That's what I meant when i said grief affects us in different ways. Grief can make us do strange things. Can make us behave totally out of character. There is no "normal" way to grieve. And in fact, this "anomalous" behavior perhaps makes a lot of sense after all...Yash is so restrained in his normal life...It makes sense to me that a man who exercises so much control over himself and his surroundings should lose it in such a situation...

In fact, I would rather there not be some "explanation"...like guilt...that would make it too easy

Yash was not always restrained...on the other hand he seemed very outgoing, vibrant and romantic with Arpita. It was her demise that changed him into reticent brooding type.

I have to say that more they reveal Yash's room, or more specifically the pictures on the walls, the more creeped out I get. The guy has almost every inch of the walls covered with Arpita's face, and that is not healthy, it's downright obsessive! And if she hasn't already, it won't be long before Aarti starts feeling completely suffocated in that room, what with Arpita looking down at her from every angle, it would be enough to mess with the sanest of minds. And it's no wonder that Yash is so deep in that Arpita labyrinth, she is literally surrounding him from every corner, and this is going to make it very difficult for him to snap out of that trance.

But there has to be a reason behind this gaudy and over display, especially in highlighting the changes in Yash's character with time. I don't think the pictures are all going to come down in one day, but rather it's going to be a gradual process that comes with Yash's realization that he doesn't need such an overwhelming amount of them all around. And I think a lot of it is going to be reflective of how his "relationship" with Arpita is going to change as time goes on. Right now he feels like he needs to have her all around him so that she can maintain a very visual presence in his life and there is no chance of him ever forgetting her, which I think is one of his biggest fears. But once his relationship with Aarti starts progressing and he starts finding his own self apart from Arpita, the sheer quantity and size of the pictures will become overwhelming for him as well, and that's when we might see some of those humongous portraits coming off, maybe to even be replaced by some normal sized ones of his new family.

The more his present start overtaking his life, he is going to have to find tangible space for it and that will only happen when he starts putting his past where it belongs, in the past, and starts embracing life as it comes. The day he wakes up from his Arpita-induced sleep, his whole perspective on life will change, and we've already started seeing the initial signs of that! In just one day the pictures have already become a part of his peripheral when he is around Aarti and Ansh because they end up taking all his attention! But the one thing I feel certain about is that neither Aarti nor Yash will be able to pursue a relationship TOGETHER until the pictures come off the all. The feeling of having a third person constantly watching over them is an extremely disconcerting idea, and will become a huge hindrance for them to move forward with each other, because every time Yash's glance will land on the photos, the feeling of guilt will bubble up to the surface and he'll never be able to evade it. As for Aarti, she will once again have the constant feeling of being second best, something that is just going to build her inferiority complex! So the pictures definitely have to come down, and I think there was a major reason behind the CVs putting so many of them on every inch of the wall, it's all going to come together to manifest the great change Yash will be undergoing, courtesy of Aarti's presence in his life!

He perhaps hung them up soon after the loss when he hit the rock bottom of misery and then never brought them down out of guilt.
