If the sets at Sagar Sun City, Baroda are anything to go by, the latest venture of Sagar Arts Productions' Prithviraj Chauhan-Dharti Ka Veer Yodha will indeed be an impressive one.
The production house has apparentlyspent Rs 4 and a half crore for only the palace set. The other sets include a man-made dessert and a lake. The series will trace the life and times of the last king of Delhi, Prithviraj Chauhan. The show which was in the pipeline for several years will finally air next month on Star Plus.
"This was Dr Ramanand Sagar's (of Ramayana fame) dream. We wanted to launch the project on an international scale in the 90s. But it got shelved. We are glad that we are finally making this historical epic," says producer Prem Sagar. Of the legendary ruler Prithviraj, Prem says, "He was the greatest bhoomiputra (son of the soil) in India. We need to tell our kids about this hero."
Prem reveals that Oomang Kumar who had done the sets for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black has been roped in for Prithviraj. "It took him 200 people and two months to create original paintings for the palace," he adds.
