Just did my research. Wow. That was quite the compliment. I appreciate that, and I think you may have just lit a fire under my bum to proceed with caution and lots of over-thinking. Neither are a bad thing. It gives me pleasure to mull over my stories and characters. Thank you!

Thank you! Happy to hear that I've piqued your interest. With all the fascination I've managed to pull in for this story, I may regain that old habit of nailbiting.

This may actually be my favorite F.F. ever. If you do look into Chandler look up "Farewell My Lovely" and if you have time and just love to read Walter Mosely's "Devil in the Blue Dress" is a more modern version of noir
I only compare "Never Again" to these because it strikes me as being pared down, elemental and gritty... Not a writing style that I would have expected to find, but a gem I'm glad I stumbled across.
Thank you.

And you've just laid another delight of a compliment upon me, and comment full of all sorts of treats and delights. Thank you! In addition, you've just told a bookworm to go look up books. You have officially made my night. Whether this will really end up being your favourite F.F. or not, only time will tell. For now, I'm simply pleased that you have found it so enjoyable that you've compared it to the works of an author who was successful in his own right, albeit a tad troubled...Seems t'is the case with most of us "artist-types".

As for my writing style. I'm glad you like it. It shifts depending on the story (well, my perspective, I can't vouch as an unbiased reader), and the characters, and I do hope I do just to what is really a very dark story. I'm still balancing between whether I should have gone with first person or third, but my fingers made the decision for me, and for now it seems to be working out. Hope you enjoy the rest of the journey as well.

Oh it is a sad story. It's a tragedy really. Its a lesson in fighting, and not being overcome by the circumstances as well...So let's see how things turn out.

Whether Aarti is alive or not, only time will say. For now, we've given up the present and will journey from the past to that moment on the building.😈
Good to know you enjoyed the conversation. I didn't mean for it to turn out so long, but had that been an actual conversation, it would have sounded pretty short (so she says to make up for it)😆

Thank you for stopping in😊

Kadeem (if I may call you by name),
I managed bookstores while I was in college so I love books and a well-turned phrase. To say what I read and have read is eclectic is an understatement. A single beautiful sentence can make a chapter, and a lovely paragraph can make a book.
I started reading "Rescued" and enjoyed what I was reading, but somehow I find the fact that Yash is being introspective, on the roof of a building and apparently suffering some form of burn out much more satisfying than a depressed, deserted and suicidal Aarti.
And as an artist I understand subject shaping style ( paper tells me what to do all the time).

Lol; It's Kadeen. It's a common mix up. I completely understand what you're saying there. I have read so many different voices, genres, things and styles that I really couldn't come right out and say that I have a specific favourite author. In some ways it started as me living vicariously through these fictional beings, and then morphed into a ravenous appetite to submerge myself into a beautiful tale. Eventually, I found the desire to really start trying something of my own. I had started two projects in my younger years, but I never really took them seriously until I started Irrevocable Bonds and Rescued.

I do get where you're coming from with Yash and Aarti of these two stories. They both have completely different mindsets, and that is what has made all the difference. Personally speaking, me and the concept of suicide involves logical back and forth. To what end. What difference will it make. Who will benefit. Who will lose. Etc, etc. Both this Yash, and Res's Aarti have lost a lot in life. If I were to start discussing Aarti of Res though, I'd probably end up summarising the entire story and defeat the purpose of writing it.😆 I will say this, in Res...Aarti had alot of time to think before that last straw which broke the camel's back, but sometimes there comes a stage when thinking ceases and only emotion remains, and that day was probably Aarti's time for it. When both stories are told, you'll be able to see for yourself who really started the process of healing, and how it will impact their lives in the long run. With Yash, we've only caught him a few moments after the big blow, and he was already standing on the edge of the building.😳 (Between us, it took Aarti of Res a whole day to get there.) Gosh, you're making me prattle the details of the story. Let's just end it at they are both suicidal, for different reasons with different emotions pushing them and different end results. Both were deserted, but none of them by the choice of the people they love/d.

And I had almost forgotten about your chosen trade. You'd probably have alot more to talk with my girl bestie than I on the matter of paper and pencil bringing life. I've tried my hand at sketching, and while I'm capable of reproducing, I'm not much on the "inspired" front. Excluding two occasions. This got long.😲
