Hi Nice to see you all interested in Indian History... but the one who looted 17 times was Mohd Of Ghaznavi not Ghor :-)...

Let me clarify two things, I hope you people understand:

1. Hinduism is not a religion but a way of living :-)...

2. History is nothing but how you interpret facts, and it is always ruled by winner, In India we never believe in writing History but always trusted word of mouth.

So if people say what has been written in a istory book is always correct, I reckon no not always... they wrote what they felt is correct or been biased... hence I am completely disagree with the facts provided here...[forum.indya.com/showthread.php?t=50464]
And neither consider PRC a Sage, he was a Great Indian king, who was equally Human.... and yes he was considered to be the humble, soft hearted and adequate king of that time...

Now coming to the facts...

1. PrithviRaso is fictional story based on real incidents where characters are real, [original book written by Chand Bardai is almost destroyed].
2. Other authors simply revived the book based on the facts they had. No authenticities how close are they with the real one
3. After PRC died, and who knows what Ghori asked his historians to write about the king andd the battle .
4. As I already mentioned we as an Indian never maintained written history, and from word of mouth … people only have immortal stories about this great warrior, and they always portray him as a hero, even aftr being aware of the facts that we are invaded by foreigners because of his ideologies.. no matter whether you're in Gujarat, Rajasthan [or even in UP, where Jaichand ruled]
Don't you think that makes PRC an Immortal King of India?

i agree wid whatever u said actually.😳..xcept the ghori part....it was Ghori not Ghazni...ghori defeated Ghazni n then he fought wid PRC!!!!!😳

Okay as far as i remember all the history the teachers have taught us for the past 10 years(no more history studyin for me..yippie 😳 )
Prithviraj Chauhan was a brave king and he stood up and fought. unity was an issue that always prevailed in India and there was not unity among the Indian regional kings and that was one of the major reasons why the Mughals were able to rule over India and after them even the Britishers.
So..i think this unity aspect of it answers your question as to y..none of the other kings are shown fighting and y PRC is greyin his hair.

thanks for liking my post...'n' big sorry for using professional langauge ..
anyways I am a newbie to this forum and not a TV geek [:)] I liked the serial and am always interested in ancient Indian History (pre Mughal era), to dekhne ka banta tha na ki Sagars ne 10 saal ke research mein kya kiya [;)]

I am not allowed to post a link here, hope you wont mind reading the stuff here

This is the start of Turkish Invasion in India:
The Medieval Period in India starts with the Turkish invasion. With the death of Harshvardhana, an era of feudalism rose in India. There was a lot of political disheveling in the north India and everyone was too busy capturing small kingdoms than to take notice of the aggressive invasion of the Turks. The Turkish invasion in India took place around the 11th century with the Mahmud of Ghazni raiding the country all the way from Afghanistan. He gained his victory against the Hindushahi kings of Peshawar. The next targets were the Muslim rulers of Multan.

Mahmud of Ghazni plundered India 17 times in a short time span of around 25 years and looted India off its wealth and resources. The areas around Gujarat and Kannauj were rich and prosperous and were looted mercilessly by Mahmud. This wealth helped him consolidate his hold and power over northern India. He made many palaces and mosques with the looted wealth in Ghazni located in central Asia. After plundering India many times, he finally died in Ghazni in 1030 A.D.

The Rajput kings were fighting among themselves for the possession of princely states during the 11th and 12th centuries. They seized every slight opportunity to engage wars against each other. This was also the time when Prithviraj rose to power and married the daughter of the king Jaichand of Kannauj by abducting her from the middle of her wedding. At this time, Mohammed Ghori was planning to invade India and the Rajput king thought he just wanted to loot India and go back. Thus, he decided to become an ally of Mohammed Ghori and help him defeat Prithviraj.

But when he came to know that Ghori wanted to establish a kingdom here, he half heartedly joined Prithviraj along with other Rajput kings and together they were able to defeat Mohammed Ghori. But Prithviraj let him go when Ghori appealed to him. However, the very next year the Afghans launched another attack on Prithviraj and defeated him badly at the war. Ghori however, did not set Prithviraj free and the kingdoms of Prithviraj went in the hands of Qutub-ud-din. With the conquest of Mohammed Ghori, India saw for the first time a proper dynastic rule..

waise all invaders were interested in wealth in India

I hope abhi answer hogaya hoga ke why all regional kings never even tried to help PRC.. by the way kuch bhi kaho Ghori ko chorna was bewakoofi, abhi regret karne se kucch nahi hoga ... [8(]

Hey Lakshmi I agree, but when I said Indian not writing History, I haven't taken into account the text written by Sages, in treta, Satya, or Dwapar yuga

I consider them sacred books, be it Vedas, Ramayana, Upnishads, Puranas, Mahabharat or Geeta. And the biggest irony in India itself people are questioning the existence of Lord Ram… cause the books written don't have evidence of his existence no date specified you see, agar kari bhi hogi toh champaks ko chamkegi nahi because that must be in puzzled verse in shudh Sanskrit. [:$]

I know about Vedas, Mahabharat, Geeta and Ramayana but very less knwledge about .. lagta hai parhna pdega [8(]
Anyways, keep njoying.
