There has been a lot of discussions about K acting as a buffoon and that he is made to look dumb, especially in front of Pratigya's friends..But if we look at K's character as a whole then he is an unrefined boy who is refined in his own surroundings..Takurs, his friends are of the same upbringing..You can take Krishna out of Allahabad but it seems you can not take Allahabad out of Krishna..
For most who see Krishna, his acts are an embarrassment and that he is been asked to act like a buffoon, but he is acting how he would no matter wherever he is, but his acts stand out because he is behaving in front of educated and civilised people who are conditioned to act and behave accordingly..
How different have KP have been to each other..At the start of their journey when they arrived in Mumbai, both could not contain their excitement..Only difference was that one contained their excitement and the other expressed his..Same with seeing the building in which AN lived..Pratigya was in awe of it but again contained her amazement of seeing tall buildings..K was vocal in his opinion as usual, but at the same time raised an interesting question of how residents will cope if there is a natural disaster but at the same time his innocent or ignorant act of touching the maids feet..
K has the survival instincts and is in many ways more intelligent than P..Because of his confidence and his self belief he is able to cope with each situation in his own way whether it was being proud of not being able to speak or understand English, him questioning, quite rightly how to address a stranger to sorting out the nuisance rickshaw driver to finding directions to get to new places..For most times he has taken control and succeeded..
Only when he is away from his natural surroundings do we see a behaviour which is unfamiliar but to him he is his normal self… The restaurant antics were just that..Him not caring how he is being perceived but Neelima was judging him based on his behaviour..We basically saw his antics through Neelima's eyes and were embarrassed with it..Him getting into silly fights and his behaviour afterwards is bringing a negative impression on Pratigya's friends..
P, on the other hand is so used to his behaviour that she watches it like a loving wife..The words of Neelima has not sunk into her but with incidents of jail, K outburst afterwards and him further embarrassing moves at Gurba may bring an understanding to what Neelima was saying and thinking…
In the end it will bring a positive change in the lives of Kriya and also K will come out on top and both AN will see what type of person K really is and what kind of love he has for Pratigya..
To summarise, K has had many hits and misses..Hit that when it comes to different ways to romance no one can beat him and that he can even teach, him taking control of the trip by asking for tourist spots and directions, dealing with some tight spots like making sure that NA know who he is and accepting NA as Pratigya's friends without passing judgement..Him holding a full conversation with Neelima and sticking to his beliefs..very understanding readily agreeing to stay with them for his wife's sake one in a hundred will do it, even the rich educated well settled husband wudnt do that
The misses is his attitude to who he is and forgetting where he is and not in his Allahabad surroundings.. His penchant for getting into fights and not understanding that he is not alone but has a wife and has to be responsible for..Him embarrassing himself in front of P friends and is made to look like a baffoon in front of them..
