This combined with yesterday's articles makes things quite clear. Divya was definitely the lead of the show and Rubina was promoted as such. Divya and Raj too had great chemistry. But the story was not developed properly at all. There is definitely some politics between the channel and the PH that caused this to happen. Otherwise it is not possible that from the first day, there was no concentration on Divya's character when she is shown as a lead. The ratings were not an issue at that time as it was just the first week.
Rubina was very excited about the show the way she talked about her role and character the week before the show started. So definitely something else was narrated to her and something different was shown. Rubina mentioned that she let go of some good offers because of this show. So this role must have seemed better than other roles.
I am wondering about the business strategy of this PH. They did not end PV1 on a good note and their actors too hinted about being used. Then PV2 started badly and it seems as again another popular actor was used in one way or other. Then this has happened with two other popular actors within just one year.
This is show biz and such things happen. But when it happens with one PH so frequently within one year, then it implies that there is something wrong somewhere. It may be that this PH's forte is just their typical saas-bahu shows and cannot develop anything further than that. So when they try a different type of a genre (with saas-bahu in background rather than in forefront), they flounder. Instead of introspecting, they start changing actors/story and try to bring it back to their regular saas-bahu fare with a sacrificing mahaan bahu, clueless hero with not much to do (except to show his wife the support in the background) and insecure in-laws driving events.
But coming back to Rubina, her character of Divya was a beautiful character. She did a great job within the limited scope she was given. She seems to be taking the disappointment in her stride. I hope she finds something better and comes back to the screen soon. I will definitely give her next show a try as she is very talented.
