I think PV team degreded SP character to very much low level and its just to add spice n create more drama in the track.

Since start of the show we have seen SP as very much straight forward person who is living on his own pride and principles. He is bit strict but always given preference to his kids and family bonding. He was honest and big hearted person who sometimes goes beyond his own principles just to keep his family happy n together.

BUT now they shown this character stoop down to so low that he is ready to play with life n emotions of little kid and also of his mother and father (Aarti-Yash). Just to sideline Aarti and getting back Yash in family for sake of Yash Mother Gayatri and in that case he has forgotten that he is hurting another mother, father and kid.

This is not at accepted from SP and CVs.

One of the things that I like about this show is that their characters are not unidimensional. They are multidimensional with various layers to their emotions. No one is outrightly evil nor is anyone the epitome of perfection. Every character has various shades of goodness and bad in them and this is why in this show anyone can turn 'bad' on the moral compass depending on the situation.

Take a look at all the characters important personality traits:

Yash: He is honest, upright, sensitive individual but someone who had lots of negativity harbored in him.

Aarti: So many positives like her never die attitude but also tons of negatives: her impulsiveness, her sense of obligation, her need for approval that have got her into trouble number of times.

Gayatri: Can be selfish or lovable depending on the situation

Bua: Mean spirited but there is no doubt about her love for the children or Yash.

Dubeys: Very principled yet couldn't hold onto their principles when faced with the prospect of their son dying and perpetrators of the lie in the first place.

Prashant: Capable of goodness as we saw in Lalitpur but morally weak with possible psychological issues and a coward.

Vidhi: Selfless, helpful, lovable but lacks the power to introspect and hence cannot offer support to loved ones when they need it the most.

Prateik and Panku, Lovable brothers and sons but totally spineless.

Suraj Pratap: Very principled but also egoistical. Cannot tolerate people crossing him. Punished Aarti once before for going against him during Ansh kidnapping scenario. Large hearted when things go his way but unmovable when his authority is questioned or threatened as we are seeing today.

So to respond to your post, I personally would have a hard time forgiving SP for what he has put Aarti and Yash and the little kids through in the name of punishment but I don't think his character has been assassinated. When Pari was being sent to the jail, then too his first instinct was to punish her without regards to what Prateik wants and it was only Yash and Aarti that saved Pari's pretty bottom. So I think, SP's behavior is very much in character but it is a little more extreme than in the past.

In fact this is the strength of this show and the writers, the characters are so well developed and consistent with their positives and their negatives that if you look back you will see them displaying similar pattern of behavior throughout the show. But to see that, the audience need to look back and reflect on the story and the characters and I am not sure how many does that.

Absolutely the show has to run somehow with some spice and without negativity it's not going to hold any audience - always in these dramas there is a negative character and we have Papa Scindhya here - a well developed character but if it was real I would never be able to trust somebody like that split personality everything is hunky dory when things are going your way and jackyl and hyde when you can't have your own way! Bully to be exact - but I am sure maybe CV's are trying to give a message here as well to be seen in upcoming episodes that this is wrong and it needs to be addressed and sorted for future generation - we may get older with set opinions and ways and overlook the thinking pattern of new generation that's when new beginnings start and it's time for everyone to move on and to accept how the new generation want to do things - give them respect and independence to do their own thing ofcourse for all the right reasons - and at the same time maintain the joint family together in peace and harmony - support and understanding is the key here and not keeping grudges and condemnation.

very well written...i agree with 100% angake...papa s never involves hisself directly in anything...many of the rich family father are like this...they will go any extend to prove they right all the time because they dont want society pin point on them...they give more priority to society than own happiness..when buaji can be like that, y papa s cannt be? akhir, they same blood na...

SP has always been extremely egotistical and arrogant. I'm sure most of PVians remember the first glimpse of SPs egotistical behavior when he was hell bent on forcing Aarti to change her name to Arpita.

People like SP never change in real life. They pretend to be nice as long as no one else questions them and they feel secure.

they didn't degrade his character but he has always been like this
He was always shown as a man filled with pride and never accepted anyone going against him
He always had this ego the size of a mountain but as no one have ever hurt it before, it always remained inside
but as Aarti and Yash have hurt his ego, his pride is suffering and thus he is going to all extents to ensure his pride prevails.
that's why people say we always have to remain humble as too much pride screws with our brains and this is what is happening to sp.
