This is where the Punar Vivaah writers didn't do any research.
It's not a whole diamond or a diamond ring that causes death, it's a powdered diamond. As the powdered diamond is sharp likes knives which can cut internal organs and cause internal bleeding.
In the show we saw them mixing a whole diamond ring into the kheer...almost there in theory, yet so off!
