Mansi... how can you say that back in the days that people never got to know their princesses. this was before the invasion of the mughals and there were not as many restrictions on the women then. due to safety and security, they might have not been allowed to roam about freely; but their paintings etc must have been displayed (again as i said -> probably; cos both of us havent been there at that point of time). besides, the kings used to hold open darbars and his queen probably standing with him.. as seen from the darbar balconies in many mahals that remain in India today... according to the story of Ramayan we know, all the people knew their king and queen... 😊
and if as you say the princesses were not recognised by the common public, then the princesses would have been well protected and not allowed to roam about in the common markets (unless she is in disguise na) so this is definitely a blooper like the numerous others in this serial..
