You update so quickly that every time I think, "Okay, I'm going to go back and comment in detail on the previous parts" there's a new part waiting to be read!
Everyone else versus Aarti: I wouldn't have put it past everyone else to take things at face value and assume that Yash had always had a soft spot for Aarti in a romantic sense; it's another matter that he does care for her...in what capacity I will not venture to guess at this point! That is the essence of the story, so I'll just shut up now!
If Yash had made up his mind to stay a single father after Arpita's death...was it only the mention of Aarti that brought him to take a step towards giving Payal a mother's warmth and affection through agreeing to remarry? This is such an engaging story - I'm just going to let things unfold and all of my questions here are therefore purely me just thinking out loud...
There had been no reason to feel that sliver of burn in her chest as her finger traced over the glossy sheen of her picture being held by him from behind.
And yet...she did feel the burning sensation...Even if it was ever so slight...She did feel it...
If anything, it was the only real thing that belonged to her in that place, despite having married the man who owned everything else there.
The palki is like her own little haven, which is kind of ironic, considering that it was what brought her to this place at a time when she probably wanted to do nothing of the sort. Aarti's bitterness at being regarded as a mere replacement of Arpita in the household makes me feel as though somehow Aarti is starting to see herself as a part of her new home already, even though she consciously doesn't want to root herself to the people there. She has no choice but to stay until other arrangements are made, and that is going to make things difficult, given that Payal's routines are now a part of Aarti's days as well. What a sweet start to a bond that creeped up on both of them so naturally!
Payal calls Aarti "Rithi aunty" and no one minds? Is Aarti going to remain "Rithi aunty" forever, while being expected to fill in as a wife for Yash and a mother/stepmother for Payal?
