Before you read on, please note that this OS steers away from the current happy track. It is placed in the context of Aarti having give up/lost the baby. I know, how depressing... I'm sorry. I'll try and come up with something happier next time. I'm used to sad ramblings, sorry! Also, this thought came to me late at night when I should have been sleeping (had to work early the next day), so please forgive the many mistakes and let me know how it went. Thanks a lot for your time and consideration.

"Surviving the Storm"

ArYa OS by desi chic @ india-forums.com

It started with a single, inaudible crack. But as reality seeped through the pores of her existence, she was forced to reconcile with the first crevices in the earth that held her together. Her blank gaze was pulled by the vacancy that his closed lids hid. She suddenly felt overflowed with something, yet completely empty at the same time.

The crack had begun to spread, and as it extended it's territory, the grains of time crystallized. With dumb ears and mute lips, she tried to shut out the agony knocking at her doorstep. Try as she might, however, she knew her defence would not last. Pushed far enough, her fortress would crumble meekly, with no trace of resistance.

Her focus had blurred rapidly in the past few seconds, and the world was turning into a haze. Burning amidst this unlit inferno, she lifted her attention to the only hope that had attached itself to her darkened heart. It had rained there today... making the blood red turn a shade deeper. His gaze was a beacon, ever brightening... no matter the state of the night. Currently, his rigid form sat stiffly against the tender white of their bed. The pillows housing their dreams lay scattered about absentmindedly around him. They were a rude reminder of the hole that had been punched into their planned future.

She turned her eyes away from the sad recollection, and took in his open arms. They beckoned her, and it quickly dawned don her how desperately she was in need of their comfort and protection. An unpleasant sound had begun to trickle through her muteness, and she wasn't sure how long she could fend it off. Again, she was taken by the arms encased in pristine white, offering their console in exchange for sorrow. With much effort, she coaxed her feet forth to close the distance that lay between them. For the briefest second, a torch of hope ignited inside her raging earth.

But it was almost immediately overshadowed by the need to crumble. She suddenly wanted to collapse, fall apart, and let the whole surrender to parts. And even in the fog, she knew that her desire would only be safe in those angelic arms that continued in their patient waiting. Stumbling over the skeletons of dreams, she finally dropped onto his lap, succumbing to the inferno.

The shaking began, racking her whole body in a purge of fruitless dreams. In some distant way, she felt the embrace of those arms as they hoarded the shards of her being. Nothing slipped by, not even a single drop of the dried out eyes.

By the end of it, she opened her tear-stained eyes to a picture perfect calm. It breathed quietly, but sincerely through the night-invaded space. Amazement dazzled her as she took in her surroundings. She still sat on his lap, royal and protected. His warm eyes spoke of a care-induced lack of sleep. Grogginess peered through the corners of his sleepless nigahein. A pang of guilt swam to the surface of her emotions. She had made it through the storm. And it would have been impossible without the fee paid by the generous heart that beat through his chest, vibrating against hers. The pillows remained untouched. Giving in to the powerful urge to yield to the affection radiating from him, she bid farewell to those cushions and all that they housed. Bringing her lips to his forehead, she defied the lines of worry etched there.

A rush of purifying mohabbat crowded away the clutter of their jazbat. She was thankful of the unspoken forgiveness, and healed of her guilt as he brought his head to her neck. The lack of moisture told her that she was not alone in the ordeal... and nor was she the lone survivor... because survival was unfathomable in his absence. The tighter grip around her waist reassured her thoughts.

Cheers,
