I would be okay with Aarthi changing her name if Mrs.Scindia was also named Aarthi... Imagine Sasurji calling Saasuma..and you respond to attend him and realize he meant Saasuma...Then it would justify name change coz that would be a good reason ..but giving a dead wife's/daughter's name coz u want her memories kept alive. 😕
Mansi I absolutely loveddd lovedd loveddd this part of yours ..WONDERFULLY WRITTEN and helps me to think about the whole name change thing from a complete different perspective 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Originally posted by: skanda12
7. Yash wants to keep Arpita's memories to himself and not let his parents play with that memory! Now here's a paradox. All through the episode Yash has done nothing but yearn for the parents of his ex-wife and rekindle the memories of his life with Arpita in the past ... he seems haunted by Arpita, the sound of her kangans, her parents ... but he sees the actions of his family to make Aarti into Arpita as intruding on his precious memories of the past. He does not realise that just like he has his own past-fixation, his parents too were only acting out their past fixation in their own way through their behaviour towards Aarti! To different degrees Yash and his parents do not seem to know how far to carry this "memory of Arpita". Yash wants his memories to be exclusive and precious and kept to himself, while his parents want the memories to wash all over their lives and even Aarti's.At the end of this episode I have just one big question in my mind: Are the Scindia's collectively "guilty" of this Punar Vivah? Are they especially "guilty" in the presence of Arpita's parents that they want to show at every step that it is not a punar vivah of Yash with another woman, but a punar-vivah of Yash with Arpita's ghost? And as for Yash, today for the first time I saw Yash in a strange new light. I wonder: does he even know what exactly he wants and doesn't want? He seems to want Arpita's memories to remain intact in his life, through her name, her kangans and her parents ... but he does not want these memories becoming a family free-for-all.

@Mansi: I loved your entire take and the theme you strung through it! But I especially loved the questions that you raised at the end. This overwhelming question of guilt. It looks like the Dubeys are not the only ones burdened by its shadow in this PV. But while we know the Dubey's secret and it is relatively harmless, because all said and done, Aarti will be the same person on the other side of the revelation, the same cannot the said of the Scindias. The more I see of them the darker I feel their secrets are, hence the disturbingly calm exterior. They do say that still waters run deep.
I had a theory long back that Arpita committed suicide and I do feel like it could fit into the unease we are seeing today where the Scindias (G and SP) are unwilling to acknowledge that the past has passed. They are trying to resurrect it for Arpita's parents and this does speak strongly of guilt. I was also a bit curious in this regard about Yash's OCD. It could be nothing, but they are showing these flashbacks for a reason and it looks like while Yash was very loving, he was also a very demanding husband. And we all know how the rest of the clan is!
@Jyo: Awesome, awesome! I especially loved your take on Garima. She is easily manipulated and Gayatri could be using this as a tool to make both Aarti and Yash majboor in this situation.
@PC: I know, I know. 😆 But I tend to suspend disbelief and logic when I watch these shows so I get really emotional and carried away with the drama and the characters. But I like it. 😛

Is it not elementary decency that when your daughter is dead and her husband is remarrying another woman, to allow space for this new woman to have her own reasonable life with this man? Even if Gayatri did her brainwashing, how long would it take Arpita's mother to say "No it would not be decent for me to take Shobha's place. It is her big day in her life and her daughter's life as it was for e when my daughter got married. I cannot let my daughter's memories intrude and spoil another girl's life" etc? If she had done that how much more respect society would give her!
@Samana: I also don't understand why the Dubeys are so hell-bent on this shaadi that they are taking so much crap from the Scindias. This was too much today. The Dubeys should have some self-respect and backbone to draw the line whenever it becomes too much. Really today Shobha should have just said "It's my daughter's big day and anyone can do the haldi after me."
