@Indu and Borna: Naturally, after I made that last post I ran off to read that scene of King Lear. God bless Googleji! Anyway I was reading it and realised it applies perfectly to ArYa actually, so I am sharing it with you.
For those who don't know King Lear, Cordelia's (the heroine) dad disowns her because, unlike her sisters, she refuses to make a big, showy statement about how much she loves him in front of the court. Then he asks her two suitors if they will still marry her now that she is penniless and the Duke of Burgundy says no, he ain't interested in Cordelia sans dowry but the King of France says:
Fairest Cordelia, that art most rich, being poor;
Most choice, forsaken; and most lov'd, despis'd!
Thee and thy virtues here I seize upon.
Be it lawful I take up what's cast away.
Gods, gods! 'tis strange that from their cold'st neglect
My love should kindle to inflam'd respect.
Thy dow'rless daughter, King, thrown to my chance,
Is queen of us, of ours, and our fair France.
Not all the dukes in wat'rish Burgundy
Can buy this unpriz'd precious maid of me.
Bid them farewell, Cordelia, though unkind.
Thou losest here, a better where to find.
😍
How dreamy is that? And I can totally imagine Yash saying this to Aarti a few months in. 😳
