her name itself is the clue. she seems to be the Guru(spiritual leader) that they follow. it happens only in our country where they pray to durgamaa, parvatimaa, jagdambamaa, laxmimaa - and then turn around and have no value of daughter, wife or daughter-in-law. even in pratigya they keep praying to "alopi maai"(another goddess) and then kesar gets treated worse than the cow they may own.

as far as what Guruma is getting by helping them out - she has control, power over them. Even the most feared SS listens to her blindly albeit it may be for his own greed, but still. and this too is a fact of life - people sometimes tend to follow their spiritual leaders blindly to the detriment of themselves.

u r very welcome. also, they are there for us to hate nahi to yeh to another love story without masala ho jaati na. and anyway, in real life too there are people like this in our lives, just in different avatars.

it is bad but true that women are like that! seldom are women who won't be jealous with other women... that goes for even female friends! I have seen my male friends to be more supportive n caring at times than even my female best friend!!

n this is the best thing about this show, that people like SS, Naina, Pissiya really exist in our society and we can relate with such people! Infact, one of my neighbours, who is obviously not a maid, behaves like Pissiya, spreading rumors here n there n poking her nose in other's affairs...
