The name evokes so many emotions, to the believer..a symbol of purity, a hotline to God, A mother ...To the common man, A source of livelihood, To the romantic...a wide and beautiful vista's of scenery's , a beautiful setting to be with his loved one ...and in Mann ki Awaz ...what will Ganga be ??
In the Veda's..Ganga came about after the slaying of a demon Snake and was a source of sustenance ...Will she be the sustenance that will nourish the withering KRIYA ?? or in a complete twist of this will she be the poison that will destroy KRIYA ??
In the Mahabaratha and Ramayana..She is brought from Heaven to resurrect the dead Son's of Sagara... will that be her purpose here ...Resurrection !! ..Not only of the weakening KRIYA's marital bond..but also resurrecting the dead values, principles, goodness that is markedly absent .. resurrecting the dying embers of humanity in the bosom's of the Thakur's ...resurrecting the innate sense of justice, a sense of fairness, a sense of compassion in Krishna...resurrecting the dying or extinguished fires in Pratigya..
Ganga as the redeemer...The greatest attribute of Ganga is the fact that a dip in her will wipe away the sins of not only this birth but that of all births ... Is she brought in for redemption of Amma ..because her sins are not common ones..she has been guilty of trying to kill Pratigya, Hers was the hand which put in the sleeping powder during Kesar Khand, She was the instigator of the incident which resulted in the miscarriage and subsequent barrenness of Kesar..hers was the mind which intimidated with the death of Kesar's child if Kesar continued to support Pratigya.. hers was the mind which plotted, strategised and succeeded in tearing apart a couple thereby making a mockery of Pavithra Agni, Saath vachan's [vow's ] ..Hers was the hand which willfully polluted and soiled the items kept for the pooja, which was supposed to bring in peace and prosperity ...towering above all this , is her cruel and cold blooded destruction of her own Blood ...Amma's cup is overflowing, it is time for her to either perish or redeem herself to begin a new innings...Will Ganga bring about that redemption..
In The Mahabarath, Ganga takes a human form, copulates with a Human King, has sons from, all of whom she kills save one, The reason for this shocking act is purely altruistic ..but Lets just focus on the killing part..will that be Ganga's role, Killing of Amma, Symbolically..
