The home coming
"Please bauji be reasonable. You have to understand that I cannot stay here anymore. You have seen how Ma has been treating us. Even when I was the one that brought Akash into this house. I was the one that even convinced Ma to accept him. Now all she wants is her biological son. The son that she raised and supposedly loved means nothing to her anymore. It didn't matter to me when she hurt me and threw me out of the house, but to abuse and accuse my wife like that is unacceptable. We don't need this bauji. Aarti is pregnant and you know she had a condition due to stress before. I will not put my wife and baby's life in danger. Not even for you or Ma. Bauji I am not entitled to all of your estate. I will accept my place as the illegitimate son, but please may I ask that I still retain a position in the company so that I can support my family."
"Yash, you know you belong here more than anybody. Please stop this nonsense. I will talk to your mother and she will come to her senses. She will see that that Akash is manipulating her."
"I doesn't matter anymore bauji, we are going."
"Bahu, talk some sense into Yash."
"Yashji, please consider what bauji is saying. You can see how distraught the children are. Please I can handle all of this as long as we are together. Please can we stay? I know your family means the world to you and I don't want you to leave on my account."
Yash was furious with her now. She was always the one that was subservient to everybody, took everybody's abuse to her own detriment. She who had done so much for the family was accused of arranging an attack on their son, stealing jewellery and his mother threatened to burn her with boiling water. He could kick himself for allowing her to talk him into letting his mother throw her with the water. Thank the gods it turned out that the water was cold."
"Aartiji, Enough. Have you forgotten everything that has been said and done against you and against me? Have you forgotten how you were almost raped at that bar by Akash's friends had I not arrived in time. You forgive so easily Aarti, but this time I won't. If you can't look out for yourself, then I will and I fear for your safety in this house. We are going. Sorry bauji, I ask your forgiveness for going against your will and I ask you to consider giving me the job but I won't accept ownership of your belongings while you are still alive"
They went to Rhada-ma's house but it was clear that they would have to move soon. The children were not accustomed to this kind of living conditions. Yash managed to rent better accommodation for them soon. He still worked for his family business so he had no money issues. They did have visits from his brothers and sisters in law and those events were normally fun. It appeared that things at SM were deteriorating. Akash kept pushing G3 for more and more money and things whilst the relationship between G3 and Suraj Pratap had practically disintegrated. His brothers never missed an opportunity to ask him to come back home.
Yash thought it would be easier for everyone if they moved out but he was wrong. His wife felt guilty as she blamed herself for separating them from their family and home. Rahda-ma felt guilty about her role in the whole debacle and she really missed Akash. No matter how much she loved her biological son, she missed the son that she raised for 30 years. It really saddened her to see the man that he had chosen to become. Even Yash missed his family and he could see at work that the separation took its toll on his father.
G3 did not want to admit it to anybody but she was really missing Yash and his family. She suffered a lot of anxiety at home with Akash and his demands. Her other children were cold towards her because of the way she treated Yash. The only person on her side was Ishita, Akash's wife who tried hard to be the perfect bahu and to convince her that she did the right thing but in her heart of hearts she knew she had treated Yash and Aarti unfairly. She was so scared that she would never see her new grandson. She worried about Aarti's health. Although to the world and to her family, Yash was now her stepson, in her heart she still considered him her son and his children her very own grandchildren. Now that woman Radha has the privilege of being called his mother and grandmother to his children. She wanted them back but her pride would not allow her to make the first move. Her health was deteriorating because of all the emotional strain she was taking.
Yash would send his mother gifts from time to time just to assure her that she still had a place in his life. Even though they were not living together as a family anymore he still appreciated what she had done for him all his life.
G3's was finally taken up in hospital due to her poor health. Yash and Aarti went to visit her as they were concerned for her. They were worried about the reception they would get and were very surprised to see that she was happy to have them with her. She asked forgiveness and asked them to come back home. They spoke with her and visited but Yash was not ready to come back home. He was just not convinced that when Akash made his next demand that he would have to uproot his life and his family again. He did however agree to visit the family home on a regular basis.
Akash was furious at this. G3 just gave in and wanted to allow Yash back into the house. Ishita was happy because she preferred Yash close to her. She even preferred Aarti close to her to keep an eye on her. And she started to hatch her evil little plans to get rid of Aarti again. They had arranged a family function and Yash and Aarti were invited and she had a devious plan to get rid of Aarti and the baby. She had bought poison and had intended to put it in Aarti's drink.
Everyone was having fun and playing games outside in the family garden. Ishita had snuck off to do her evil deed. She took out a small bottle and threw it in one of the glasses of juice. She even spoke to herself and said
"I hope you are enjoying yourself today Aarti, as this will be your last day on earth."
But things things did not go as planned. G3 took the glass meant for Aarti. She instantly fell down and convulsed. Foam coming out of her mouth. By the time they reached the hospital it was too late.
Everyone was at home now crying and in despair when Vedhika remembered something. She was walking past the kitchen when Ishita was pouring the drinks and she had seen her put something from a small medicine like bottle in one of the glasses. She had wondered what it was but had not given a second thought till now.
"She went to her mother and told her what she saw."
Vidhi immediately confronted Ishita.
"Ishita, what was did you put in the juice. Vedhika saw you. What was it?"
"What are you talking about? It's all lies. I'm sure Aarti put her up to it."Ishita said trying to be innocent.
"Ishita, my daughter is not a liar. I would rather believe her than you." Vidhi shot back.
Vidhi grabbed her and shook her and the bottle fell out from where she was hiding it still knotted in her sarree. Everyone looked on with shock.
She tried to run away but Yash caught her.
"I didn't mean for ma to die. It was for Aarti, Yash please, I love you. You are mine. Leave that woman and come be with me. I will make you happy you'll see."
The next moment Akash grabbed her and slapped her.
"Is this why you have been planting all those things in my head. So that you can have my brother. I listened to you and became on outcast in my own house, with my own family. The people that invited me into this home had to leave because I believed your lies. I could have been accepted by this family but I was stupid enough to follow your sick plans. You're are truly a sick woman. You will be locked up for life for murder." Prateek and Pankaj were holding her now.
Akaash turned to Yash with his head bowed and hands together.
"I am so sorry Yash. I caused you and this family so much grief. Please forgive me and come back home. I will leave." There was true remorse in his voice. No drama or demands just genuine repentance.
"No Akash, this remains your home. And ours. If bauji will allow, we will come back home and we will all stay together like it is meant to be. That is what Ma would have wanted." The brothers hugged.
Ishita was arrested and not even her father's influence could get her out of jail. The night after the funeral, Yash and Aarti lay in bed. She held him while his head rested on her.
"Yash, my darling we are finally back home. It's like you said, ma would have wanted it like this. We must try and be happy for her. She might not be here in body, but she will always be with us. Everything in this house and in this family will keep her alive in our hearts. The best thing we can do for her now is be happy"
"Aarti, I love you. You always know the right thing to say to make me feel better."
"I love you too. Now give your wife a kiss."
And they started to enjoy their homecoming.
