I wanted to make this post as soon as I saw the way forum erupted on the Mid Day article, but decided to wait till the episode airs. First of all I dont know why people got so judgemental over a single article(which wasn't even from a very reliable source). Is this what we have understood of Mittals and Gurmeet-Kratika in 150 episodes? One baseless article, and we are questioning the credibility of actors and makers! Really? So there was no Lip lock( I for one never thought that there would be any). But it was really sad to see 7 months of hard work of makers and actors being doubted and questioned over one baseless article.
And then the accusations left me even more amazed. It is a trp gimmick. Seriously!? The suspense for this track has been building for more than 4 weeks. We knew something HUGE had happened for Yash to react like a man who is not in his senses. We knew it would be one of the biggest turning point of the show. Yet we are behaving as if whole track was made out of thin air within 2 episodes! Mittals have always maintained that the tell the story according to their vision, rather than according to numbers. And we have got ample proof of that. Even in this track viewers were pulling their hair out from day 1 to know the reason of Yash's anger, but makers took their own sweet time to unravel the plot. And that's the reason PV has been one of the most consistent shows TRP wise, from the start and we had ended last week with a very good 2.9. So I dont think Mittals needed to resort to any gimmick.
Then there is the point of "spoiling the essence" of the show and characters by showing consummation before confession. Now I am not very fond of so called CONs in TV shows. They seem rather awkward to me. But I know they are part of every show and would occur sooner or later. And yes Aarti and Yash did it.So does that make them a low character,or does it make them lusty? Sorry but I dont them find characterless for the great sin of culminating their marriage. They are legally wedded husband and wife, last time I checked! Yes AarYa were shown to be very principled and moraled. But does consummating their marriage make them unprincipled and immoral? They both were attracted to each other, were not in their senses, and succumbed to a moment of weakness. Is that so grave a crime that there can be no atonement for them? Yes they should have been infallible and perfect all the time, but they are also humans. And human beings make mistake, they have their moments of weakness, they have error of judgements. No one is perfect and no one is infallible. And its not like they are not repenting. Yash has been putting himself and Aarti to worst agonies for his "mistake". Guy was on the verge of breakdown, and punishing himself and Aarti,in cruelest manner possible for cheating on his "dead" wife. And its not over yet. He is getting himself beaten over by a boxer for his supposed infidelity to Arpita. What more can he do to repent? He is on the path of self destruction already. Should he slit his wrist and join his wife in heaven for atoning his sin? And Aarti, she is suffering for absolutely no fault of hers.Yet we say these characters have lost their essence.
I am sorry for the long rant but I was really disturbed at the way this sequence was sensationalized, not by the makers, but by us. Makers had a story and they are sticking to it. This whole sequence was very much a part of the plan from the starting of Mumbai track itself, and we had enough clues that something huge would come out of it .They intended to show something humane and realistic, but we have manged to turn it into something cheap and sleazy. To the credit of team whole sequence was done very aesthetically and beautifully, and there was nothing shown that would cause even a tiny bit of embarrasment. But we delivered the judgement even before the episode aired. Sad.
And I would applaud the Mittals for they played out the whole issue with complete dignity. And the conversation between Shobha and Aarti is a must watch. Just shows that Mittals have always been 4 steps ahead when it comes to broad mindedness, progressive thinking, and maintaining the essence of the show and characters.
Thank you for reading the long rant.
