

"Oh, you must have fun. I am going to take a nap. Don't worry about supper for me. I will order in later.

"What do you mean? You are going with to the function. That's how I understand it.

"No, I didn't even know about it and I don't have anything to wear.

"But I ... Arpita started but Ishita stopped her.

"You rest for an hour or so, Yash should be back then and you can talk to him.

Aarti shrugged and went to her room.

She opened the door and was shocked find a box on her bed. She took out the contents. It was so beautiful.

There was a card. It said.

"Handpicked as you were for me. I know you will look even more ravishing tonight. Love you.

There was an outfit and accessories, even shoes. She smiled again. He knew exactly what she liked and he has only known her for such a short time. How is it possible? She had a good mind not to wear it and refuse to go but she wanted to look nice for him. Just this one time.

His breath caught as she came into the lounge area two hours later. He was right. She looked exquisite in what was the most beautiful tulle skirt, beige in colour with pink edging and the long tail top was pink satin with beige embellishments on the right shoulder and just above the belly button that was exposed. It was the perfect look for her. He loved her in pink. Her hair was just straight and kept over her one shoulder.

He got up and walked to her, oblivious of the others. He took her hand and said:

"Perfection

She bent her head. She could not look into his eyes any longer. It was delving into her very soul and it was making her melt. Especially since he looked so handsome in his black suit and white shirt.

"Thank you she whispered.

"Thank you for wearing it.

She looked up at him and their eyes could not move away from each other.

"Ok, so if you love birds are done, can we go? said Amaan loudly as he got up.

"You are so unromantic. his wife said.

"I have two kids that proves differently, my darling.

"That is hardly romance, but we will have this discussion later. Let's go now.

They had hired a limo to take them to the venue. The couples were all sitting closely together. Amaan had arm around Arpita and Akash was holding Ishita's hand. Yash too entwined his fingers to hers and the other four were not even phased. As if they had already accepted them as a couple. She was uncomfortable for a while but soon realised that everyone was having a conversation and the handholding was not a thing for them. So she relaxed.

The evening was quite a success. Yash, Amaan and Akash all spoke and then dinner was served. There was some drinks and socialising afterwards and the function ended at about midnight.

"I don't want to go home yet. We don't have opportunities like this every day because of the kids. Let's go party. What do you all say?

"Baby, I am tired Arpita said.

"Please, you can sleep in tomorrow. Please.

"Ok, guys my husband wants to forget he is a family man for one night. Shall we humour him?

They all agreed and asked the driver to take them to an upmarket club. Although they were all tired, the vibe of the club was good as was the music and of course the company. They had a few drinks and they danced the night away. For a moment even Aarti felt like she belonged with him. They danced most of the time and it was early hours of the morning that they left.

They stopped for a snack at all night take away place as they were hungry again. And then went home.

He followed her to her room.

She opened the door. She was trembling. She knew she would not be able to resist him.

"Yash she implored.

"I promise, best behaviour. I just don't want the night to end just yet.

"Best behaviour? Where have I heard that before?

"I promise I will do better this time.

She smiled at him and lifted her pinkie finger.

"Pinkie promise?

He hooked his pinkie with hers and said

"Pinkie promise.

"Ok, come in but the swan first has to transform into the ugly duckling. I have to get comfortable clothes on first.

"You don't have to wear anything. I don't mind. he said with a naughty twinkle in his eyes.

"Yash, you promised. she said.

"I was just teasing. Go get comfortable. I will wait here.

He was sitting on the bed going through his cell phone when she came out wearing a t-shirt and track pants. He face was clear of make up and her hair was in a ponytail.

"Ta da. The real me. she said.

"Still perfect. He smiled. "Come he reached his arm out to her. "I will stay till you fall asleep.

"Ok. she said and came to lie down, settling in his arms.

"How did you know I would love that outfit.

"I didn't I just knew you would look great in it when I saw it when the vendor was at our house. I asked Arpita to get for me and bring it along with her.

"Well I loved it. You couldn't have picked better.

"I know he said rubbing her head as she was now lying down closed eyes, adoring her.

"They think we are a couple.

"They know I am pursuing you and you are being completely and utterly difficult. They know about Prashant.

"They are not judging me.

"No, they love me and they want me to be happy. And they can see what I see. That you love me.

She yawned.

"I am so tired.

"Then sleep. Good night sweet heart. Love you.

"I love you too. her fatigue had broken own her defences. He smiled and kissed on the forehead, he pulled the blanket over her and watched her sleep. She was so beautiful he thought, he wanted to just stay with her a little while longer.

That was the last he remembered before he was so rudely awakened by a painful whack on his arm.

"Ouch! he said rubbing his arm.

"You said you will only stay till I am asleep. It's almost noon. What if the others are awake?'

"Well if they are not awake, your shouting will wake them up.

"Get out!

He gave her an angry, tired look.

"And softly

He opened the door softly and left, not a happy fellow. She heard him bang his bedroom door and she cringed.

Luckily they were all so tired from the night before that the other 4 woke up after them. They had to rush to get ready as they had planned a lunch with Akash's older brother Pankaj and his wife Vidhi at one of the restaurants on the beach front. Pankaj, was the legal and compliance head of the Scindiya Corporation but he was based in one of the local offices. They were also a nice couple. She especially liked Vidhi. After lunch they went shopping and then to Akash and Pankaj's parents for dinner. Aarti really liked the family. They were all so nice and everyone just accepted her, even though she wasn't family.

They left there late as well as they were having such a pleasant visit with the family. And they planned at brunch at the guesthouse before they left for home the next day. Again he walked her to her room, but he said good night there. And she had mixed emotions. She loved falling asleep and waking up in his arms, even though she would have been mortified if they had been found like that.

The flight back was silent. Arpita and Aaman slept. They clearly had made good use of their time away from the kids and they were teased relentlessly by the others.

Yash was getting more and more anxious as the flight neared home. She had been quiet and withdrawn since just before they left the guesthouse.

"Aarti, what is the matter.

"Nothing.

"Aarti, talk to me.

"You won't like it.

"Just tell me.

"Mom called. They have set a date for the engagement. 2 weeks from now. I agreed.

He turned away from her.

"You are making a mistake. he said with calmness he did not feel.

"You have to forget about me. You will find someone that loves you the way you deserve to be loved.

"You love me,

"But I am not free to love you.

"No, you don't want to be free.

"Yash ...

"I don't want to talk anymore. He shut his eyes but they both knew he was not sleeping. For the rest of the flight he did not talk to her and neither on the drive home. It was painful for both of them, constantly trying to keep the tears at bay when they caught each other gaze.

Finally he accompanied her to her door helping her with the luggage.

"Aarti, don't do this. his voice was pleading. "I love you.

"I ... I have to. I can't hurt him.

"So you will rather ruin 3 lives in the long run. We belong together, Aarti. You and I. And if we are not together we will never be happy and neither will the people we are with. Please I beg you. For both of our happiness. Even for Prashant's. his eyes were moist with tears.

She just looked down and didn't answer. She could not look in his eyes as she would not be able to hold onto her resolve.

"Fine. Fine. I won't ask you again Aarti. If this is what you want then ... Fine. he walked away.

She finally lifted her head and watched him walk back the car. Tears streaming down her eyes. He did not even look at her when he got back into the car. And then he was gone.

She didn't see him at all after that and finally the day had come. Her heart was breaking but she just could not disappoint everyone. She was determined to make Prashant happy at any cost. She was accompanied by her mother and sister to her intended groom. Only when she sat down did she notice him standing there next to Aaman and Arpita. For a moment that was all she could focus on. The intenseness of his gaze. She was brought back to her reality by Prashant's hand on her shoulder.

"Everything Ok, Aarti?

She smiled and nodded. She did not look at him again but she could feel is eyes on her the whole time. She was trembling. Prashant had to steady her hand to place the ring on her finger. Finally the proceedings were done and she fled to the balcony of the hotel. She was literally gasping for air. It felt as if she was smothering.

"So went through with it. she heard his voice but she didn't turn around.

"I had no choice.

"You always have a choice. You chose not to follow your heart. You can still change your mind Aarti, you are not married yet.

"It's too late. she shouted. She was crying.

He pulled around by her arm and held on to her so tightly that I hurt.

"I love you. I said I won't ask you again but I just can't walk away from you it seems. Please Aarti. Stop this madness. Marry me. Be with me. You know you love me.

"Yash, please.

"Please what. Leave you to be unhappy. Sad. Leave you to a loveless marriage. A half life.

"Stop it! Let me go. she shout struggling out if his grasp.

"Is that what you really want? For me to let you go?

"Yes she said.

"Fine he let her go, shoving her just slightly.

"Aarti, are you ok? Neither of them heard Prashant approaching.

"Aarti turned around trying to hide her distress.

"She is fine. I just came to wish her happiness in her married life. After all it's not in everyone's destiny to be happy. Congratulations. he left.

"Aarti? Prashant said.

She was furiously wiping her tears.

"Aarti look at me.

She turned around slowly.

"What is really going on?

She shook her head and started crying again.

"Is there something between you and Yash?

She swallowed hard.

"Yes. I mean, there was nothing going besides him pursuing me but I am in love with him. I'm sorry. So sorry.

"You should have told me.

"I didn't want to hurt you.

"Finding out at the engagement is better?

"Sorry.

"I suppose I am at fault too. I knew you were in love with him then. I even knew you started seeing me to make him jealous. But I was hoping ... and when I saw you with him again I could feel that there was something. I was in denial. But I love you Aarti. I want you to be happy. You deserve it. You deserve to be with the love of your life.

"But the engagement.

"Come he said simply and took her by the hand.

Yash was standing with his hand in his pocket waiting for Aaman to come. He was looking for Arpita. He just wanted to get out of here. He happened to glance up and saw her coming from the balcony with Prashant hand in hand shattering his broken heart even more. He couldn't look away and suddenly he realised they were walking in his direction.

They came to a stop in front of him.

"Some people are destined to be happy with the person they love. Prashant said. He took Yash's hand and put Aarti's in it. "Promise me you will love and protect her always.

"I promise. Yash said finally realising what was happening.

"Now for the hard part. The parents. Shall we?

The followed him still hand in hand. The auditorium was suddenly hushed as people were noticing what was going on.

Both sets of parents were looking at them in shock and distress.

"Prashant? his mother said.

"Ma, Bauji. Mammaji, Pappaji. Aarti and I have decided to go through with the engagement. She is in love with Yash and he loves her too. And I think it is only right that they should be together. Don't you?

"But here? Now? Aarti's mother said.

"Sorry Ma. It just happened.

And all the money that was spent on the engagement.

"I am sorry. So sorry. I will re-reimburse everyone for all the expenses. Yash said.

"This is embarrassing. Prashant's mom said.

"I know it's awkward. And people will talk but I don't care. Soon they will have something else to gossip about. I will make an announcement and then we can leave.

"Prashant, thank you. I could never have done what you did.

"I guarantee, as much as you love her, if she was happier with me, you would have let her go. That is what is making it easier for me.

Yash smiled and nodded.

Prashant made the announcement and requested that everyone stay and finish the refreshments. But they all left.

Yash went to Aarti's house to apologise and to convince them that nothing untoward happened. They were no overly happy but the agreed to the marriage if their daughter was happy.

They stood in the entrance hall of her home just holding each other.

"Happy darling.

"So happy. I love you. But what about your parents? Will they accept me after everything?

"Yes, they will. They want me to be happy just as your parents want you to be happy. And you make me very happy. I love you so much. I am so grateful to Prashant. No wonder you were so faithful to him. He is an awesome person. I will forever be indebted to him.

"Yes he is. But he is not the man that I am in love with. she smiled up at him.

He kissed her gently.

"You won't object to a quick wedding, will you?

"I've waited long enough for you, so no.

"Great. Then let me go and speak to me parents so we can get the ball rolling. He kissed her again, more passionately this time and left.

There was no big engagement. Only immediate family. But the wedding was huge. Aarti felt like a bystander in her own wedding planning. Arpita, Ishita and Yash and Aaman's sisters were all over the place and taking over the planning. It was so amusing. She didn't mind at all. She would just sit peacefully and talk to her soon to be mother in law. Luckily they had good taste and experience in function planning.

She didn't see much of Yash but they were constantly talking on the phone and texting. It still seemed surreal to them sometimes. But when the awesome reality set in they were happy.

He insisted on getting her outfits for each of the ceremonies himself. And every time she looked exquisite. And then the final day came. The wedding was at SM. It was outside in the garden with marquees. The dcor was done to perfection. Elegant simplicity, fitting their personalities.

Yash sitting in the mandap anxiously waiting for his bride. And when he finally saw his bride being led out of the house, he got up immediately to go and fetch her shocking the guest. Her face was veiled. He stopped in front of her and removed her veil to one of her heart melting smiles.

"You are supposes to wait for me at the mandap.

"I couldn't wait anymore. You look beautiful. I want to see your face. I don't want this veil.

She giggled.

"Come he said taking her by the hand to the mandap. And he did not let her hand go for the duration of the rituals. Finally everything was done and they were taking their parents blessings as husband and wife. Both so happy to finally be where they belong. The wedding ceremony was fun. She enjoyed the way the family had fun together and made her part of it. Her husband was never far from her all the time. He clearly couldn't wait for the latter part of the celebrations. And soon she entered the home as wife and bahu.

She was wondering where her new husband disappeared to. She had been looking for him but he seemed to have disappeared. For the first time that day she was nervous. Just because he wasn't near her or where she could see him. She was still searching with her eyes, pretending to listen to yet another aunty that was giving her some pearls of wisdom about marriage.

"Sorry, Aunty. It's time for Aarti to go to her bridal room. it was Arpita and Ishita.

"Where is Yash she asked.

"He will meet you there later.

"But ... but ...:

"But what? asked Ishita.

"Nothing she replied. How could she say she needed him now? She followed them to the room. When she entered the room was dim with only candlelights. She could see him standing at the patio doors of the balcony, his back to her. She was so relieved.

"Have fun Arpita an Ishita left giggling.

He turned around and frowned.

"You sure took your time.

"You left me alone. she said crossly.

"I was here waiting for you.

"And I was looking for you. Since when does the groom leave to go to the bridal room first? It is not done, Yash Scindiya. I wanted you to carry me to the room and ... Oh I don't know what happens after but yes ... I wanted this the traditional way.

"You traditional, I don't think so.

"I am not sure how to take that.

"So go out.

"Huh?

"Go out so I can carry you inside.

"Absolutely not.

"Fine then. he walked towards her and scooped her up.

"What are doing?

"What you wanted.

"Put me down, idiot. If I knew Mr Grumpy No Nonsense would be waiting for me tonight I would never have married you.

"Is that so? Who did you fall in love with then?

She looked at him angrily. After a few seconds her expression softened. She smiled with all the love in her heart she said.

"With Mr. Grumpy No Nonsense.

"And I fell in love with this very beautiful smile. he smiled back. "I love you sweetheart, your smile, and your heart, just all of you. I am so happy you are finally mine.

"Oh I beg to differ Mr. Scindiya. I am not completely yours yet. But I am hoping that will be remedied tonight. I want to be your wife in every sense tonight.

"Oh trust me, you will be my wife tonight he was surprised but ecstatic with her attitude towards their wedding night.

"Please. she whispered back.

He walked with her still in his arms to the bathroom. He had already prepared a scented candlelight bath. There was an ice-bucket with some non-alcoholic champagne and strawberries in cream.

"All set to seduce innocent me? she said.

"How was I to know that my wife would be so eager?

"Are you complaining?

His response was to bring his lips down on hers for a passionate kiss. Then he put her down and started to undress her. He could feel her suddenly tense up.

"Relax honey. I love you. We will take this one step at a time. You trust me don't you?

"Yes. she whispered as she relaxed.

The night was all that they had anticipated. He took so much care to make her first time pleasurable. Always being mindful of her inexperience, and this made her want to give him all that she had to give. Yes, there was pain but that dimmed in comparison to the joy of the love that they were sharing to cement their union in the most intimate sense.

He appreciated her receptive responses. Her every action reflected love and trust. And it made him even more determined to never disappoint her. The tears that flowed from her eyes was less for the pain that she felt and more for the intense emotions she felt in receiving and giving love in its physical form. And the love in her eyes made him react the same. Their tears mingled as their bodies were one and their hearts were and would always be inseparable. And finally they reached an incomparable plateau that was more pleasurable than either could have imagined.

They still clung together in the aftermath.

"Happy love.

"So happy she breathed. I already love being Mrs. Grumpy No Nonsense. she said breathlessly.

"I love my Smiley Wifey. BTW, I have a confession to make.

"What? she asked.

"That first day at the office, I stole your cell phone so I could see you again. And I won't apologise for it.

She giggled.

"OMW, I married a thief. It's fine though. I forgive you because I stole something more important from you.

"What?

"Your heart.

"That you did. I still can't believe you are all mine.

"In that case I will have to prove it to you again and again. But now I am tired and want to sleep.

"Me too, but be sure that I will take you up in your offer, Mrs Grumpy,

She laughed and snuggled closer to him and fell asleep in seconds. Again he watched her adoringly until he too fell asleep. Both were totally and securely happy.

How romantic to run into your first love and then have him pursue you so relentlessly? so absolutely dreamy! after reading this story I was always left with a silly grin on my face and I suppose in no better condition then Aarti herself! 😳 😆

So their hearts chose the other for their own when they were mere students but they let their heads interfere in the process and things went awry. Aarti could have kicked herself on the foot had she known she had been on the brink of achieving what she wanted but lost it precisely when she decided to do something about it. But her personality was such that Yash had no clue that he held a special place in her heart; he felt like just one of many even as he was charmed by her smile and her personality. so sadly, both lost out on the chance to start their story sooner...

but things always happen as they should and although they were destined to be, they had to have their individual growth first before their lives merged again. but this time Yash was not willing to leave things up to chance, he took matters into his own hands by stealing her phone. that part still has me giggling btw 😆. and when before he could not say two words to her this time he just could not let her go. and when others cowed at his serious demeanor, for Aarti it had always been part of his charm. building on what they knew about each other from the past and their unexplored feelings, they formed an instant rapport. Uhh how I enjoyed their banter in the restaurant .

it is quite telling that he was the first person that she chose to tell when she got her job. she wanted to share a little piece of her happiness with him because deep down she yearned to share so much more but could not. yet those stolen moments on their night out brought out those very feelings, and that they were still very much in love. he was so possessive of her that he did not like other men admiring her when he himself did not have the freedom to and that's where his passion for her began to surface.

but just as she wants things on her own merit, Aarti is loyal to a fault. she was willing to subject herself, Yash, and even Prashant to misery just so she did not hurt him after he had been so faithful to her for so long. but Yash lost her before due to his inaction and this time he was determined that things would turn out different. how much conviction he had when he told Aaman that she would be his! his family had to know it too even if poor Aarti was so awkward. but even when she was denying it, it was loud and clear for all to see that her heart had chosen Yash and only Yash. but I love that she did not just give in easily because it gave us those moments that made us swoon and grin silly throughout the story my favorite was the flower incident and the anger she displayed with so much authority, not aware that she was already treating him like her own. and how she called him up after the picnic at his "humble" home. 😆

but yes, love can never be denied and even Prashant realized that her happiness was with Yash. now that is true love, to love so unselfishly, poor Prashant 😭. but I can imagine that he will soon find the one woman who will love him completely and make him happy too.

now AarYa can enjoy their love, and cute banters for eternity. and now Yash won't have to steal anything else to have her by his side because he already stole her heart without even realizing it.

oh yea, forgot to mention that I loved the friendship between Yash and Aaman and how the two got along with so much ease. I also loved how they conspired for Yash to have Aarti all to himself for a few days so he could break down the walls she was stubbornly trying to keep up even while she was losing so miserably.

You can obviously tell by now that I absolutely had the best fun reading this romantic and completely dreamy story Honey-Bee! ❤️ I don't mind harassing you for as much as I can if this is the result! now quit being lazy and get back to the rest of your stories! 😡

so, did you like my copy/paste? 😆

Such a sweet story..😃
It was so adorable when they realized that both had a crush on each other in university, poor Yash, I can just imagine how crestfallen he was at the thought. And the attraction is still as strong as back then. He couldn't help himself and took his chance and she knew she was playing with fire yet both couldn't resist the pull. I suppose thry had to know where this could lead and not regret it later.
Poor Aarti, she owe it to Prashant to remain loyal and she tried, really tried but the throes of love was getting to her and of course in the end she couldn't married him since she was consumed by thoughts and desire for another man.

Ah Yash, so nice , charming and natural around her; I like his behavior. His meeting with Aarti gave him a new purpose and this time he was determined to win his love. So funny how he talked in double entendre at the function, his possessive words toward Prashant, introducing her to his parents like they were going to announce an future engagement 😆. Well played Yash. And even more from Aaman who lucky for Yash was in his corner and helped him. The trip turned into an setup but a nice one to convince Aarti that this was mean to be; she show such vulnearibitly and sadness when she said you won't like it, she wanted him so much.

I suppose I should have been shocked that he was pursuing someone in a relationship but she showed him signs that she too was affected. She tried to denied it yet wanted to please him at the same time. She was flattered by his attention and pursuit.

Hats off for Prashant for not forcing the issue , since Aarti was determined to suffer thru the engagement, and realize that she would never be in loved with her. On the other hand he could have break it off knowing that she didn't have the same feeling, although if she didn't met Yash again , they may have been content. I am kind of sad for Prashant 😕

Well the weeding night show 😳that Mr Grumpy and Mrs Smile will never get bored in their marriage. So fun and loving.

Wonderful story 👏👏
