hi guys,
Yesterday when I was in the library – I read an article on prithvi and sanyogita. It was completely different from what I had said in my earlier post sanyogita and prithvi swayamvar that they had never before met each other but only heard till the swayamvar though some points do match. The article did confirm that sanyogita was her father's darling and thus enjoyed a greater degree of freedom than enjoyed by other princesses of that era. It said that sanyogita was not only beautiful but smart as well, she was not only well versed in her princess duties but also well educated. She firmly believed that the rajputs should unite to fight against ghori (this means that ghori was infact invading the rajputs). She tried to convince her father in vain to join hands with delhi, though she admired prithvi she didn't want her father to accept prithvi's supremacy but to be friends so that they could defeat ghori whose attack was imminent. She was adored by the people of kanauj and nearby villages and was lovingly called samyukta. She often visited ashrams of kanauj and near villages with her friends where she taught orphan kids (this matches the sagar's sanyo). During one of these visits she met prithvi who was in disguise and they fell in love.
Prithvi was told of sanyogita by his friend chand bardai. This is how prithvi met sanyo. Chand bardai had returned to delhi from one of his trips (poets often moved freely from one kingdom to another irrespective of the enemyship). This was useful for prithvi coz chand was not only a poet but his close friend and thus prithvi could get info on his enemies move. but this time the info he required was different, chand had often praised princess sanyoigta's beauty and prithvi's curiosity was aroused and so he had asked chand to procure him a portrait of sanyogita. So when they were alone chand gave him the portrait, prithvi's attention was caught by the portrait but prithvi was disappointed, he knew jaichand hated him and had severed all ties from delhi when their grandfather had crowned prithvi the king of delhi and so unless he defeated kanauj in war, his setting foot in kanauj and seeing sanyoigta was out of question. Chand bardai knew his friend well and he knew his friend was attracted to the princess in the portrait and so he said that on his trip he had learnt that king jaichand often allowed his daughter to visit the ashram near kanauj with her friends.
Prithvi and chand disguised themselves and went there when sanyogita too was visiting. If prithvi was attracted to the painting then on seeing sanyogita, he immediately fell in love. Chand's description or the painting was no match to the real sanyogita. sanyogita met the disguised prithvi and as they talked prithvi was impressed with sanyogita. He realized that sanyogita didn't hate prithvi as her father did but admired him and also that she like prithvi believed that rajputs should unite to fight ghori. They continued to meet, sanyogita was too attracted to the stranger and had realized by the way he spoke and behaved that he was no ordinary man. During one such meetings prithvi revealed his true identity alongwith his feelings. Sanyogita was overjoyed as she too had secretly always loved prithvi (now this suggests that prithvi knew sanyogita as sanyogita, and not as nandini and sanyogita didn't know prithvi as prithvi as sagar's suggested). they continued to meet or correspond secretly, till the swayamvar from where we know the story. This does confirm the fact that till the swayamvar jaichand was clueless of his daughter's feelings for prithvi.
Now what is true and what is false, I cant say. Now unless we actually go back in the past, I guess its believe what you like. May in truth some thing totally different might have happened, who knows.
