Ruchi, the problem is that they started without a proper story that would connect audience to all three characters regardless of whether their actions are wrong or write. I remember Misti writing in one of threads that it would have better to start with Raj-Divya story and then continuing with Sarita entry into life. So viewers would have connected to three characters and would have at least got some logical reason to their actions. The characters may lose sympathy from time to time in viewers' mind, but they should never lose the connetion. In other words, viewers should want their characters to triumph in the end. Here they never did except for probably Sarita's character because her suffering was very obvious. But even a lot of viewers don't feel connected to her because of how nothing was shown to explain her reasons. You asked in one of posts why should Raj do her PV and why not her parents. Well, the parents are missing forever. If they show that parents have no concern for her and are indifferent to her suffering, then it would be a novel idea for a husband to find a husband for his wife.

Anyway, so the ratings have dropped and instead of showing a proper back story, they are changing characters and story and introducing sub plots. Probably one of these plots was meant to be shown because they have shown Raj wanting to do Sarita's PV. They will keep on introducing subplots until the ratings settle down and then the couple will be decided. If any of the sub plot becomes hit, then it would be shown continuously until it loses its flavor. I have seen this PH and others doing the same thing.

They can bring in subplots or move story in a different direction provided characterizations do not ping pong. Because if that happens, then audience will not be able to connect to the show regardless of how many subplots they introduce.

Here the characterization has already changed and I am talking about Divya and Sarita. Raj's characterization was never explained properly in the first place except to show that Divya is like oasis for him. is that because his family is so crazy and he was brought up in an abusive environment where either he was pampered or treated like an object. We don't know as they haven't shown anything. It is Divya and Sarita's changing characterization that is making me wary. The honest Divya is shown as dishonest who wants to keep up the charade. The self-absorbed Sarita is shown as the sacrificing one who doesn't want to manipulate anymore. They can change Sarita slowly as part of her evolution, but again the changes are so abrupt that they are jarring to me as a viewer.

🤣 I was seriously answering Ruchi's post and then I saw this thread. My God, didn't even relate the name. Now Myra is so interested in this guy. Myra, are you now off from Raj and Divya pair. Are you now rooting for this one considering he is so "young" and has the same name as somebody special. Now I want to see this guy's picture. Why do I get the feeling that now you will be rooting for Raj and Sarita and telling everyone that marriage should not break?

Don't talk about Urmila. She gives me shivers thinking about the other "screeching Urmila Kaki". Then I get the vision of that character named "You know who" by Misti.

Agree with everything you said. Raj was not explained. But even Sarita and Divya were very one-dimensional to begin with. People connected with or thought that Sarita got more sympathy and screen time because her scenes were very loud and her suffering too much in your face. But we don't really know Sarita. If that Meera number had not played, I wouldn't have known that she has that worship kind of feeling for Raj. And since characters were not developed, any change looks abrupt and jarring rather than natural growth or response to changed circumstances.

I started out with real dislike for Raj - but seeing his family that's full of bullies and sadists or just plain dumb characters, I am starting to feel bad for him. Parents usually know their child well, how could his parents assume that he would get physically close to Divya just coz she was not in her senses. This son goes out saving girls from goons and his parents have no clue about his real character. Again, here he is openly fighting for Sarita's life and his Mom comes up with 2nd marriage plan. It seems no one in his family knows him or bothers to know him - a pathetic, depressing place for any kid to grow up in. No wonder he can't identify abuse when he sees it.

Regarding sub plots, oh well, I don't care much for the leads at the moment - instead of making me care for them they are introducing romance for the dumbest, most boring side character. I am not thrilled 😡. (based on the spoiler that new guy will fall for Shiela)

@Ruchi, all three characters looked one-dimensional in the beginning and in a lot of early episodes (the ones where viewers start developing interest in a show based on characters). The pity is that none of these characters - Divya, Raj, Sarita are one-dimensional. Actually, even Gaurav is not one dimensional because he too comes from a broken family and yet has retained kindness. I actually wanted to see a contrast between him and Raj because even though there are some similarities between his mother and Kamla (both are star struck and think of illusion as reality), the value system given by his mother is totally different and also he was not brought up in an abusive environment.

Regarding Sarita's view point, that is the only view point that has ever been given to viewers. The song has three paragraphs - one for Divya, one for Raj and one for Sarita. I wouldn't have known that this was the theme song for all three characters if Vishaka hadn't posted the lyrics. The two stanzas on Raj and Divya have never been shown. So besides not knowing their backstory, their characterization is also not made clear even after leap. They only wanted viewers to sympathize with Sarita as they want the theme of girlfriend doing PV of lover and his wife. In the process, they forgot that neglecting two characters (emotional neglect and not the screen space neglect), they are making viewers lose connection with the story.

I agree that they have to bring a romantic track for the dullest and most irritating character of the show whereas I am interested in finding out about these three characters. Of course I am excluding Dadi from the irritating characters because there is no guy coming from her. But maybe it may not be a bad idea to get a guy both for Dadi and Shiela. Maybe that way Dadi would move with step-Dada and Shiela would move with the groom number one and we won't have to see their nonsense.

I agree with what you wrote about Raj. The parents don't know him and they have nothing in common with him. They are totally materialistic whereas he is an artist and then all the other stuff they have no clue. That's why I was wondering how did he come to be like this in this environment. Where are his genes coming from ? Not from Sohu, Kamu or Dadi. Wonder if he takes after Dada who probably died early because he couldn't take too much of Dadi and decided that leaving this world is better option than staying with her.

I am hoping that even though this romantic angle is for Shiela, they clarify all three characters. I cannot understand why they would show such a long timeline and let their main characters (even Sarita) remain so unexplained.

Now to answer ur questions..no, i am not changing my mind... i am a person who encourages marriage based on love and understanding, but raj and sarita dont have that in my vision..so will still have a lil hope for ravya..
Abt the new guy, he did got my interest a lil bit 😳 Will b waiting for this Rohan performance as i never seen him act..

I scratched my head a lil to remember urmila kaki..yup, not a pleasent memory..

Myra, thanks. I was thinking of doing that for ages, but then got lazy. I was really tired of that generic avatar pic. So wanted a more specific one applicable to me.

Ok...Phew... I was thinking that either you are rooting for this guy for Divya or you have fallen for Gaurav and want him for Divya now.

I can understand you not remembering Urmila Kaki. Who wants to remember that irritating character? Hopefully, this Urmila would be more interesting character.
