Chapter 49

The brothers made their bed for Pankaj, Yash and Prateek it was reliving their younger days when they camped on their terrace or in the upper floor living room Akash was thrilled to be part of the boy gang with his brothers they had beer and snacks and made jokes.

Yash came out and asked Prateek about his married life if he was satisfied with Paridhi, the brothers took turn questioning him and found out that Prateek was indeed not ready for the adult responsibility of marriage. The young man was caught up in the physical sexual part and thought that would be enough

Prateek and Paridhi were on to different pages she wanted to be a working wife not ready for a family, she wanted to travel the globe be a superstar tv&radio personality.

Paridhi wants Prateek to establish himself and also support her dreams, she wanted them to move to Mumbai where she would get more exposure and live the jetset life. While Prateek wanted to live with his family he was happy being the spoilt son and doing jobs for his older brothers yes, he dreamt of being a famous chef but if that did not materialise he did not have a problem.

Yash said he will speak to the Scindia elders and convince them that Prateek and Paridhi needed to live apart for some time them consider if they want to continue their marriage or divorce. Whatever they decide they should support them G3 ma would be a problem because she would start looking for a wife for Prateek they need to convince her that he needs this time to mature and sought himself out.

Pankaj wanted to know more about Akash and Radha so he asked about his younger brother childhood Akash did mention that SP would spend many weeks at a time with them and when he was fourteen his parents told him about G3 and his brothers at first, he was shocked and begun rebelling but Radha ma sought him out and made him understand that thing happen in life where we have no control over. This is why he decided to have a love marriage instead of arranged.

Vidhi was so happy to spend this time with Aarti they talked late into the night and came to the conclusion that two nurses should be hired for G3's care and Vidhi with bua help will assist. Aarti would take her chances and visit but G3 needed time to accept Aarti as her niece and Ansh as her grandson.

The ladies discussed life with Radha ma, Akash and Ishita, Vidhi was still apprehensive of Ishita she thought had a hidden motive but Aarti told that Ishita is just straight forward and few years ago her parents had sent a marriage proposal to the Scindias for Yash and she was turn down because she is a handicap, when G3 ma met Ishita she made a few nasty comments about Ishita which she never forgot.

The following morning the ladies enjoyed preparing breakfast together Radha ma suggested that they all visit the temple and offering prays for G3's recovery before going to the hospital.

The men spoke to the doctors who said G3 was discharged and asked them to make the necessary arranements for her home care.

Vidhi entered G3's room and told her that she had new clothes for her to ware for her discharge, she assisted G3 to dress and packed her bag when Pankaj and Prateek came. "Ma are you ready we have your medications and arranged for a nurse to take care of you at home

"Why are you taking the trouble of hiring a nurse I can take care of myself "

"Ma you are still week and next week you have to return here for the second transplant we are not going to take any chances with your health the dr said because of your weekness you can fall and break a bone. As they saying goes prevention is better than cure

"Where is Paridhi bahu I am still not important to her. What a waste of a girl she is

"Ma Pari and I have decided we will give each other some space she want to work and you know how stubborn she can be, and I need to comcentrate on my career

"Ma Yash and Aarti are out side they want to visit with you before you leave here and want to know from you if they can visit you at home??

"They are adults not children why do they need my permission I am an old lady just waiting on my time to die if they want to visit let them and if they don't know one will force them

Yash and Aarti entered the hospital room "Ma said Yash going to hug her and kiss her cheeks. But G3 held back Aarti stood at the foot of the bed unsure what to do next "Namaste mummyji she finally said

"Namastey' replied G3 everyone felt strange because G3 was behaving cold towards Yash and Aarti

The nurse with an attendant pushing a wheelchair arrived SP came behind

"Mrs Scindhia come let me help you into the chair we will accompany you to the car said the nurse

The attendant pushed the chair to the car with the family following behind all went to their respective cars and drove to Scindia mansion.

Maya, a nurse, and the servants were wating at the doorway to do the welcome Arti for G3. The nurse took charge and settled G3 into her room Maya brought lunch for G3 and stayed with her to chat.

Yash and aarti came to visit and they first thing G3 said "I suppose you want me to thank you for Ansh bone marrow

"Well no ma it was our duty you are our mother and Ansh is your grandson said Yash

"No I am her maasi not your mother and yes Ansh is my grandson, and I did not ask for your help you people give it

"Mummyji why are you angry with us all we want is for you to get better and live your life see your grand children become adults and marry answered Aarti

"You are my younger sister daughter a lawyer like her and also very annoying like her. Did you not bring Ansh to see me next time bring my grandson

"Ma you also have two grand daughters who are also very worried for their dadiji

"Your daughters well I suppose they also have to come

"mummyji you loved Palak and Payel so much what has changed now??

"They are not my blood but Ansh is of my blood

Aarti reached out to a stumbling Yash she placed her arm around his waist to steady him "Mummyji how can you say that you love Yash so much he is your favourite child and they are his daughters

"That was in the past now I know I have only two sons and you Aarti are the closest I have to a daughter you are my blood and that makes Yash my son in law I have accepted him as that. Radha is his biological mother and my husband is his bilolgical father I can't change that.

Yash was heart broken by G3's words and tears begun pouring down his cheeks with Maya observed

"Bhabhi don't be so harsh with the boy he is your son you held him in your arms when her was a couple of hours old, you are the one who breast fed him and took care of him all his life, taught and guided him got him married loved his children, and he has loved you in return. Why are you punishing him he is not the one at fault; just forget that Radha give birth to him, you are the one that he called ma first, held his hand to walk his first steps, give him your blessing at every important step he made in life. How can you forget the love you have for your favourite son?

"Look I remember all that but those were the time I thought he was my biological son the shadow of his father. Now I know better he is Radha's son but he is my niece's husband and part of my family

"Ma please don't separate yourself from me I am your son it does not matter to me who is my biological mother is you are the one I spent my life with you helped me with my homework when I was little. Kept awake all night taking care of me when I was ill, taught me to respect all guided me through my first marriage with Aripta loved Palak and Payel so much. Why can't you understand you are my mother and thing have not changed in my head and heart. Okay so now I am your son in law fine at least you said I am still part of your family so you can't stop me from worrying or caring about you

Aarti came forward "mummyji please can't you see how upset Yash is why are you still clinging onto some kind of false pride, all of us have accepted our reality and have moved on, but we all still think of you as Yash mother not his stepmother but his ma. Yes we have learnt you are my maasiji and I am happy you have accepted this but Yash is your son your baby boy that you loved and worried for all his life.

"Excuse me if you two have stopped preaching to me it is time I get some rest. Look at what has happened now they have forgotton that I am their elder and are speaking to me as if I am their child G3 turned her body facing the other side of the wall making it obvious that they were dismissed.

The next wo weeks passed quickly and it was time for the second transplant. Dr said that G3 was improving physically. Aarya brought Ansh to visit weekly the girls also tagged along but were ignored by G3 this confused them at first but Aarti explained that their G3 dadiji needed time to get better. Still they questioned why she held Ansh in her arms and read a story to him and give him kisses on his cheeks but did not give any to them. They wanted to know if she was angry because Radha dadiji is their real dadi. Both Yash and Aarti were surprised at how observant the girls were Yash tried to cover up saying she was angry because of her illness and that she still loves them but was happy Ansh give her his bone marrow that is why she is now giving him so many kisses and hugs.

Aarti observed that the little ones were not happy with this answer but said nothing to their parents instead the three babies discussed it in their room and Aarti overheard their conversation

Palak "G3 dadiji used to love us so much Payel she would read to us, hug and kiss us before tell us how much she loves us then after she found out that papa is not her son she stopped talking to us

"Didi she stopped loving us when we came here to live with Radha dadiji. G3 Dadiji loves Ansh bhayia now because he and mama are her family her blood see Ansh bhayia give her his marrow mama said that helps make blood in our bodies.

"Don't say that Payel G3 dadiji love the two of you very much she is just confused and hurt answered Ansh "Mama said she is hurt because she loves papa so much and now she thinks papa loves Radha dadiji more than her so she is showing her anger by not speaking nicely with the two of you and papa

Aarti entered the room and told that it was bed time she tucked her babies in read them a story and give them kisses.

In her room she told Yash about the kids conversation they were worried about the effect this situation was having on their babies who were growing up to quickly.

Yash decided to once again confront G3 ma after she recovered from her second transplant.

The transplant was a success but Drs wanted to keep G3 overnight to oserve her recovery. The girls were allowed to visit her and they brought her flowers and a card G3 asked for Ansh but Aarti told he was sleeping off the anaesthesia this made G3 worried for her little guy as she calls him now. Aarti told he was fine and she should try and rest that the following day they will bring the kids to SM for a visit.

G3 felt much better when she arrived home she was looking forward to spending the evening with Ansh and the girls even if she did not express it she was happy to have Palak and Payel over.

During dinner Aarti begun having labor pains she was only seven months all became scared and Yash took her to the hospital he informed Radha ma,Akash, and Ishita.

The Dr examined Aarti and said the baby was in distress so an emergency C- section was needed. The family anxiously waited for the news that both mother and baby were fine after about one hour a nurse cam out and informed them that a boy was born and both mother and baby were okay that soon Aarti will be moved to the recovery room and Yash can visit her there.

A groggy Aarti was so happy to see her Yash first question she asked is "Did you see our boy he is cute nah?

"I saw him and the nurse allowed me to hold him for some time he is so cute and has all his fingers and toes Laughed Yash "His voice is strong cied out loud when the nurse took him back and placed him in the cot she said that he will be brought to you for his first feed when you settle down in your room.

"The family will want to see him the kids must be excited to have a baby brother?
"Yes they are Aaru I think you should have some rest now the nurse said that I can stay with you honey so relax and sleep will wil talk later

The baby was placed in an incubator and transported to the neonatal ward for observation the family saw the baby but could not touch him the kids were disappointed that they could not touch him and wondered why he was so tiny. The kind nurse explained that he needed to be kept warm and safe from germs because he needed to grow some more before he can be touched by his older siblings, that right now he can become sick easily so he has to stay in there to be safe. They want to know for how long the nurse answered until the drs said he is okay or big enough that it could be days or weeks.
