July 28th - Plot of the Day
Krishna's Darbar Continues................
In the throes of a migraine that is tugging away at this restraint and any wisps of patience that may be left after watching the lamest trial in the history of the world, Krishna decides that the autocratic approach will work way better in his court and the solution for the woman's betrayal and callous disregard for her husband must befit the graveness of her crime. Seriously, this situation would have turned out a lot differently methinks if Pratigya had played nurse rather than masseuse and given him some extra strength Advil Liquigels rather than the feather touch massage that only messed his hair but did not reduce the stress. Pratigya was very distraught and Shakti was very amused (as usual with anything Krishna does). That poor majdhoor was holding the rifle so tightly in fear, seemed like he was going to shoot himself in the foot.😆 Luckily for all, the Krishna Darbar was adjourned and in stepped Illahabad Ka Sher and with one dhad, the majhdoor ki pant gilli ho gayi. The elder sher's approach at dealing with the issue showed calm introspection whereas the younger cub's was a bold display of passionate aggression. Seeing the seasoned veteran, the majhdoor tried to restate his case to but the young cub was having none of it and very forcefully evicted the man and his troupe off his territory, much to the distress of the reigning king who needs votes of majhdoor's like this one to win the prized trophy, the elections.
Pratigya is like this little deer that was born without any survival instincts. She seems to only approach the cub when he is enraged or all charged up about something. She bravely goes where no man has gone before. Her terror gives her the courage to question his snap and rash solution. Surprisingly, Krishna decides to indulge her with his "law of the jungle" point of view. Rules are meant to be followed not broken and when a rule as serious as loyalty and love for one's spouse is defied or defiled then such a serious offense has only one solution, MAUT. Wow Pratigya was looking like she wished she had never been born. 😆Her father's cautionary words echoed in her ears and this served only to make her more distraught and terrified.
The Dawn of the Day of Judgement ...................
All the women of the house gather together to do an aarti. Amazingly Amma looked happy. Was she secretly praying to counteract Pratigya's prayers? Aarti done, Pratigya meets Shakti on the way to her den of everything but iniquity. Shakti as usual is not into the jhoot moot ka dikhwa and totally ignores the aarti ki thali but when mommy dearest insists he goes to do the aarti. But Pratigya must rub all the thakur men the wrong way because Shakti uses the aarti to taunt Pratigya and pit her father's release against SS election victory wish. Our Pratigya seems to have a new born desire to abandon all sense of self preservation and taken on this monolith. She steps on her soapbox for leverage and teaches the lesson about importance of heartfelt prayer vs. a scripted wish with that bold daring look that seriously has zero effect on Shakti. One lesson and murak student done - onto student number 2 who is dressing up like a dulha for day 2 of incessant boredom and noise pollution in Amanji's darbar.
Our Dulhe Raja's barometer is stable again. Seems a good night's sleep did the work that feather touch could not. A cooler barometer means our baba is back in one of his gupshupi moods. Along comes another trademark Krishna declaration of undying ardent love. Apparently, Prats is his muse, his inspiration to flaunt all known rules and rise in mutiny against home and hearth. A love that is so blind yet strong that against all odds its resolve never wavers. Pratigya it seems is Krishna's Madonna in his Renaissance Era. Pratigya is so impressed she deigns the slightest of smiles on her faithful subject and even gives him the most inconsequential "pat-on-back" statements at which our baba bounces right back with the "hum tumhare pati hain" volley. Pratigya decides again in trademark Pratigya gusto to leverage this light hearted mood of her spouse to open Pandora's Box. However, our CVs are the biggest teases ever and the box of unmentionable ails remains sealed yet again.
Aman's Penal Code in Action......................
Day 2 commences. Shyamji yet again arrives like a lamb to the slaughter. Saxophones yet again congregate for the feast of the fallen. Krishna yet again looks bored and unimpressed.
Seriously, this government prosecutor is very impressive. He has evidence, seems to ask pointed questions about the sequence of events that led to the ill-fated events, uses amazing rebuttal to expose gaps in the Prof's testimony and makes some very valid and sensible comments about Prof's version of events. To rub it in, he even reminds the court that the Prof's testimony is uncorroborated. During this entire time the Saxaphones look like they need a fresh supply of saline, Krishna looks like that migraine is coming on fast and furious and he wants to shoot the prosecutor for dragging the Prof through the muck and our dashing Defense Attorney sat there hunched in deep thought (or was it despair and resignation??) during the prosecutor's examination. His only contribution to the entire defense was not the introduction of refuting evidence but ................ WAIT FOR IT...... WAIT FOR IT.................. DRUMROLL PLEASE...................... the introduction of the Actual Criminal as his star witness. Adarsh looked terrified and stared at his father with this thoughtful expression ................ almost like he was wondering if buddho was worth his son's freedom and future. Wah kya sansakaari aulad paya.
Guys, tomorrow Pandora's Box will be open and with it will come the Storm of the Century............ Weather alert issued, let's hold on tight and wait for the storm to pass and the Rainbow to grace Illahabad.
