"Meant To Be". Chapter - 2
THIS STORY IS NOT BASED ON MY LIFE STORY. THE PART ABOUT HOW YASH AND AARTI MET, ONLY THAT PART IS BASED ON MY REAL LIFE STORY. THE REST OF THE STORY WILL BE HEART BREAKING AND EMOTIONAL.

Yash and Aarti at the wedding.

Aarti ran away from the terrace leaving Yash standing there like a statue, still looking in the direction in which Aarti left.
" Uff oh Bhaiya you can now come out of the statue form, she is gone" Mansi teased him, thus bringing him back to reality.
Yash blushed a little and pulled his sisters ear tightly, till she screamed of pain.
Manu was not letting him go so easily" wait here Bhaiya, I'll go and tell Maa right away about your restless condition."
Yash stopped her from going" Manu don't you remember what Ma told you the other day? That no one has to know about this till after Ravi's wedding. If Amma finds out about it, Ma will be in trouble. So let Ma and Bauji handle this in their own way. If they give us chance to meet, I'd definitely like to meet Aarti and talk to her for a while, but only if she is also interested."
" Manu you've been with her since last two days, how is she?" He wanted to find out more about Aarti." I mean what's her nature like?"
"Bhaiya she is not at all like you", Manu ignored Yash's glare and conitnued," she is very friendly and somewhat a little naughty, just like me" she winked at him.
He knew that Aarti was naughty, as he had seen the glimpse of that naughtiness in her eyes in that photo and later a little while ago while playing with the kids.
" Yash I want you to meet someone" Gayatri's voice made them both turn around. Gayatri was standing there with Shobhaji and Aarti.
A small smile came on Yash's face as he went towards them. " Yash this is Mrs. Shobha Dudey and this is her daughter Aarti". Gayatri introduced them.Yash bent down to touch Shobha's feet, who blessed him. And he said " Hello" to Aarti, to which she nodded shyly.
Gayatri continued " Yash and Aarti you both know very well why we've introduced you two. We want you to know each other a better before taking any decision, as this is the question of your whole life. You've got two days to know each other."
She then turned to Shobhaji and Aarti " Shobhaji I want you to promise me that you won't force Aarti for this relation and Aarti I want you also to promise me that you'll say 'YES' only if you are ready and sure about it. If you've got even a slightest of doubt in your mind you can say ' NO', I promise you no one will question you. Can you promise me that?"
Aarti nodded a yes and looked at Yash questioningly, to which he said" Ma I also promise you that we won't make a haste decision"
Gayatri smiled hearing this and she blessed them both" ok you two can talk here alone for a while. The functions have begun so no one will come to disturb you. But don't stay here for too long, we don't want Ammaji to suspect anything." With that Gayatri, Shobhaji and Maansi left them alone.
They stood there in silence for a while, till Yash sensed Aarti's hesitation to start the conversation, so he himself started it by telling her a little bit about himself. Aarti soon relaxed and started talking with him. Within minutes they both became so comfortable with each other that they forgot that this was their first meeting. They were enjoying each others company, when suddenly Maansi came to tell them that Maa was calling them.
The wedding functions started with full swing, one after the other. Aarti wore different colored outfit for different functions. For Henna ceremony she wore henna colored Anarkali suit. For the dance (sangeet) function she wore MULTI colored suit. For the Haldi ceremony light Yellow colored one. Each outfit left Yash mesmerized by her beauty. For the next two days they got plenty of chances to talk with each other, sometimes alone and sometimes in front of others. They were enjoying each others company.
Yash had to leave for home, immediately after the wedding as he had to leave for New York in two days, for two months. But before going he wanted to meet Aarti one last time. But with so much chaos at the wedding the chances of that happening were looking pretty dim.
As the wedding rituals were proceeding, he was looking for her. He had seen her just once, she was wearing a Red Saree, with her Hair down. She was looking Breathtakingly Beautiful. But after that Aarti was nowhere to be seen.
Maansi saw his restlessness and came and told him that Aarti had gone to Rajiv Mama's home, as she was helping Rekha Mami for the preparations to welcome the bride and groom.
This was the chance that he was waiting for. He left for Rajiv Mama's house. Only few people were at there, as everyone were at the wedding hall. He heard Rekha Mami telling Aarti to bring something from the terrace. This was his chance to talk with her. He ran towards the terrace, before Aarti could reach there. When he saw that the terrace was deserted, he heaved a sigh of relief.
Just then he heard Aarti coming there. She had tied her hair in a clip. And tugged her saree pallu on one side of her waist. She was looking very pretty. Aarti was startled to see him there, as she knew that only few people were at home. She slowly went to pick a few extra pillows, which Rekha had asked her to bring. To Yash's luck he was standing right beside those pillows.
As Aarti was about to pick the pillows, Yash grabbed her hand. Aarti stood still for a few minutes and then slowly turned towards him.
" Aarti I won't lie to you, ever since I saw your photo I was attracted towards you. But after spending these last two days here with you, I'VE FALLEN MADLY AND DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH YOU" , Yash finally confessed his feelings to Aarti. Which left her staring at him in surprise.
" I won't force you but I want to know how you feel about me, Aarti? Do you also like me?"
Aarti didn't knew how to answer him, so she just nodded a yes. At that moment Yash felt like the luckiest and happiest man in the whole world.
" If you don't mind can I hug you?" Yash asked shamelessly, which surprised them both. Aarti just looked at him with her big brown eyes. They both didn't knew who took the first step, or how did it happened,but in the next moment, they were in each others arms. It felt like heaven. Yash with one hand unclipped her hair which made her hair fall on her face and shoulders. He caressingly tugged it behind her ear, and slowly bent his head to kiss her.
Yash gave Aarti a chance to retreat back if she was not ready for it, but she didn't. So he finally kissed her on her lips. It was like a magical moment, for him. He didn't wanted it to end, but he himself broke the kiss and took her in his arms once again.
" Aarti I have to leave first thing in the morning, and day after tomorrow I've to leave for New York. I'll be gone before Maa and Bauji returns home. But I promise you I'll talk with Maa the first chance that I get." Aarti was just listening to him, without saying anything.
He continued" Is it ok with you if I call you from there? We can even write to each other via e-mails or in the old fashioned way of letter writing?"
That brought a smile on Aarti's lips, " Yashji you can tell your parents whenever you get time. But is it ok with you if we don't call or write to each other in the next two months?"
She continued when Yash looked at her surprised," I want to see how we really,feel about each other in that time. Is it really love or just an attraction? I want us to write down our feelings in letters, and when we meet that time we will give it to each other. That'll be a true test for us. And that way we'll be able to know how we really feel for each other".
Yash was shocked to hear this at first, but then he felt that Aarti was right. This test will prove if they are really Meant To Be with each other, for the rest of their lives. So finally he promised Aarti that he will do as per her wish. He was about to kiss her again when they heard a noise. They both immediately moved away from each other. But it turned out that something had fallen down because of the light wind. They smiled at each other and went inside.
Next day Yash left for home and a day after that he left for New York. As his parents had not yet returned from the wedding, he didn't got the chance to talk with Gayatri. The next few weeks became very hectic for him. He hardly got time to call home. And even if and when he called home, Maa was never around, which surprised him.
He wanted to call Aarti so many times but as he had made that promise, he couldn't. He hated himself for making that promise. But Yash made it sure to write down his each and every thoughts and feelings in a book. He felt like a teenage girl who was head over heels in love.
Few weeks later one day Bauji called to inform him that his younger brothers marriage has been fixed and the marriage will take place within a week. It was a sudden and last moment decision. So they don't have much time for the wedding preparations. So everyone will be very busy for the next few days and might not be able to talk with him.
This news didn't surprised him much, as he knew that his younger brother was very impulsive and always made hasty decisions in life. Which turned out to be wrong and disastrous so many times. Yash just wished that his brothers decision was the right one this time.
Yash was supposed to return one week after the wedding, but he didn't wanted to miss it. So he tried his best to wind up the work here. He was finally able to get a ticket on time to reach and attend the wedding. But due to flight delays and a lay over in Europe, he missed the wedding.
And now he was waiting in SM, for everyone to return home. But most of all he was waiting to see Aarti. He had missed her so much in these two months.
Suddenly he heard a lot of commotion in the living room. He smiled as he knew that everyone must have returned from the wedding.
He took his coffee cup and went outside his room. His room was on the second level of SM, which overlooked the living room downstairs. He went and stood outside his room by the railings of the corridor. His eyes were searching for Aarti.
He heard his Gayatri Maa's voice " Aarti beta please come here". Aarti stepped inside along with others
It was as if Aarti also felt his presence there, cause no sooner she stepped inside, she looked up and their eyes finally met.
And there she was. His beautiful Aarti. Standing there looking at him. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. She was looking so beautiful, almost angelic. She was looking exactly the way he pictured her to look on her...
Suddenly Yash dropped the coffee cup from his hand, as the image of Aarti standing in front of him, sunk in...

Ok everyone I am ready for all the chappals and GAALI's from all of you for getting Aarti and Prashant married to each other.
But that's the story of how Yash will now feel betrayed by Aarti and his brother Prashant. The next few chapters will be based on Yash's reaction, his POVs and self thoughts. You'll get very less lines and self thoughts of Aarti.
I wanted to write so much on AarYa's meetings, but as it is this chapter has become very long and I didn't wanted to bore you anymore. Maybe I'll use those scenes in the flashbacks.
