A patchwork take from me today since I ended up discussing most of the major points in smaller posts after the episode.
I think Radha loves Akash too, but it has become complicated because she loves Akash in order to justify what she apparently did to SP and Gayatri, ie, steal their baby and replace it with hers. Essentially I think she was nazar utaarofying for both her "sons" because the DNA test results could be good or bad for both of them. If SP just accepted Akash as his illegitimate kid, and gave him a share in the property then no problem, but if anyone dug any deeper, which Aarti already has, they would be in a position to question further and her secret, that she has been trying to hide would be out. Yash would be outed as not the biological son of SP and Gayatri and she would lose Akash after he found out what she did to him. So she is scared but not panicking because things could go either way...
The complexity lies in the fact that loving Akash is sort of a "duty" for her in return for stealing him from his parents. It shows that she is not an out and out "bad" person, but that she wanted her son to have all the comforts and took this drastic step. I think her one statement, where she says that if her secret were to come out, all her "mehnat" would go to waste, says it all. Raising Akash was "mehnat" to her, which she did willingly in return for knowing that her son was living a comfortable and luxurious life as a Scindia son. What she did not account for is Akash being so restless in his life with her that he would demand his father and his identity. Now she stands to lose both her "sons."
I love the way they are easing SP back into acceptance of Yash and Aarti. His ego still rides supreme and he is not willing to come out and admit that all his hunky dory and forgiven after he made such a big mess, supporting Prashant in the custody battle etc. It's lucky for him that the rest of his family is willing to read his language and work around him. SP's character has always been one of the most interesting and complex and I am so glad they decided to choose a storyline that would bring the focus to all those fascinating layers. Also, given that CP is such a good actor, it is always a treat to watch the conflicts and shades of the character!
The kids were my favourite part, and I have to say, I don't want the "ji" to go away anymore. It has become so much a part of their relationship's identity that it would seem out of place for it to go now. More than formality, it has become their special way of addressing each other, as shown by how it marks the way the kids seem them too now. I like the new spin on equality they have in this relationship... reminds me of Karva Chauth where instead of doing away with patriarchal rituals, they just made Yash do everything to Aarti, like touching her feet, that she did to him. It makes them unique. Even though on paper, Yashji and Aartiji are terms of formality, I can say with some confidence that nobody says their names this way quite like their other partner... it becomes their special thing. There is something extremely sexy about the paradox of Yash saying Aartiji, a term of formality and respect, in a husky, voice with all kinds of galat iraadas on his mind. It reinforces that no matter how many different layers and directions were added to their relationship, its foundation was, and continues to be a deep mutual respect. What a wonderful thing for their children to see, and imitate, as they grow up!
Aarti's panic was beautifully done by Kratika today. It is no wonder poor Aarti is so fraught with tension. Every time she has come close to happiness, something huge has happened to take that away and plunge her into despair. She had just started to trust Yash after the kidnapping when the Scindias threw her out, she had just started getting Palak's affection when the whole Arpita-vesh thing blew up in her face, she created a beautiful friendship with Yash only to have him blow up at her post Mumbai, Prashant came back with cancer, needing the BMT just when Yash had accepted her as his wife, her divorce truth came out just as she was about to hear him confess his love, Prashant kidnapped Ansh just as they won the custody battle and Dubey re-kidnapped him just when they thought they had found him. The closer she gets to happiness, the more it seems at risk. Now finally the Scindias have accepted her back so is it any wonder that she almost expecting the next big calamity in her life?
My heart went out to Aarti and I too loved that little moment when it dawned on Yash that this fear was so much bigger than the immediate danger of someone in their room; it was about Aarti's inherent fear of the cycle of loss that has defined her life so far. But as some people were discussing, this makes me even more worried for the baby... simply because it should be first and foremost on Aarti's mind and happens to be the one thing she is not really thinking about in all her blind fear of losing her family. In striving to maintain those relationships that she worked hard for, is she maybe taking for granted the one that she got without asking?
