There were speculative reports that the character of Divya may be erased from the storyline of Zee TV's Punarvivaah - Ek Nayi Umeed' after actor Rubina Dilaik opted out of the show. However, the latest buzz from the sets is that the character Divya' will soon be back on the show! The actress who will now essay Divya will be none other than versatile and popular actor, Parul Chauhan. Adaa Khan and Parul were considered for this lead role opposite Karan V Grover. However, it is Parul who the makers felt was a glove-fit for the role!

Confirms Parul, "I accepted the show because I find the concept and my character interesting. It's a privilege to be working with Zee TV for the first time and Shashi-Sumeet are a delight as producers."

Parul's character Divya enters the show at a point where our hero Raaj (played by Karan V Grover) has taken to the bottle as a result of depression. After having got his ex-wife Sarita (Srishty Rode) married to rich industrialist Vikrant Singhania (Eijaz Khan), he realizes his feelings for her and professes love to her. He even offers to elope with her when things aren't going too well between her husband Vikrant and her! However, Sarita refuses to run away with Raaj, saying he could have realized love for her in the course of their failed ten year marriage but all through, he treated her like a glorified house-help. So, he's a broken man when Parul enters the show as Divya.
