GRP Ratings for Week #38 - Zee (barely) holds on to 2nd place

Zee TV - 235 (240)
Colors - 233 (230)
Sony - 232 (230)
Life OK - 124 (167)
SAB TV - 131 (137)

Zee, Sony and Colors are within 2-3 points of each other (I have honestly never seen the race this close amongst the top 4 channels), but Zee is still holding on to that 2nd place! Zee didn't lose that many points thanks to it's strong weekend lineup because most of the dailies except for SSLK & AB went down this week!

@Sammy, wohoo. You seem to have done a study on Ekta's shows. 😆 Well I hope what you said in your last para comes true. This show deserves so much more than what it gets. I wonder how much JDJ played a role too. We have a ME as soon as JDJ got over which make some think that maybe we would have had one and a quicker resolution of the Mumbai track had it not been for JDJ. Anyways hoping for the best. I love this show to bits and I hope it gets what it deserves.

Well the tension/witty banter phase can get really addictive because there is no doubt that she does that part really well! I watched that phase of like 3-4 shows before I realised that the same pattern was repeating itself over and over again, and they all kind of went downhill once the couple had their CONfessions and CONsummations! 😆

@All: A lot of things have gone the last few weeks. Instead of promoting the actual storyline the channel was promoting the cameos of RK and KK which no was interested to see, and then there was the issue of the show starting late on a handful of days which never works in anyone's favor!

But that's all behind us, we got a fresh start this week, all the promotions are done and dealt with and GC is back to give his full attention to PV after 4 months which is crucial because Yash's presence 24/7 is going to be absolutely vital for this upcoming track, and I think the CVs were waiting for JDJ to finish before tackling something like that so that GC can be fully invested!

I have a feeling that Zee was just as desperate for JDJ to end as we were, because the shooting of it ended on Tuesday and we are getting a ME on Friday! We had yet to get a proper ME for PV and it obviously couldn't happen while JDJ was going on, so the second it all ended they jumped on the opportunity to finally give us our 1 hour episode! So kudos to Zee for that 😆👍🏼

Yup, not in the Top 10 this week! A lot of shows dropped across the channel but 2.5 is too much of a stretch to make it to the Top 10! Fingers crossed for a comeback next week though 😊

@Samana: That was such a perfect summation of the Ekta way 😆 I have seen a handful of Ekta shows and I totally cracked up while reading your "description" of them because she really does follow the same process for all her shows! She only has enough storyline to sustain a show for about 6 months after which the TRPs start following drastically (I am sure most of us remember that PV was eating it's time slot competition for dinner for almost a month before BALH went and took the leap), then she says those two magical words time leap and wa la problem solved! Like Karanvir Bohra said time leaps show a death of creativity because it shows that there is nothing left to tell in a story the way it is, and when you reach that point just 6 months after launch it really doesn't say much about the brains and emotions that go behind the script of the show!

As for PV, the Mittals have proven time and time again that they will go by their script no matter what the numbers say, and 99.9% of the time that works in their favor! So at least here we can be left satisfied that the quality of the show will not be compromised or succumbed to gimmicks no matter what happens! The whole idea of changing the script on a weekly basis based on a preference of the audience is not something the Mittals have ever entertained and for that I am grateful!
