Here is the link to the Chandrakanta novel, it is in hindi but when you open it, there might be an option to translate the whole thing into english. Now this translation will not great but you will be able to understand what is going on LOL 😛

I am reading in hindi because I am polishing my hindi hahahha

I feel so out of place because neither have I seen the DD version nor have I read the novel.😆

But from whatever I have heard about the DD series from my friends who have seen it a few things are clear-

1.The show completely deviated from CK-Virendra's love story.

2.Kroor Singh and Shivdutt were more popular.Of course talented actors like Akhilendra Mishra and Pankaj Dheer must have added to the charm.

Now coming to this version,it has borrowed the basic premise of the Tilism from the novel along with the names of the characters and is a new story altogether.My views about this version are-

1.It has attempted to do justice to CK and Viru's love story and it has been successful so far.

2.The characters of CK and Viru have more shades and are far more powerful than the DD version's.

3.Shivdutt is the archetype textbook villain and that's a pity.I would have loved a villain who is multifaceted.Something like Loki or Moriarty.But Ankit is doing a great job nevertheless.

4.Kroor Singh seems to be there just for comic relief as of now.I find this to be a wise move since many viewers of DD Chandrakanta are attached to Akhilendra Mishra's iconic version of Kroor Singh.

I haven't read the novel and I would like to read it once.Can anyone provide me a link of the English translation of the novel??

I cannot read Hindi properly.

Just posted the link on this page, just scroll up... It is in hindi but you have the option to translate to english when you open it on internet. The english translation won't be great but it will do fine...you will understand wht exactly is happening.

If I get hold off the english one, will send it to you all.

I have read whole novel and i really like it but some where i feel bored but overall novel story is good and novel is very much focus about aiyar kalakari and i really like conversations between aiyar 5 to 6 aiyar from chunar gad side including badri tej Singh from naughad or chapma, chapla or Ahmad nijam from vijaygad

And in novel shivdatt have beautiful wife name kalawati and she was deeply love with shivdatt and shivdatt mentioned as chunargadh raja with great force but he is not poison person

And in novel Virendra deeply love with Ck and simultaneously he loves another lady called as vankanya and in real novel most of the girls want to marry with Virendra singh

I head an abridged version for young-adults and there was no mention of kalavati there...
but yaah, I know about this forest-nymph who will fall in love with virendra and will ask him to marry her, then she will help him break the tilims...But dilluji, mujhe jitna pata hain Virendra promised to maarry her just because she would help him free ck, not because he had fallen in love with her, and all the time he felt very guilty !

@ Deep - mere paas bhi same gyaankosh link hain, but itz in hiundi scripts, and if I start polishing my hindi I have to start from primers lol lol, so it will take 7 yrs to complete the saga...and if u translate the page, the beauty of the lines will be lost and it gets distorted so bad, that there will be no fun in reading that gibberish !

Yes it is true that girl wants to marry Virendra

But but but

Novel's Virendra use pyar karne lage the pata hai story mai jab wo tej Singh ko adesh dete hai ki us ladki ko khojto tejsingh kahte hai ki lagta hai chandrakanta ke liye aapka pyar kam ho gaya

Tab Virendra kahte hai nahi tejsingh mai bahut hi tension mai hoon

Kyuki jab chandrakanta ka khayal aata hai to iss vankanya ka khayal nahi aata lekin jab iska khayal aata hai tab bhi mujhe Chandrakanta ki fikra rahti hai

Kya karoo tej Singh jab se ise dekha hai aankho ke saamne se iska chehra nahi jata manta hoon ki chandrakanta jaise nahi par us se kam bhi nahi hai ye

And some other lines which indicates Virendra singh intension

And in another scene when Ck Said to Viru i feel some other girl take place in your heart

That time tej Singh blackmail Virendra that time Virendra fold his hand towards tej Singh and said

Please Ck ko kuchh mat batana wo sahan nahi kar payegi

Or iss scene k pad kar mujh badi hasee aai thi
