chapter---9

pratigya felt giddy,she also felt a sharp pain in her stomach... she had nt eaten anythng for the last 12 hrs...an had drank really little.... she felt ill.... apart frm that she was allergic to bus journeys....she felt lik vomitting. the woman sitting beside her cud sense her sudden uncomfortableness and asked----kya hua beta? kya taklif ho rahi hain aapko?

pratigya was nt in a mood and situation to answer,she wanted the bus to stop at once..she cud no longer keep it inside.... the woman seemed to guess it and called out to the bus driver--- bhaisaab zaara rokiye na.....ladki ki tabiyat bigad rahi hain....

suddenly an excitement was created among the passengers...pratigya had started sweating and taking deep breaths... the bus halted on one side of the road... many of the passengers came to her,to help her......bt among all of them she cud make out one single voice-----pratigya kya hua? batao hume....kya taklif ho rahi hain? she cudnt mange to reply although she wanted too. she felt herself lifted up by someone...whu she guessed was krishna....

he took her outside the bus and put her down...she fell down on her knees and vommitted.... she took out evrythng outside.... watevr she had in her stomach bt she cud nt vomit out her feelings,he fear and her though she wud hve loved to...

krishna was rubbing his hand lightly on her back.......wen she finished,he took a bottle and splashed water on her face,he washed her face and neck and made her drink some water.... she felt better bt she was still weak......

he supported her wen she stood up...and started walking towards the bus.... the other people whu had also come down to help her,followed...

as soon as they had boarded the bus,the lady whu had been really nice with pratigya said to krishna all of a sudden----kaise pati ho tum?bhala aisi halat mein koi pati apne patni ko akele bithate hain kya?

inspite of her weakness,pratigya's eyes became wide with surprise...evn krishna was shocked. the lady cntinued---are bechari maa bannewali hain...aur uska pati use chodke kahi aur jakar baitha hain......kaisa pati hain?

pratigya and krishna looked at each other with puzzled expression on their faces...

the lady---tum yahan baitho samjhe? apne patni ke saath.....main tumhare seat par baith rahi hun.. krishna tried to say somethng bt she stopped him and said---aab shukriya mat bolna...ye meri beti jaisi hain.....iska khayal rakhna thikse.....

nw wat cud he do.....he sat down beside her while the lady went at the back towards his seat...

pratigya did nt look at him,she was staring outside.... she knew that the lady had misunderstood her to be pregnant as she was ill and vommitted and she had also misunderstood krishna as her husband.....she felt really embarrased and cud nt look at him. krishna sat quietly..... the bus started to move....

after sitting quietly for quite along time,krishna felt an urge to talk to her... they cudnt cntinue lik that....he wanted to know that wat was going on in her mind....

krishna---aap thk hain abhi?

pratigya replied softly---hmm.......

krishna---aap kuch khayengi?

pratigya---nhi......

krishna felt impatient---woh humse thk se baat kyu nhi kar rahi hain? aab iska kya matlab samjhe hum? kya woh hume pasand nhi kar rahi hain?

he opened his mouuth to say somethng directly bt gulped and stopped... he thot----nhi...hum istarah usse koi sawal nhi puchenge...agar woh khud humse baat karna chahe to hi hum baat karenge...warna nhi..........

he smiled to himself---accha hain...kam se kam hume bhul to jayegi woh.....uski ye bura sapna yaniki hum...jitna jaldi use humse chutkara mil jaye utna hi accha hain uske liye....

he tilted his head behind and closed his eyes...

pratigya was gazing out of the windows....she was staring at the trees,the houses,the roads......the people bt her mind was revolving around one specific wrd----KRISHNA. she cudnt get him out of her head.... she knew that her love was with her just for 1 or two days...after that he wud nvr show his face to her...she knew it....that was the reason for wich she was cntinuously trying to avoid him..... she didnt want to become more attached to him and create trouble for him.... she knew that once she reached delhi,she wud nvr see him again in her whole life bt she also knew that she wud nvr be able to forget these three days spent with him....he wiud always haunt her memories......... if she cud...she wud have nvr let him leave her......he said that he was a gangster,she didnt care, he said that he had killed people,she still knew that he wasnt wrong.....it was her belief that krishna cud nvr be wrong...then why shud he leave her....why?

tears welled in her eyes...she thot----kyu krishna? hamari kya galati hain? hume kyu itni badi saaza de rahe ho? hume tumpar pura bharosa hain.....plz hume chodke mat jao............

bt then suddenly the face of her father flashed in her mind....-------nhi......hum krishna ke saath nhi reh sakte....papa use mar dalenge.........mar dalenge use......

she felt terribly afraid and unconsciously clutched on to krishna's sleeve... he woke up instantly and saw her face...it had become pale......

krishna---kya hua pratigya? firse tabiyat kharab ho rahi hain?

pratigya nodded her head sideways....she was still clutching at his sleeve....

krishna guessed that the poor grl was feeling terribly frightened abt somethng....

he put his arm around her gently and pulled her slowly towards his side.... she immidiately responded and hugged him tightly...she hid her face in his chest and breathed heavily....

krishna whispered in her ear---kya soch rahi hain aap? kis baat ka darr hain aapko bataiye.....jabtak hum aapke saath hain...aapko darne ki koi zaroorat nhi hain....hum hain na aapke saath....hmmm?

he consoled her as if she was a child.....and she snuggled closer to him...... she wanted to stay in his arms...at least for the moment..she didnt care abt anyhtng else in the wrld,she didnt care abt wat wud be happening to them after 2 days.....she didnt care abt her future... she only wanted to stay in his arms as long as she cud,as long as time let her......

krishna gazed at her,resting peacefully in his embrace...

suddenly he heard a passenger listening to the fm and the song going on made him feel weak.....and his stomach lurched...

chapter---10

pratigya and krishna arrived at the kota bus stop at 10.30 the next morning... it was really hot and the dry wind made their skin feel lik paper... krishna made pratigya sit down under a shade and himself went to find someone. he came to the ticket counter and asked the man sitting there---bhaiya hum yahan se delhi kaise ja sakte hain?

the man looked at him carefully frm the top of his specs and then said---bus se,gadi se,jisse aapki marzi ho....

krishna---nhi hum ye janna chahte the ki delhi jane wali bus kab ayega...aur agar hum gadi mein jana chahe to wo hume kahan se milega?

the man---agar bus se jana chaho to ticket le lo aur yahan intezaar karo.....shyam tak bus aa jayegi...aur agr gadi se jana chaho to mujhe mat pucho kyunki mujhe nhi pata......

krishna felt like slapping the man..bt he cntrolled himself... he said---bhaisaab hamare saath hamari patni hain jo bht bimar hain...kya bus aane se pehle hum use lekar kahin ruk sakte hain? wo yahan is dhup mein intezaar nhi kar paegi....

the man directly at him for the frst time. he seemed to be thnking somethng. then he said slowly---oo to aisa hain...aap chahe to mere ghar par intezaar kar sakte hain shyam tak.....meri lugai hain wahan woh apki patni ka khayal rakhengi.....

krishna felt relieved... he felt ashamed of himself that he had frst thot of slapping the man,he was nice. he came out of the counter and said---kahan hain aapki patni? use lekar chaliye hamare saath,ghar dur nhi hain.....

krishna---rukie ek min,hum use lekar ate hain....

krishna ran to the place where he had left pratigya. she sat there,quietly,staring at the sand dunes....

he said to her---pratigya chalo..

pratigya--kahan?

krishna--hamari bus raat ko ayega..tabtak humne tumhara rehne ka intezaam kar diya hain....chalo hamare saath.

pratigya got up slowly and followed him..

the room was small bt really cosy.. it had a thick mattress to lie on and a mud jug full of water.. ratna,the wife of jatin-the man at the counter was really gentle and helpful.. she brot another mattress for pratigya so that her bed feels more thick.

ratna looked at krishna and asked--kya aapke liye bhi ek rasai la doon?

krishna said hurriedly---nhi...nhi...hum thk hain....

he cud understand well wat she had meant..it was a vry natural thng for her to belive that.....bt he felt embarressed....

ratna smiled shyly at the couple and then she left....

as soon as she went out..krishna got up and moved away to the window,he did nt want to hamper pratigya's rest. he lit a cigarette. he had been saving that one for really long...pratigya opened her eyes at the smell... she saw him smoking. she hated smoking..evn her father was afraid to smoke in frnt of her. immediately she got up and went over to him. then,without a single wrd he took out the cigarette frm between his lips and threw it out of the window.. krishna was furious at once.

krishna---kya badtameeze hain ye?

pratigya replied sharply--hamare sapne koi smoke nhi karta...hume pasand nhi hain....

krishna felt his temper rising. noone had evr dared to command him in his life..evryone was afraid of him...

unconscious of himself,he caught hold of her hair and pulled it backwards,her head tilted at his pull.... she was abt to yell in pain wen he put his hand over her mouth...

then he said in a hissing tone----ajtak kisi ki himmat nhi hui humse koi sawal karne ki ya humse aise pesh aane ki.....tum samajhti kya ho apne aap ko?

pratigya felt as if her brains wud burst,he was strong and it pained a lot,she shut her eyes tightly......she only wanted him to stop smoking as it was injurious to his own health....

krishna let go of her. she fell down on her knees and touched the back of her head,it pained..... she looked at krishna.....he was looking away..

suddenly,for the frst time she felt terrible anger, her head pained a lot and she wanted to hurt him too... becoz he had hurt her without a concrete reason.....

she got up,walked towards him and turned him to her side by pulling at his shoulder.. then she luked at him in disgust and slapped him hard on his face....

pratigya shouted---kyu kar rahe ho tum aisa? kyu? akhir kya kiya hain humne? kya galati hain hamari....agar itni nafrat karte ho to jan se maar kyu nhi dete hume... jabtak hum zinda hain hum tumse nafrat nhi kar sakte.......nhi kar sakte nafrat hum tumse....mar do hume.....mar do!!!!!

at frst krishna was shocked at her outburst....he knew that he was wrong on her each and every moment bt he did it deliberately so that she is hurt and she start hating him....

pratigya was all in tears....her eyes burned with intense anger. she tucked at his collar and shook him hard---jawab chahiye mujhe,kyu? kyu? humne kya kiya? tum samajhte kyu nhi????? hum nhi kar sakte tumse nafrat.....kabhi nhi.........agr humne koshish bhi ki to jine ke layak nhi rahenge....itna dard mat do hume ki hum marne ki dua kare.....

krishna put his hands on her mouth instantly...he felt terrible... he had nvr wanted her to die....hw cud he? he loved her.......

she shoved away his hand and fell at his feet----hume mar dalo krishna....nhi seh paungi wo dard jab tum hume chodkar chale jaoge.....krishna plz.........................

he lifted her up quickly,he didnt want to show his weakness in frnt of her bt cudnt help it. he brushed away a tear frm his face with his hand and said to her---pratigya ji suniye hamari baaton ko dhyan se...aur samjhiye.....

he made her sit down on the mattress and sat down beside her---pratigya ji hum jante hain ki aapko taklif hogi.....lekin aap hi bataiye hum kya kare? aap ek shariff ladki hain...hum ek gunda hain,ek gangster....hum itne acche nhi hain jaisa aap hume sochti ho....aur kya karogi hamare saath rehkar?aur kabtak.......hum ya to fasi hokar marenge ya fir police ki goli se......par hamari maut nishchit hain aur hume is baat ka darr bhi nhi hain..

pratigya felt a chill down her spine at the thot of it...

she instantly put her arms around him as if she thot that she cud save him that way......

krishna gently freed himself frm her embrace and caught her tender,sorrowful face in his hands....he looked into her eyes..... his heart ached.....

he pulled her face closer to his lips and kissed her forehead. then he whispered in her ears---pratigya hume is baat ka darr nhi hain ki hum mar jayenge lekin agr aap hamre saath tabtak rahi to hume is baat ka daar hain ki aap par kya bitegi...... isiliye-----he felt his voice tremble-------hum chahte hain ki aap hume ek bura sapna samjhkar bhul jaye...warna jo dard aapko tab hogfa uski jagah ye dard to kuch bhi nhi hain...... aap samajh rahi hain na?

chapter'11

pratigya cud nt look at his eyes,she cud feel that he was really struggling hard to put back his tears and therefore she nodded quickly to make him know that she had understood so that his weakness does nt come out in frnt of her... she wud nt be able to see it...

pratigya---krishna ek baat kahe hum tumse?

Krishna'kya?

pratigya'hum jitni der tak ek dusre ke saath hain..kya hum ye sab kuch bhula nhi sakte? agar iske baad hum kabhi na mile to kya hum iss pal ko chain se jee nhi sakte....???

Krishna didn't have any reply. he didn't know wat to say. he had tried to behave badly with her bt in vain,she understood it all....now wat cud he do to keep her happy for the time being?

pratigya was waiting for his reply. he turned at her and smiled---thk hain...agar aap yehi chahti hain to thk hain...lekin haan..agr is dauran aap humse aur jud gayi to aapko aur zyaada taklif hogi....soch lijiye...

pratigya---tumhare saath,tumhare paas rehna hume kabhi taklif nhi de sakta aur hum ye pal khone nhi chahte kyunki hum jante hain ye pal hamari zindagi mein dubara nhi ayega...

they were happy with each other,they talked freely...pratigya did nt at all feel that he was a gangster.. to her,he seemed like any ordinary young man...,cheerful,funny,witty and extreamely caring. wen she started to feel tired,he made her lie down on the mattress bt she didn't like it. she pulled herself to him and rested her head on his lap,she felt happy that way.....

Krishna ran his fingers into her hair,it was nice that way,her eyes became heavy bt she did nt want to fall asleep..she wanted to stay awake with sweetness of it...

she said to krishna----pata hain Krishna,hamare papa humse bht pyaar karte hain.....aj tak humne jo manga unhone humko diya hain...koi baat nhi chipayi hain humne unse....par...................hum...iske baad kabhi unse nazre tak nhi mila payenge...kyunki hum darte hain agar unhone aapko hamari nazron mein dekh liya to.....wo aapko mar dalenge...

Krishna was listening to evrythng carefully and calmly,suddenly he felt curious---mar dalenge...kyu?

pratigya got up,her eyes full of fear----mere papa C.I.D. officer hain....aur wo tumhe acchi tarahse jante hain....

Krishna's eyes glittered suddenly,pratigya did nt notice it. she continued saying----C.I.D. officer ranjit saxena mere papa hain.....

Krishna controlled his feelings wich were abt to him himself away and stayed calm in frnt of pratigya---accha? o....pratigya tum chinta mat karo......use kabhi pata nhi chalega... tum so jao....

pratigya lied down agen,convinced..............

Krishna recalled an incident a week before..his hert beat raced..........

[a week before]

TUMHE ranjit saxena ko darana hain-----said mathur bhai---kuch bhi karo....use maro pito,dhamkao bas mujhe us leader ka pata chahiye jise unlogo ne kahin chupa diya hain........

krishna(sincerely)---ji....hume kuch din de dijiye....hum uska pata kar lenge....

mathur bhai got up and came to him. he put his hand on his shoulders..and smiled--hume tumpar pura bharosa hain...tum kabhi apne kam se apni maksad ke nhi jhukoge.....ye hamare viswas hain.....

krishna(quietly)---ji...

mathur bhai turned away---now go.....tumhe kuch din nhi ek mahine ka waqt diya....ek mahine ke andar hume uska pata chahiye....air fir........

he folded his fingers in the shape of a gun and pointed to krishna.. then he said----samjhe na?

he nodded and left.....
