Part Five
"Did I hurt you?" asked a concerned Pratigya. "Yes." he replied. "But, the wound is on the other shoulder...." Pratigya said, confused. He opened his eyes and looked intently in her eyes. "You won't understand Pratigya, you won't understand......"
For once, Pratigya didn't look away. Instead she stared at him as well, challenging him. Both were trying to express a lot of emotions through their eyes, but unfortunately for them, they still haven't learnt to communicate with each other. It was Krishna who looked away first. Heavy awkwardness filled the air and as usual it was Krishna who broke the silence.
"Pratigya.." She looked at him and waited for the rest.
"I'm glad you are back...."
Pratigya stood dazedly and watched him taking out his revolver, tucking it in his jeans and walking away. It looked strange to her that he should go out in such condition. What was so much urgent? It's not as if he worked. It took her a moment to figure two and two out.
So that's why SS brought me home without much hype. He needs Krishna to do something for him..maybe he's hurt while doing the job...
Blackmail & Bargain – that's what I've become – she thought bitterly.

Shyamji entered the house in small steps. His head was still spinning. The encounter with Angad was still playing on his head. Their lewd comments and the insane demands were too much to bear. He was so engrossed in his own thoughts that he didn't notice the gloomy atmosphere of the house. It was after sometimes that he enquired about Pratigya. She's the right to know.
"Pratigya's father-in-law came and took her away." Adarsh replied sombrely.
"He's your father-in-law as well, can't you show some respect?" Komal glared at her husband.
"Oh has he done anything that would make me respect him?" Adarsh challenged her.
"Whatever! He's elder to you. You should respect him anyways."
"I can't respect a person like him." Adarsh grumbled.
"Oy, I'm doing so many things for you and you can't even show a little respect to my father? I have to go all the way round to adjust with you and you can't move a muscle to adjust with me?"
"Adarsh! Komal!" Nainaji chided them slightly. "Why are you bickering so much? Can't you see your father is tensed? What's wrong?" the last question was towards Shyamji who shook his head. "It's nothing, it's nothing."
"Of course it's something, your face is all pale. Please tell us, don't hide things from us." Nainaji pleaded.
Shyamji wiped his forehead with the back of his hand. "Well, actually..actually it's about...it's Angad!"
"What!" cried Adarsh and Nainaji together. "Angad! Again?"
"Yes, well...he's back in the scene. In fact, he was not gone from the scene." Shyamji replied.
"Papa, what are you saying?" Arushi exclaimed. "Please tell us what happened. What did Angad do this time?"
Shyamji looked at Komal who was giving strange looks to everyone and said, "Komal beta, please go to your room." Komal flared up at once, "Why! Why should I go to my room? I'm also in the family, ain't I? You all keep chanting 'beta' all the time, and now that there's a family discussion you're pushing me aside?"
"Komal, do as you are told, go." Adarsh said, earning a scowl from Komal. Komal looked at Nainaji and said, "See, Maji, if you send me away, what's the point in that? I'll listen from behind the curtains anyway!"
"Komal is right. She's also a member of our family now." Nainaji said softly. Komal gave a triumphant look at Adarsh, and it was his turn to scowl.
"Enough of this drama." Arushi said impatiently. "Tell us Papa." Then she added in a soft mutter, "Like brother, like sister, always drama & drama!"
There was complete silence in the Saxena house after Shyamji finished. The same thoughts were going on everyone's mind.
It was not Krishna who kidnapped Pratigya! Krishna didn't beat Nitin up! He didn't do the stuffs to degrade Pratigya's name!
It was all Angad's doing!
And now he was expecting five lakhs for keeping quiet....
"Five Lakhs! From where will it come?" said a worried Nainaji. Komal, who was trying to understand the whole fact, spoke up. "You..you thought that..that Krishna kidnapped Pratigya? And actually it was Angad? And you know the truth after Angad confess his crime? Are you stupid or what? You could've just asked me! I would've told you way back....it's the funniest thing I've ever heard – Krishna kidnapping his Pratigya! Wow!" she shook her head disbelievingly. Then suddenly she turned serious, "Listen, you don't know Krishna. But I know my brother. I'm not saying that he's not capable of kidnapping someone, but if he have to do so, he won't come in mask and in disguise. He will just come, point his gun and drag her away in front of everyone!"
"It's alright Komal. But now we've to think how'll we get the money." Adarsh said.
"Money! Do you think with your head or what?" Komal asked, annoyed. "I'll call and tell Krishna that someone is troubling you. That Angadwa won't live to see tomorrow morning."
......................
Krishna was unusually snappy that evening. Already he had an argument with Shakti and threatened to break another vase on his head. On the other hand, SS was in an unusual happy mood. He laughed at everything and was supporting Krishna everytime. Pratigya guessed that Krishna must've solved SS's problem, whatever they were. It continued even in the dinner table. Pratigya noticed that he was having trouble with the food as his hand was injured, and muttering cursed under his breath. Out of pity, she went to help him.
"Don't touch my food, I'm not taking anything from your hand." snapped Krishna at Pratigya who withdrew her hand from the plate at once. While Dadi, Shakti and Kesar was confused, SS looked thoughtfully at his son; Amma gloated openly and said, "Come on Baba, let me help you a bit."
Pratigya didn't know why but she wanted him to refuse Amma as well. But he didn't seem to have any problem about Amma touching his food.
What! Pratigya thought irritably. Why did he have to do so much fuss to bring me back if he can't bear me. I was very much happy at my home.
Her thought was broken when she heard Krishna coughing. She intentionally looked away. SS intervened, "Krishna Bahu, give him some water."
Pratigya wanted to use some of SS's favourite swear words on him, but poured water in a glass and was about to put it in front of him when Krishna caught her hand and drank from her hand. His eyes met her and she thought he was trying to express something, but she didn't get it. Amma's face blackened. Dadi and SS shared a knowing smirk.

Preview for Part 6
Pratigya leaned against the pillar and pressed the piece of lemon to her mouth, relishing in the sharp sourness and sweet smell of the lemon. It helped her to get over her nauseous feelings. Why do they have so many non-veg dishes, she thought. She's been a vegetarian all her life and naturally didn't like the smell of the non-veg foods. Thank God that at least I don't have to touch them, how repulsed I would be if I had to touch...
Suddenly she straightened, remembering the incidents of dinner. Could it be....
