Part 72

The war had started, both forces were fighting each other, slaying each other, sounds od swords, elephants and horses were coming from both sides, at first it looked like Bhadrashal was gaining victory but suddenly the situation started turning due to great strategy of Chandra. The whole army was trapped from all sides. Bhadrashal said to Nandini, you must escape. Nandini angry, no we are not yet lost..he said, that's why there is still time for you to escape, go and warn Maharaj. Seems like I will have to enter the battlefield now properly...the trap is too strong, Nandini understood, she wished good luck to Bhadrshal and went back to the palace before she could be captured. Bhadrashal came in front of the army, he fought really valiantly and he injured Akshay to great extent which angered Chandra, he threw a spear at Bhadrshal which injured his horse. Bhadrashal ran away.....but was chased by his troops but when they found Bhadrashal, he had killed himself to escape shame of losing the war....the army of Chandra laid siege of the city. Nandini had already went back to the palace ......Sukesh was killed by Akshay when he tried to attack Chandra from the back...the news made whole family in massive grief. Nand was devastated and it seemed like he would have a heart attack but he calmed himself. Suhasini was really scared for her children. Nandini was in massive fury. She said, I must kill him. She took her sword and was going out when Nanda stopped her. He waa disheartened.....he said I will open the gates.... everyone was shocked....Nandini said, you will surrender? Nanda said, there is no option left, the siege is massive, he is planning to have our resources worn out and starve us. It may start affecting citizens. We must accept we lost. He said all this with great grief. The news of Bhadrashal's death also made him understand it's all lost.

Nanda said, Open the gates.......

When the news came to Chandra, his troops overjoyed, Malayketu thought, Now Nandini will be Mine...Laghu Paurav was happy for his own reasons....Chandra thinks, if possible forgive me Nandini. I protected you from Bhadrashal but couldn't stop trading you to Malayketu. I still wish Acharya had planned something, I want to save your honour. You had been my friend even though you hate me now........if i could do something to relieve you from grief i will feel a little better......

And the troops of Chandra and his allies entered the palace along with Acharya.... Acharya thinks....now the time has come....he touched his open hair....

Chanakya first entered the palace.....he saw Nanda standing in front of him, now Acharya saw a pitiful old man who lost everything but he still had hatred in his eyes for Acharya.....

Acharya- My oath has been fulfilled now Maharaj.

Nanda said- What do you want now? Kill me

Acharya- I am not a murdered Maharaj

Nanda- I don't want your pity

Acharya- I know but I will show it to you, I will allow you to leave with the things your one cart can hold. Leave the palace and go to Vanprasth never to come back again.

Nanda smiled-I know you won't keep me alive so why this mercy?

Acharya said- The god will do justice itself Maharaj, you have been defeated, my oath is fulfilled. I am not a barbarian, I am a teacher. Leave the Palace and find your way to salvation. Nanda smelled some plan but he decided to go with the flow.....

He went to meet his family and Nandini's mother , Suhasini and her children and Nandini herself were ready to go with Nanda. They came outside surrounded by Guards of Chandra and went to a chariot and left the palace but when they were leaving they saw Chandra and Malayketu.

Nanda was stopped to greet Chandra and give him his royal seal....... Nandini saw Chandra and was staring at him ......Nanda noticed it....and Malayketu was staring at Nandini.......Nanda smirked......he said to Chandra, I surrender you this royal seal making you my successor....Chandra was given royal seal by him and side by side.....I give you hand of my daughter Nandini, everyone was shocked... specially Malayketu........he told Nandini, go to his chariot my daughter and tearfully said and start your new life......Nandini was shocked and so was Chandra and Malayketu..... Malayketu shouted, this is outrageous but before that Chanakya hinted him to stay quiet.......as he sensed Nanda was planning to create rift between the allies. Nandini was also understanding this.........she took blessings of her father and got down from the chariot.....Nanda left the palace officially......Chandra was confused... Malayketu was deeply hurt and was angry....Nandini went to Chandra's chariot but he shouted, STOP.........don't you dare climb my chariot...you are trying to create rift between me and my allies.... Nandini was pained at this humiliation but she remained silent, Chandra said don't follow me....... choose anyone you want but me... Malayketu looked relieved...... Chanakya said, have pity on Nandini Chandra..... Malayketu said, Acharya....Acharya still hinted him to shut up as he didn't want their secret deal to come in front of everyone....he said, Nandini has chosen her husband and she has all the right to do so as a princess. Chandra, accept her, this poor girl has no one left.... accept her as your wife and she will be auspicious for you.... Chandragupta said, but Acharya...... Chanakya says, Chandra have some mercy on her......she left her family for you....Nandini was without any emotions in all this, it looked like her soul left her body and she was a living corpse......Chandra didn't want to further enrage Acharya and gave his hand to Nandini, she was shocked, she took his hand and tears came in her eyes and she climbed his Chariot, Malayketu was furious to see this, he thought, Betrayal..........Nandini saw Chandra but he didn't look at her ......they didn't say a word to each other and as newly weds Chandra and Nandini and Acharya with everyone entered the palace.....Amatya Rakshasa had escaped from a secret tunnel......in hope he could take revenge for this defeat......

Part 73

Chandragupta entered the room which was prepared for him under Shashank's guidance. Both Akshay who was still injured and Chandragupta were teary eyed to reunite with Shashank. He had been a huge help for them in this win. They did a group one. Only one missing was Swarna herself. Shashank said, I am so happy to see you guys again. Akshay said us too Shashank, I heard you got married, Congratulations. Chandra says, I heard she is a princess. Shashank says, Yes she is. She is princess of Asakya, Nayantara. Akshay and Chandra teased him, oh Nayantaraaaaa..... Shashank blushed and he asked with sad smile, How is Swarna? He didn't know chandra got married to Swarna. Their smiles faded. Akshay said, Shashank she got married. Shashank was shocked, he said to who? Akshay said some guy named Priyadarshan. Chandra felt a little guilty now. Shashank just said oh disappointingly. Chandra was annoyed, he said you are married Shashank. This doesn't suit you. Shashank said, I know but Nayantara was ok if I had also married Swarna, she knew about my feelings for her but now the case is closed anyway. Chandra's guilt was now gone considering Shashank wanted both Nayantara and Swarna. Shashank said, forget about it, I heard you married Rajkumari Nandini. Really? Chandra said, nope, she is forced upon me by her father and Acharya. Shashank said, but Chandra she's a princess. Very crucial for your stability here. Acharya did the right thing. Chandra says I know but somehow I feel Nandini deserves better. She is suffering too much, I don't want to hurt her anymore. Shashank says but she loves you, how marrying you is a suffering for her? Chandra remained silent.

Nandini entered her room and she was terribly sad. Now it's not her palace but her would be husband's palace till they officially get married. She broke down and started crying heavily. She shouted Why?.........she was crying and crying.....she said crying, I have no one in this world left....no one is truly mine, Chandra's heart Belonged to someone else, I am all alone.....I miss you father..... Come back, oh please come back and she fainted.

Nanda was on his chariot when suddenly his cart was stopped by someone. It was Shaktar. He was furiously staring at Nanda. He understood and hinted Suhasini to go to Shaktar with Children. Suhasini said, but you? He touched her face, I know I did a terrible thing to you but I won't be living long now. For my children's sake if possible forgive my sins. Suhasini touched his feet as it was last time she was seeing her husband. He blessed her by saying take care of my children and marry again a guy who will take care of you. She paid final respects to Dhan Nanda and Nandini's mother and left with Shaktar. Nanda saw her fading away with her father and children. Nanda said, This is it. I should have been wiser but now everything's gone and him and Nandini'a mother got down from the chariot and entered the jungle they were supposed to live in now.

In night

Nandini woke up and saw Chandra was on her side sitting waiting for her to wake up. Nandini said, Maharaj? Chandra laughed, What? Maharaj? Nandini said, yes Maharaj. Now you are my king. Chandra joked, well I was kinda a king before......of your heart. Nandini was still very sad and she didn't laugh on this joke. Chandra patted her head, he said you have not eaten anything. Here, have this food. She said, is there poison in it? He said, of course not. She said, then you should add it. What the hell you want? Stop trying to act nice and all. Leave me alone. Chandra said, I would have done that but I am not a demon who would leave you with so much mental trauma alone, most of it was given by me. Please Nandini eat something. I order you. Hearing this show took and morsel and ate. He said, that's better. I am leaving this plate here. Enjoy and when he was about to go she grabbed his hand. He was shocked... She got up.....and came near him..his guards suddenly came with their weapons. She smiled, is this also happens when you are with Swarna? He said, I have no relationship with Swarna. Nandini laughed, Chandra I have been a princess all my life. I can tell you know Swarna much more than a friend just by your look whenever I mention her. Chandra angry, you have no right to talk to me like that. She said, I have all the rights. I chose you as my husband and you gave me your hand accepting me. He said Ekant. His guards left. Chandra said, I accepted you only because my Acharya wanted to. Nandini smiled and she made a distance between them , she said I know and it was so obvious, after all marrying me means my father's followers support for you. Chandra didn't say anything. Nandini said, you can go now. Chandra left her room and she went back to bed and went to sleep without eating anything.

Malayketu was furious and he said to laghu paurav, uncle we have been betrayed. Nandini was supposed to be my bride but Chandra snatched her from me. Later he can also snatch our kingdom. We must do something. Laghu Paurav said, don't worry Malay, we will do something and get rid of Chandra. Magadha shall be ours and Nandini will be all yours. Malayketu said, Nandini shall be mine, even if she officially marries Chandra. He gave an evil look. Suddenly two ladies entered their room with wine with flirtatious look, they looked at each other and chuckled.

Next Morning

Durdhara was praying in front of gods when suddenly a messanger came. Chaya was with her. Swarna and Mura were in a hidden location even they didn't know. Messenger said, Badhai ho, Maharaj has conquered Magadha..they both were extremely happy. They hugged each other and Durdhara started swirling with happiness...she said I am so happy right now. Chandra has become Maharaj of Magadha. It's sucha joyous day. Durdhara thought, now Chandra will marry me and she blushed. Suddenly the messenger said, and Maharaj is now engaged to Rajkumar Nandini. Hearing this Durdhara got absolutely shocked. Even Chaya was shocked. Durdhara said, repeat again. Messenger said, Maharaj is engaged to Rajkumari Nandini. This was like a shock to Durdhara, even bigger shock than Swarna and Chandra's relationship. She couldn't speak at all. Messenger bowed and left. Chaya said, Durdhara, Durdhara. But she wasn't responding. She was like not reacting at all and was staring at one direction. Chaya slapped Durdhara to make her out of shock. Chaya said, Durdhara? Are you alright? Durdhara said, I.....I don't even know now. And she left for her room. She closed the door and her outburst happened, she started crying, she shouted Why Chandra?...... Her voice echoed even outside really loud and chaya got scared....she was continuously screaming why? Why you did this to me? Why? Why? She was in extreme pain. She in anger burned the letters which Chandra wrote to her since he left with Acharya. She burned all the letters. She said, all you words of love were just lies Chandra. I should have been wiser, why would you make a commoner your Agramahishi when you can have princesses. Everyone lied to me for their selfish reasons. She was stoned faced now.

Chandra was doing worship of Surya and straight went to the court. He retained most of the loyal servants and punished those who rebelled. Many days passed and his work was going smooth. Malayketu and Laghu Paurav decided to contact Amatya Rakshasa. Mura and Swarna also got the happy news and they reunited with Durdhara and Chaya. Swarna didn't react much on the news of Nandini and Chandra's upcoming marriage and she counseled Durdhara, made her see why the marriage was important but Durdhara now developed a complex of being a commoner and not being as pretty as Swarna and Nandini who were very beautiful ladies. So Durdhara still didn't believe Chandra loved her at all even after Swarna and Mura tried to convince her. Durdhara was furious on Chandra.

Part 74

Chanakya had counseled a priest and decided a date when Chandra and Nandini would officially get married. Before going to bed he always did a scrutiny of his room which he changed often. Before night he went to Chandra's room and he saw some ants were taking rice grains. He got suspicious and examined the floor. He understood something and said , Akshay burn this room. Akshay was shocked but Acharya did a sign to not say anything and he said, do as I say. Before going to bed Chandra went on a an evening walk, he went to a garden which was surrounded by his guards. He was walking alone and remembering his days in Taxila and in Pauravdesha's garden when Swarna and Chandra were chatting, a smile came on his face and then he suddenly remembered Durdhara and he felt sad. He thought, how will I now convince Durdhara I still love her. She will think I am a liar. A tear came from his eye. First Swarna now Nandini. Durdhara would be heartbroken. But I hope Mother and Swarna will make her see I am not doing all this for pleasure but simply out of duty. I still love her. But I can't be oblivious to my duties towards Swarna and now Nandini as well. Durdhara I really want to meet you. I must talk to Acharya to bring my family here. Suddenly a messanger came and said, Sire forgive me but Your room caught fire. Chandra was shocked. He ran to meet Acharya. Nandini heard this and ran to meet Chandra. She was very scared. They both met each other in Acharya's room. Chandra saw Nandini with anger and said, this must have been done by followers of your father or perhaps you yourself. Nandini was shocked and said, how can you accuse me of this? Why would I try to kill my husband? Chandra said, your fiancee not your husband yet. And you have many reasons to do that. Acharya said, stop it Chandra. You are a Maharaj but you are accusing Nandini like a child. The fire was lit by me. Both got shocked. Nandini said You? Why? Chandra said why Acharya? You know if you ask for my life I will gladly give it to you. Acharya said, I want you to live Chandra that's why I didn't it. Chandra said how? He said, some rebels were hiding under your room in a tunnel. The fire was lit to get rid of them. More than Nandini, Chandra was shocked. He said, how cruel Acharya? You could have captured them but this? Acharya said, we had no other option than this Chandra. Chandra was sad and angry and he left. Nandini understood Acharya a little better but she also left without saying anything but before that she simply said to Acharya, Amatya Rakshasa? Acharya said, yes. And then Nandini left without saying anything.

In Babylon

Helena was becoming a famous beauty and everyone had started talking about her. Everyday Apama was getting proposal of many people that they wanted to get their sons to marry Helena when she is a properly grown up woman. Apama remembered oracle's words that Helena would marry her enemy. Apama thought, Helena fate says that she will marry her enemy and he will be madly in love with her. But seems like Oracle lied. Helena is desired by so many. Will her beauty be the reason of enmity? Hope not. Oh Zeus, I only want the best for her. My kid wants to marry an Emperor but she's still a child. She doesn't understand this world. Oh Zeus, protect her and she prayed, give her someone who will love her unconditionally. I want her future husband to love her like no lover ever did, who will love her more than her father, can this be possible? And again a thunderstorm happened. Apama just stared at the sky.

Nandini was roaming walking in the morning with her friends and servants who were teasing her about her upcoming wedding. One girl said, so rajkumari, what is your plan after marriage? What will you call Maharaj in Private? Another girl said, I know, Priyatam and they all laughed but Nandini was only fake laughing. Suddenly they bumped into Malayketu. He did pranam to Nandini who returned back the courtesy. Malayketu said, Can I talk with you if you don't mind? Nandini hesitated but said ok. Malay and Nandini were walking while her servants were walking behind her on a distance. Malay said, so rajkumari, don't you miss your family? Nandini said, I hope you are not here to hurt me by mentioning my past. Malay said, I am sorry, I was just wanted to know why you chose Chandra when he was so cruel on you. I....I still love you. Nandini got furious, he further said, if you want I can be a choice, I will talk to Chandra, he won't deny me that. Nandini said, enough. You shouldn't talk with someone's fiancee like that. Malayketu grabbed her hand and said, I am only confessing before it's too late. Nandini furious now slapped Malayketu. But he smiled, he said join me Nandini and I will take revenge for your defeat. Nandini said, enough....and she straight went to meet Chandra. Chandra was relaxing in his room. When told he allowed to meet Nandini. Chandra said, what happened Nandini? Nandini told him everything. Chandra was annoyed but not angry, he said, he shouldn't have behaved like this, I will talk to him. Nandini was like, just that? You aren't mad. Chandra said, I am angry for sure. He wants to plot against me. Nandini said, what? And you don't see what he said to me, he wanted me to choose him. Chandra asked, do you want to choose him? Nandini said, Chandra, you are not dumb, why are you behaving like this? I am your fiancee and you aren't mad that someone else proposed me. Chandra said, I don't know Nandini, we are still not married yet, it's your choice entirely. I will not force you. Forcing women is not my sanskar. He said it innocently but Nandini thought he mocked her father for Suhasini. Nandini said, my father is probably dead and you are still mocking him. Chandra said, you misunderstood me Nandini but she said enough. She said, you know what Chandra, I am not guilty anymore for cursing you. Beware the day when you will be in my position when you will be so much in love and she will be out of your reach. You would want her so bad but wouldn't be able to express it. Whenever you will see her with someone you would want to kill him just because he was standing with her, it will be that maddening. It will hurt Chandra, it will hurt very bad. Being in love is not easy. Chandra was furious and he angrily said, you really think that any woman in this world can make me this crazy. You are mistaken Nandini. I can never be like that. And your curses will have no effect on me and my life. Don't mistake my pity for my ignorance. I feel pity for you and want to see you happy but remember that I am your king. He came forward with threatening eyes. This is the last time you have crossed your lines and Malayketu. Like you behaved before like a princess I expect you to behave like a queen when we will get married. His threatening eyes scared Nandini. He said, from now on you shall behave like you should in front of the king. I am done with your attitude. Nandini did not say anything and simply bowed and left. Her curses echoed in his ears. He got very angry and threw a vase on the mirror. He said, It won't happen, Never.

Part 76

Nandini came to her room and again started crying. She said to herself, what should I do? If I didn't love him so much I would have allied with Malay to kill him but I cannot do this. He doesn't understand my love for him. While Malayketu went to Laghu Paurav who was busy in merry making with women. He stormed in his room. He gave a sign to women to go away and they bowed and left. Laghu Paurav said, what happened my dear son? Malayketu said, I am being impatient uncle, I want Nandini very soon, before that Chandra can have her. What Amatya Rakshasa said? Laghu Paurav smiled and said, Malay don't worry, one plan failed but next one will definitely succeed. He asked how? Laghu Paurav said, Malay, Amatya has already cast the dice and he smirked. Malayketu said, what's the plan? Laghu Paurav said sssshhh......and he started laughing.....Malay also started laughing.......

It was day of Kaumudi Mahotsav, Chandra had ordered a grand feast for everyone. All his allies, his guests, his Amatyas except Acharya who willingly stayed away were busy in festivities. Nandini was also there who sit on the above floor watching the festivities with her servants. Concubines of allies of Chandra were also there busy in eating and drinking.

Chandra with his allies entered the palace, everyone bowed and he said, Kaumudi Mahotsav ki bahut bahut badhai sabko and then he sat on his throne and dancers started dancing and everyone got buys. Everyone was busy except Chandra who was missing his family and the normal way they celebrated the festival. He remembered how his friends used to celebrate in Taxila. He thought, how simple those times one. Now I have to do fake smiling here pretending I am liking all this. He saw Nandini sitting on top and she looked sad as well. He thought, wish I could do something to make her happy. Even the festival can't bring smile on her face. He felt a little bad for the day when Nandini came to him and told him about Malayketu. He said, obviously she was furious, I should have assured her but .....and then suddenly a woman came with a veil on her face......everyone got shocked, her perfume was Intoxicating and it spread even to Nandini who was very far away from her. Everyone looked fascinated by her except Chandra who thought, oh god rose perfume, how annoying, who allowed entry to her? How will I bear this. I hate roses but Chandra kept his calm. Nandini saw the woman and then chandra and she was already feeling jealous. The woman bowed in front of the king and other people and lifted her veil. She was an absolutely gorgeous woman, very beautiful. She caught fancy of every male there except Chandra and jealousy of every female including Nandini. She saw Chandra's face and thought, oh no, will she be serving Chandra tonight while Chandra thought, oh god this damn perfume, what did she eat today, roses.......I can't bear her......who is she? He was absolutely annoyed but can't show it. The woman said, I am a gift from your neighbouring kingdom for Maharaj....but Chandra wasn't listening, he hated her perfume, he thought, this is it, this is how I will die, by roses. He was trying to not breathe enough and said, oh a gift, ok....ah.....I like it. He said it because he wasn't able to think due to her perfume but everyone thought the king liked the courtesan. Nandini became very jealous. Meanwhile in audience Laghu Paurav was extremely enamoured with her. He was staring like her like he never saw a beautiful woman before. He was mesmerized. She started doing dancing meanwhile Chandra was forced to see it and pretend he liked it. Chandra thought, my acting skills will be greatly improved today. This courtesan is trying to impress me while I just want to punish her perfume maker. Who the hell told her to wear roses in front of me. Oh lord, help me.
