I love the mother daughter relationship, it's amazing when your mother is your best friend and you can bare your soul and still get that motherly comfort as a bonus. Having loved deeply and passionately she knows where her daughter is coming from.

My my! Prashant acted like a kid who got his fav toy taken away! Had he not reacted so violently he would have had more of my sympathy. But I do get where he's coming from, he's in the same shoes as Aarti with Yash. He was patient in his pursuit of her but to what end? Only to lose her without even having her. But he was wrong in insulting her, what would their marriage have been like? Would he have sulked and gotten violent if she could not bring herself to love him?

I'm a little angry that she forgave Yash so easily after he flaunted their business to his sisters though. She should have let him suffer a while! But he was not conscious of the implications because his heart already accepted her and such actions feel natural... But it's her virtue she has to protect and if they end up together as she hopes, these girls will look up to her, might judge her for it. Who knows what they will tell his parents? will they accept her if they learn about that. but then I guess his parents don't have the best relationship judging by how he feels about marriage and commitment.

Yet I get that Aarti forgave him because she cannot afford not to spend every waking moment that she can with him because she does not know how long that is, even as she hopes it will be a lifetime. But there are those rare moments that keep hope alive. the way he misses her when she is away, his possessiveness, and how he takes care of her needs all the time. he is a fool but she can feel his love from just his touch. she does not hope that he loves her, she hopes that he realizes he does!

as for the heat factor! 🤢 He had been starved for a month and got there the moment she got back to Mumbai! Am surprised he didn't wait for her inside there! And I won't even comment about the beach scene! 🤢 🤢

so yes, still an absolute SCORCHER! but it does not overshadow the objective of the story in the least! one can still get Aarti's desperation and continued hope, and Yash's changing feelings and resultant confusion!

wonderfully penned Honey-Bee! šŸ‘

P.S. have a headache so I mostly copied and pasted!

Sadly the relationships range from beautiful and supportive and dysfunctional. She had instant raport with his sisters and this will continue. her relationship with her mother will remain as is. What she know about the relationship between her parents is what is making her pursue her piece of happines that she believes to be in him on more than one occasion. But his family relationship is what is making him the way he is so that are opposing ends of the relationship spetrum if there is such a thing. He believes he wants on the phyiscal but can;t seem to let her go. And he does for her what any man does for a woman he cares for but he is also new to this so does not think things through with her. He treats her like he owns her but denies that he interested in long term. he expects her to stay on his terms and has nothing to offer in return.
A bit of revelation next😃

Chapter 3

Aarti's experiences in the USA was phenomenal. It felt like they were a couple in the true sense of the word. It was so much more free than in India. They could show affection openly without being judged, especially being an unmarried couple. Not that she had stopped hankering for the whole nine yards. She loved him and wanted to be his wife. They lived at a beachfront loft apartment in California. So they would go for regularly walks, hand in hand, not worrying about who saw them. He would grab her often and kiss her. At first it fell very awkward but gradually she got used to it, and she loved it.

The apartment was spacious with one bedroom, as they only needed one of course. There was huge study with two desks. He had specifically requested this from the rental agent. They worked from there most of the time but their meetings were at the client's office or they would have meetings at coffee shops and restaurants. The work was intense and gruelling as the client was very demanding. After all they were being remunerated more than handsomely for their craft. Aarti lead on the project as Yash still had his other projects and management duties of S&A to perform. He had frequent conference calls to India. But she didn't mind. The job was stretching her but gave her invaluable experience and would like great on her portfolio. And she wanted to give her best as the clients trusted her as well as Yash.

She loved working with him. As when she was studying, the rapport was awesome. They ran things by each other and brainstormed on almost everything. But she was the one that formulated their ideas into presentations. However they did have disagreements sometimes. It annoyed her that he was so hard assed sometimes in his way of thinking when she knew her way of doing things was better. But just as he was an expert at his job, so was she. And no matter what was happening between them, they both knew he would not have appointed someone that did not have ability to do the job as she could. He was first and foremost a businessman.

Yash was used to making unilateral decisions and no one generally questioned him. Now this chit of a girl dared to disagree with him about his opinions. But she was excellent at her job and would quickly get him to agree to her way of thinking and she was always proven right. They worked hard but they also had time to do some traveling and sightseeing as well. It was not his first time in the USA or California. But he just loved experiencing everything with her. She was like a little child in a candy store.

They made love at will but made sure the work got done. He soon realised that she was not a morning person and he would battle to get her out of bed in the morning but she could easily work till the early hours of the morning. And making love in the morning made it even worse, because then she wanted sleep some more afterwards. Whereas he was normally up early and would go for his run. He did the same here. By the time he got back from his run and showered she would still be sleeping. He usually made breakfast and coffee to get her out of bed.

"Come on Sleepy Head. Wake up."

"I'm awake."

"Aarti"

"I promise, I'm awake."

"Sit up."

"Mmm" she moaned in protest. "Just 5 minutes."

"No, I've been up for hours."

"And so?"

"Come on, S&A is not paying you a small fortune to sleep the day away."

"S&A does not pay me to stay up past midnight or to keep the boss happy."

"The boss is not happy right now. Get up!" he said pulling the bedding off her.

"Fine"she finally got up groggily.

"Good morning baby." he smiled.

"Where is my coffee?" she asked angrily.

"Right here, sweetheart. Ask nicely"

She shot him another angry glare.

"Fine, fine. here you go. But from tomorrow there will be a new morning ritual."

"What?"

"You are going running with me."

"In your dreams."

"No, this is happening. I need the exercise to keep up my strength as you wear me out. So you will have to do the same."

"Nooo" she moaned again like a child.

"I will let you rest some more today and tomorrow my darling you will have more than one type of exercise." he said and walked away to the office leaving her exasperated.

And true to his word the next morning he woke her up.

"Morning, darling."

"Nooo."

"Yes, we are going for the run as agreed"

"No, I have something better in mind."

"Aarti ..."

But before he could stop her she was kissing him and he was lost. She giggled as she kissed him in his neck and moved down to his chest, caressing his muscular arms, moving systematically down his already naked form. Finally reaching his erect member and giving him immense pleasure. Afterwards she was looked at him very pleased with herself and ready to dose off again.

"Not so fast Ma'am."

He got up, pulled the blankets off her as he usually did and went one step further. He started pulling out of bed.

"Now, you are getting up. We are going to run."

"But ... but..."

"No, but's. You are getting up and running with me."

"I don't have anything to wear."

"Oh yes you do. I went shopping yesterday."

"Baby, I have another proposal. But only if you come back to bed."

"Oh no, you seduction won't work this time. He picked her up and carried her to the shower and put on the cold water full blast."

She screamed.

"I hate you Yash Scindiya!"

But ultimately he made her run with him every morning. She was so unfit and sometimes she would just walk while he ran ahead and then run or walk back with him. She really hated it at first but she got used to it and started enjoying it and she felt better and more energetic too, much to the delight of both of them.

They were nearing the end of their time in the USA.

The project had been completed for the most part and they would still continue to be contracted the clients on a consultancy basis but for that they did not need to be in the USA. She was getting anxious but he seemed fine with the status quo. But she needed things to come to a head. And she knew what the outcome would be. She had been in regular contact with Amaan all the while and knew that partnering with him was her best option for now. That was the only thing that she could look forward to. She was on the balcony talking to Amaan on the phone making arrangements for her to join him when she felt his presence. She ended the call quickly as she saw the look of anger on his face.

"What was that?"

"What do you mean?"

"Are you joining Sengupta?"

"Yes" she swallowed hard.

"So you are not going to go back to Mumbai with me."

"When was that ever discussed?"

"I assumed after the time we spent here, that would be the natural progression."

"And if I go to Mumbai, what happens then?"

"We can live at the beach house again."

"No, Yash. No. I can't do this anymore. This is it. When we leave here it is final."

"Why. Why does it have to be?"

"Because ... "she was now in tears. "Because I want a commitment. I want marriage. I want love."

"All overrated!"

"That your opinion."

"It's the truth."

"No it is your truth. Mine is that I am hopelessly in love with you and I have been desperately trying to hold onto a semblance of happiness just being near you. Sharing just a part of your life. Even if it was just your body. It made me happy. But every time we come to this point where we have to separate and I am broken. It was my choice and I am not blaming you for any of this. I could have refused but I wanted to be with you. But I can't do this anymore."

"So what now."

"I will go home and hopefully convince mom to relocate with me and then go to Dehli."

"And us."

She closed her eyes.

"I don't want to see you anymore Yash."

"You say you love me, yet you are prepared to leave me? What a great way of showing me what love is."

"Yash, please. Be reasonable, I do love you but it just hurts too much to have to let you go all the time. I can't stay and always wonder when it will end. I want a home not just a love nest, I want a husband not just a lover and I wanted a family, children. Can you give me that?"

"And what if you have all that and you are still not satisfied. What if you discover that you didn't really love me after all and someone else comes along that you fall in love with. What then?"

"Yash ..."

"No, there are no guarantees. Love is not real. Marriage is archaic custom imposed by society to give them a means to judge. I will not fall into the trap. Not for you or anybody. If this is your way of forcing my hand, you can forget about it."

"How can you say that? Have I ever made demands on you?" she was absolutely crushed at the accusation.

"There is no forever Aarti. Let me tell you what I know about love and relationships. My mother is not my biological mother. My father fell in love with my mother, but he could not fight for her. He married the woman that his parents chose for him. He abandoned my mother, the woman he supposedly loved. And my step-mother always knew that he didn't love her, yet she accepted me as part of the family, to make him happy but she never could. I resented her, but she loved me and when my mother died she was the one I turned to for consolation. And even her, she also "fell in love". How surprised was I when in my rebellious teens I went away with my friends one weekend and saw my step-mom there with my uncle, my father's younger brother. He came to speak to me that weekend and tried to explain that they "fell in love." He begged me not to tell Bauji and I never did. He didn't deserve to know after how he treated her. We never spoke of it afterwards, not when he moved to the UK with his family afterwards or how much time he spends with Palak and showers her with love and presents when he is in India. Even more than he does his "own" children. That is what love is. That is how things work out. It just leaves people lonely and unhappy."

Aarti had clamped her hand to her mouth in shock listening to him. She could now understand why his concept of love was so warped.

"Yash, I am so sorry. That all sounds horrible and I can understand why you would choose not to believe in love after that. But honey, that is not how it always works out."

"Yes, it is. So you want to go, then go!" he shouted. He went to the walk in closet and grabbed her suitcase and started stuffing clothes into it.

"Yash, please stop."

He closed the suitcase and threw it at her. It would have hit her had she not jumped out of the way in time.

"You are right, you should go and that we should never see each other again. Go, just F- off." she was stunned into silence at his outburst.

He walked passed her and she sank to the floor as she sobbed. She heard the car pull off. Eventually she got up and re-packed her things and made her way to airport to get on the first flight back to India.

**********************************************

Aarti was sitting in the food court waiting for her mother, she was not in the mood to walk around anymore.

"Look Didi, its Aarti-bhabhi."

Aarti looked up and saw Vidhi and Palak. After more than a year they still recognised her.

"How are you Aartiji?" asked Vidhi.

"Fine and you" she smiled.

"Aah, looks like she will not be our Bhabhi after all said Palak. Look Didi, isn't the baby too cute."

"She's gorgeous." said Vidhi.

"What's her name bhabi?"

"Payal."

Palak looked at the baby and started talking to her. She looked up at Vidhi and saw the look of realisation in her eyes.

"Ma, ma, come look at the pretty baby." called Palak.

Aarti got and up from her seat.

"I have to go now."

The older lady came over looked at Payal with a smile.

"Oh she is too gorgeous. How old is she?"

"3 months old."

"You and your husband must be so happy. But wait, my daughters are so rude. They did not even introduce us. I am G3 Scindiya."

"Namaste, Mrs. Scindiya. I am Aarti."

"Please to meet you. How do you know my girls?"

"She is bhayia's friend." said Palak. "I wanted her to marry bhayia but now she can't. Here he comes."

Aarti looked up at the direction in which Palak faced. He face went ashen as she saw him approaching. Her heart was palpitating. He came to a standstill in front of her. Palak had now picked up the baby.

"Look, bhayia, Aarti-bhabhi has the cutest baby."

He looked at the baby and at Aarti. She saw the same anger in his eyes as she saw that last night that she saw him. Again he just walked away.

"Yash," his mother called after him confused.

"Excuse me, I have to go." she said and took Payal from Palak and hastily walked off in the direction of the shop that her mother was in.

Two days later she was sitting in her office when her assistant told her that he was there. She told her to let him in.

He came in and sat on the chair across from her.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't think you would be interested."

"I have a child and you did not think I would be interested to know?"

"Yash, I didn't want to be accused of trying to trap you."

"Then what did you do. I thought you were careful."

"I was, but nothing is fail proof. I certainly would not have planned this. Not with you. You have made it perfectly clear how you felt about relationships and a family. And you need not concern yourself with us now."

"My mother figured it out and demands that we get married."

"You can tell you mother that it is not going to happen."

"I want to see her."

"Why?"

"Because she is my daughter."

"Yash, you don't have to feel obligated. She is fine."

"Where is she now?"

"With my mom. She agreed to move here to help me with the baby."

"My family wants to see her as well."

"Just tell them, you found out that she is not yours after all. Simple."

"I don't walk away from my responsibilities. She is my daughter and will not be raised with the stigma of being illegitimate. I know what that feels like. You have 2 options. You marry me or you give me full custody of the baby. I will get married and give her a family anyway. It's what you always wanted from me isn't it. Now you have your wish." he said, his voice loaded with accusation.

She banged her hand on the desk.

"I will not be intimidated by you Yash Scindiya. And I will not just give my child up to you. Yes, I wanted to marry you then but you didn't want commitment and I gave you what you wanted. Now you are the one that wants to force me into marriage. I am not going to just give in to your demands."

"Fine, then we will do it the hard way.

"What do you mean?"

"I will have my daughter with me, no matter what I have to do to achieve that. I doubt that you would like your mom to read about your escapades in the media."

"I have always been up front with my mother."

"That is one thing it is another to read about it in the newspaper and even see pictures."

"What pictures?" she asked anxiously.

He threw her a flash disk on her desk.

"Look at it at leisure and let me know what you decide. Of course I will be very selective of the ones I would use, if you force my hand. You are still the mother of my child."

She was mortified at the pictures that he had on the flash disk. It was private pics that she had sent to him during the times that they were seeing each other, even from the very first time. There were intimate pictures that he took of her and of them together as well. Some were just of them in an embrace or kissing but some were very revealing and erotic. These were often used as a measure of foreplay and were meant only for the two of them to enjoy. She could not believe that he would stoop to that level. He was blackmailing her into something that she would have done more than happily not so long ago. She had loved him. But she clearly did not really know him. The way he behaved that last night that they were together in the USA, the lack of acknowledgment when they met in the shopping mall for her and their child and now this. This was not the man she fell in love with. In fact, she hated this ego-maniacal, cold hearted control freak.

She called him the next day.

"So what is your reply?"

"You already know. I can't put my mother through more shame and heart ache and I don't want those pictures ever to get back to my daughter one day. I suppose Prashant was right. I was just your wh**e and now I am paying the price and have to share an eternal bond with a heartless monster."

"Don't worry baby. I will still make sure that you are a very satisfied wife."

"You won't touch me, do you hear me. Our marriage will be in name only."

He laughed, a cold mirthless laugh.

"We know that can't ever happen. I know you remember, in every sense of the word."

"I hate you."

"You have just proven my point Aarti. Love doesn't last does it?"

She slammed the phone down on him.

His first encounter with Payal was touching. She was lying in her cot getting very excited by the overhanging mobile. She was kicking and her feet and making little gurgling sounds. He just stared at her.

"Her name is Payal?" he asked.

"Yes"

"She's is beautiful"

"Yes, she is."

"Can I ... Should I ..." He sounded more insecure than she has ever seen him.

"You can pick her up, if you want."

"She won't cry?"

"She is a sweet baby. She only cries when she is hungry or needs to be changed."

He reached out to her but he could not quite find a way to pick her up. Aarti eventually picked her up and handed her to him.

"Just make sure you support her back and neck." she said as she handed Payal over to her father.

Yash was to absorbed in his daughter that he did not even notice her. He had never felt this before, this overwhelming love for a person that he hardly knew. Yes, he loves his family, especially his sisters were very dear to him, but this was at another level. She was so perfect, so beautiful and she was a part of him. His emotions were raw. The first time he saw her, he didn't know how to deal with the realisation that he had a child. He had seen Aarti from a distance talking to his sisters. First he was caught up in her that he didn't even see the baby. He wanted to go to her and take her in arms and just hold her. Then he was shocked when he realised that she was not alone. Not for a moment did he doubt that the baby was his and he had to compose himself. He was angry, angry all over again that she left him and angry that she hid his child from him. Again confirming to him that her words of love had no merit, because if it had she would not have kept his child away from him. He didn't know how to re-act and had to think about what he was going to do about the situation. That is why just walked off.

This feeling he felt now could not even compare with anything he had felt before. It felt better than securing the biggest contract or the best industry acknowledgement. This was it. This was his biggest achievement and everything that was precious to him. She smiled at him and grabbed his finger and tears rolled down his cheeks. He was oblivious to everything else at that moment. Just this piece of his hear that he was holding.

For the first time she saw Yash Scindiya speechless and in awe. She could see the love in his eyes for his daughter. She felt her heart starting to melt for him and the tears prickling her eyes. She left the room in a hurry.

The meeting with his parents was very awkward. His mother looked very uncomfortable and his father very unimpressed. He seemed oblivious to all of this. Her mother was not happy either. Although she was not aware of the circumstance of the marriage, she knew there was something amiss. Yash had been around to see Payal and her mother had given him a piece of her mind for stringing her along and leaving her pregnant. But Yash could be very charming. He managed to convince her that had he known that she was pregnant, he would never have abandoned her and that now he wanted to do right by Aarti and the baby. And her mother could see that he loved Payal. But she was also aware that Aarti was not happy.

"Sweetheart, this is what you have always wanted, so why are you not happy. Don't you love him anymore?"

"Ma, for a moment I thought I didn't love him anymore, but I was deluding myself. But I don't like him anymore and I don't want to marry him but I have no choice."

"What do you mean? You always have a choice."

"No I don't."

"Aarti ..."

"Ma, this is best for Payal. She will have both her parents together. And he loves her so that is good enough for me. That is why I don't have a choice." She did not want to burden her mother with her problems more than she had to.

"I know he loves you. He is just in denial."

"He doesn't love me, I have come to terms with that now. I am not going to make myself miserable by hoping anymore. Maybe he is right. True love is just a myth. Because my love can't be true if it is nor reciprocated, isn't It.?"

"Baby, I hate to see you like this. All I can tell you is what I know. I loved your father and he loved me. Yes, we had arguments but our love was true and intense until he died. Maybe he had to die early so that it could remain that way, I don't know. But that it was what I experienced and when I look at you, I see the manifestation of that love. No one can convince me otherwise."

"So what have I done to deserve this Mom? Am I being punished because I had an intimate relationship before marriage?

"No, baby. You are father and I didn't wait for marriage either. And I am not telling you because I am proud of it or saying that it the right way of doing things. Like you I fell in love and I wanted to express it in every way I could. But he married me, almost immediately after that and we were happy for the time we were together. Then we had you. I probably fell pregnant that first time too but by the time I found out we were already married. And I don't believe God is vengeful. Even if you did wrong, there is forgiveness. You acted in love. You did not sleep around. You only ever gave yourself to the man you love. But baby, if you don't want to get married I will support you. I just want my baby to be happy.

She smile woefully.

"I love you so much mom."

Though the proposal was a terse affair but what stood out for Aarti was her future mother in law.

"Shobaji, I know you moved to Dehli to help Aarti with the baby and now she was is moving to our house. Please would you consider also joining our family and living with us."

"No, G3ji, I can't do that."

"Please, you will do us a huge honour. And I know it will make Aarti bahu's transition into the family easier. I know you too are very close."

"Please Ma, this is all of our wish" Said Yash.

Aarti was so happy. She had been concerned about her mother on her own in Dehli or even move back to Bhopal when she moves to Mumbai.

She looked at her mother entreatingly.

"Fine, I will do it and we will see how it goes."

"Thank you Shobaji."

She had agreed with Amaan that she would continue to work from Mumbai. Yash agreed even though the companies served the same function, their company was not competition for a big concern like S&A. So the marriage was arranged for a month from the proposal date to give her enough time to finalise things in Dheli and relocate. She did not look forward to it in the least.

Oh Bee-Bee... This is not done. Here I was so ecstatic about giving a big comment for the update but you really left me thunderstruck with the turn of events. I couldn't even believe and digest that he would stoop this low as to leak their intimate pics to the media. I just went through the motions after what followed that scene.

I really would've killed Aarti for having loved someone who is not she supposed him to be or she believed he would be some day, let alone the fact that true love is blind and unconditional.

And may he rot in hell for his dirty self. He is now going to do the very thing he accused her of and she would be insane if she doesn't hate him for the same. And he had the gall to openly state that he would even claim his husbandly rights against her will. Such a selfish and cynical psycho.

I dont know how you're gonna shape up the plot further but much as I love this story and as a typical Aarya fan want the leads to unite against all odds, I don't think I can digest Aarti accepting him back without showing him the mirror and a reality check for having blackmailed her in the most disgusting way for marriage, which is highly unforgivable. I highly hope it turns out that way.

They live in their bubble for a while until reality intrudes, well the other stuff they carefully avoid knowing where it would lead. Aarti knew Yash wold be inflexible and Yash thought he could control the outcome just because Aarti gave in to his demands each time so far. But of course leaving in America and back home, not the same things and the fact that Yash is only looking for his own enjoyment show how much he is afraid or just selfish. From his tale, he has irrational fears and traumatized. The irony is that they been leaving like a married couple and been in love so long that it did not register in his mind that he has been in a committed relation for the past years. Somehow he was waiting for Aarti to abandoned him, in his mind, and now that has happened (well again in his mind) he can move on from the place he his stuck on. His reaction was that of a little boy who didn't get his way and now time to grow up and act like a mature man who understand that life is not something one can control.
I am disappointed in Yash but not surprise at his reaction when Aarti refuses him, he doesn't know other way and still stuck on the she left me part. The picture blackmail was a low blow and to stoop to that level is leaving a bad taste for me and there is no excuse for doing it. But I also blame Aarti for agreeing to be shot like that, in today day and age, intimate pictures area simply too risky, case in point when your ex-boyfriend blackmail you with it.

Now I am wondering where they'll go fro there but wouldn't he be ironic if now Aarti is the one doubting love when Yash finally get a revelation and tried to convince her that he was wrong. 😲Hum!
Great chapter
