Chapter Thirty Two (Part ' 1)

The last few days of Aarti's pregnancy saw her taking extreme care. Shobha Ma would frequently visit her as she wanted to help Aarti in whichever way possible. She kept her morals high and also tried to be around along with Gayatri. Vidhi now started taking interest in the welfare of Armaan and even visited him alone at times. But she was quite clear that there could be nothing more between Maanav and her ---- definitely not until she had her Dad's approval.

Yash kept his diary fairly light as he had to be around when Aarti needed him and Paridhi was of course a huge help to all of them. Prateik found Paridhi to be very efficient as a doctor and felt proud of her. He knew it was a matter of a few more weeks for him to bring her home.

The day finally arrived when Aarti was admitted to the hospital. Yash was beside her and gave her the courage and faith that all would be well and they would soon be parents ---- an exciting time ahead indeed for them! Aarti too was thrilled and remained cheerful throughout.

The wait seems so long when one expects some great news and that was exactly the case on that day.

Yash waited impatiently for the arrival of his little one as the nurse walked out and told them of the great news. It was a girl and everyone right from Gayatri, SP, Shobha Ma and Dubeyji were thrilled to hear that. Yash was smiling constantly and eagerly waiting to see the baby and Aarti whenever they were allowed to do so.

The nurse walked out again and told them it was another girl --- Yes, Aarti had delivered twin girls!

It was a dual celebration time and Gayatri and all others wondered why they weren't told by Paridhi that she was carrying twins. Surely she would have known about it. No sooner they had collected themselves from this news than the doctor came out to inform them that they could see the babies. Aarti was fine too though tired.

Everyone took turns and went to see the little ones eyes closed in deep slumber --- bundled up cozily and peacefully in their respective cribs. Aarti was smiling at the joy of having become a mother ---- to beautiful girls. Gayatri and Shobha were the first to go to her and congratulate her and share their happiness. They then left her alone with Yash to cherish the moment which was priceless.

Yash went to Aarti first and held her hands as she smiled continuously.

Yash: How are you dear? Congratulations! We are now parents Aarti, of two beautiful girls. It looks like your wish was heard and so the Lord has blessed us with twins. I still remember the day when you wanted to have them isn't it?

Aarti spoke feebly: Yash, do you know something.

Yash stopped her immediately as he told her that he wanted to show her something. He first showed her a video in his mobile of the room for the child in their house. It was beautifully done up with everything in pairs. The colours of the decor however were blue and pink.

Aarti could not believe it.

She continued: I always knew I was carrying twins and asked Paridhi to keep it as a secret from you all. I wanted it to be a surprise for you and that is why I gave you a hint on that day by sharing my wish. Sorry, Yash that I hid this major news from you and thanks to Paridhi for helping me in keeping it as a secret.

Yash smiled at her as he took out a little gift for their baby.

Yash: I want to show this to you first Aarti before I even go and see the little ones.

Aarti was helped by Yash to open the gift which had a little chain for their child. As Aarti held on to the chain, she found there was one more too.

Aarti: Yash, there are two chains here, maybe the jeweler made a mistake.

Yash: No, not at all'..I got two for I knew about it all along too Aarti.

Aarti was surprised.

Aarti: But how Yash?

Yash: After that night, I had spoken to Paridhi and being a doctor she could not hide it from the father of the kids ---- right? It is against the medical ethics isn't it? So, she had to tell me about it which is only fair. But I wanted you to feel happy and so did not share with you that I was aware of it too. I did not know whether they were boys or girls so had to use blue and pink in the room for them.

Yash and Aarti then together looked at their lovely creations ---- which had completed their family and brought so much joy in their lives.

Yash let go of Aarti's hand as he went close to the infants and as he looked at them said: They are so tiny Aarti. Isn't it so amazing that a few minutes back they were in you? What a miracle!

Aarti smiled and loved to see Yash admiring their daughters. The nurse walked in and requested Yash to leave Aarti to rest for a while. Yash left the room happy, smiling and grateful at the wonderful thought of being a father!

The girls were named Palak and Payal. It was already three months and days flew by very swiftly as these bundles were very demanding on Aarti. Yash had made special arrangements for enough help for Aarti at home, however she tended to these children with utmost love and care. She was almost lost in her world of happiness that she nearly forgot about little Armaan who was now growing and needing more attention of a young three year old. Maanav found it difficult to shuffle between his job and home and he felt helpless at his situation. He could understand Aarti's own busy schedules too. He had to now think of some major decisions to be taken for the welfare of all especially his child.

One day as he sat in front of Arpita's picture, he couldn't help find his eyes fill with tears. He ran his fingers over the picture and started talking to her: Why did you have to leave us and go Arpita? Life is so tough for me and poor Armaan, he really needs someone to give the much needed maternal love all the time. I wish I hadn't comeback as he would have been fine with Aarti and Yash but now they themselves are busy with their daughters. I can live all my life alone but for Armaan I need to have someone to fill up the void of a mother. Where will I find a girl who would be willing to do that? Arpita, how I wish you were here with me.

He could feel a hand over his shoulder. It was that of Vidhi. He saw her and quickly gathered himself.

Maanav: Sorry, I did not notice that you were here.

Vidhi: It's fine Maanav. Don't think so much. Things will settle down sooner or later. I'll try to help in whichever way I can.

Vidhi now felt it was time to tell Maanav about how Yash and Aarti tried to speak to her Dad about them.

Vidhi: Maanav, you need to know that Aarti had spoken to my Dad about us.

Maanav: What? About us? What do you mean exactly?

Vidhi: Yash and Aarti wanted me to marry you. But my Dad refused. And also Maanav, though I love Armaan, let me frank I don't have any such feelings towards you ---- not because of your status but just like that. I would have gone ahead had my Dad agreed only to help out Armaan. But my Dad has refused because you're a widower and a father too. I can't see my Dad unhappy.

Maanav wasn't able to hear any more of all that happened. He was quite upset with both Yash and Aarti for having done something like this without keeping him in the picture.

He was feeling terrible. He apologized to Vidhi for all that happened and requested her to leave as he wanted to be by himself. He thought a lot before he came to the conclusion of leaving the country for good again. This time he had decided never to come back.

Maanav comes with Armaan to the Scindhia Mansion and meets Yash and Aarti. He wanted to specifically tell them about his final shift abroad. Yash and Aarti could understand about his concerns as Vidhi had shared with them earlier on. They wish him well though they felt for Armaan it would be a huge change which he might find difficult to adjust.

Prateik overheard this whole talk and came there.

Prateik: I know it is not fair of me to say anything here, but if you wish Maanav I can offer to take care of Armaan. Just as you left him with Aarti bhabhi and Yash bhaiya last time, you can do the same now too. As you know shortly Paridhi and I are going to get married so it won't be a problem for us. Palak and Payal too would have a good company and Aarti bhabhi is always here.

Maanav looked at Armaan who felt so much at home here that he did not know what to do. Should he leave his own child where he was happy and go to lead a life of repentance or should he take him with him and then start over a new life again in a new place.

He told them that he would think about it before he could come to conclusion. That night Arpita came in his dreams and spoke to him as if to help him out in this crucial time.

Arpita: Maanav, I think you must leave Armaan with Prateik, Yash and Aarti and move on with your life. He will be happy too. I know it will be a huge decision for you but in the interest of the child ---- our child please go ahead with this idea.

Aarti was busy with her little ones the next morning when Maanav came there. Yash and Prateik were not around. He spoke to Aarti about Arpita coming in his dream and his decision to leave Armaan with them. He had a request this time. He wanted them to legally adopt Armaan unlike the last time. He knew it was again a huge thing but he had decided that if Armaan had to stay with them it would be better with the legal formalities. Aarti was surprised and told him that she would get back to him after speaking to Yash.

Yash got to know of this and was glad to go ahead with it but Aarti wasn't. She very clearly told Yash that it would be difficult for her to share the same affection that she had for her own children with Armaan now. She was scared of being partial though she would never have wanted to be so. She could not take such a huge responsibility on her and not live up to it.

There was indeed a lot of confusion going on in the lives of Maanav, Yash, Aarti and most importantly Armaan!
