I have been meaning to make this post since Wednesday but there were a lot of posts discussing this already so I didn't really want to make another post. Besides it's somewhat of a norm...forumwasis are always stressed out on wednesdays and thursdays before the TRPs come out.😆 So I thought there's really no point in saying what I want to say as I am very optimistic and people who were too tensed wouldn't perhaps take a good look at what I want to say. 😳
I honestly feel some of us are worrying too much too soon. We are only just finished its 3rd week and have only got the ratings of weeks 1 and 2. They weren't as high as we hoped for but it has only been just 2 weeks. Most new shows take a few weeks to rise on the charts and it's only a few shows that has opened with a high ratings in the past. It's not really important what the TRP is on the 1st week or 2nd week. The important thing is to have a strong storyline and which will eventually help the TRPs to rise and sustain it.
I genuinely believe this show will see a slow and steady rise because the makers are offering us something different and people always take time to get used to changes. Besides, the real story of Rangrasiya is only just beginning and this is what will start bringing in the TRPs. The foundation for the story and the characters have been established, now the focus will be on real story. There will be more interaction between the leads...interaction between all other characters...there will be more focus on emotions.
It has only been 3 weeks and I was surprised to see people getting so worried or saying certain things should be changed. Maybe it's the cross border track that's not working, maybe it's Lairud or PaRun..or maybe it's the action that TRP aunties don't relate too. The story is too intense perhaps. This is the story of Paro and Rudra but Laila is an important aspect of Rudra life...their relationship gives us a deeper look into Rudra's psyche. Paro's marriage with Varun and his death in Rudra's hands sets the foundation for the hate from Paro's side. The arms smuggling across the borders is Tejawat's story. It is what makes him who he is.
Aside from PaRud love story, these are three very important angles of the storyline and Rangrasiya isn't really Rangrasiya without any of these. It is intense but then, how can it be not intense? The intensity is the essence of this story, if it gets the diluted then the essence will be lost. And I feel the show was perfectly paced as they couldn't rush through any of these things.
Most of us have been shows of some show or other in the past? I am sure we have seen what happens when the creatives start buckling under pressures, try to suit the taste of the TRP audience, and deviate from the original concept. Do we really want that?
It has only been 3 weeks and there is a lot more to come. So chill. RR is only just getting started. 😳
This show has already created a huge impact worldwide. If the response from the online fandom is anything to go by...which comprises of Indian, NRIs, Subcontinent countries, UK, USA, Can, AUS and basically people across the globe...it is already a huge hit. It is getting great review from audience, critics, media and even industry insiders. If RR topped the UK ratings this week. That has to count for something.
So why worry?
A lot of people may think overseas ratings aren't that important but if it's counted, it definitely has its importance and it also gives an important indication. RR didn't top the UK charts on its 1st and 2nd week but it went up in its 3rd week. This week was a high point of the show...Varun's death and beginning of PaRud's story...which is what people are waiting for. We still don't know how it did in India in its 3rd week...maybe TRP aunties are waiting for the same things too. 😳😆
For once let the TRP audience get a taste of something new. It is different but it doesn't mean it won't be accepted. Let them get accustomed to something different instead of catering them what they have seen over and over again. Action scenes in daily soaps are completely new. TRP aunties are not used to seeing this but there is always a first time and these actions scenes might pull a lot of male viewers too.
There is no way that the TRPs of weeks 1&2 is our fault and that CVs are showing what some fans are demanding. They finished shooting the first three weeks long time ago...before the show came on air. Then how it is possible that what we have seen so far is according to the demand of a few fans? The makers have spent months planning this show, so I am sure they have the future tracks planned out. They have experience in making shows so I am sure they know it too what to do in order to make a long running soap. So have some faith in their abilities.
Do we even have any clue what the makers have in store for us next? We know that Paro will start living in Rudra's house and that's about it. We knew the basic storyline for the first 3 weeks because it was revealed in the promos, articles and sneak peek. That future tracks are still a mystery.
If we have loved it so far, we have loved it because of their storytelling.
TRP aunties are always quick to lap up saas bahu sagas and kitchen politics, but once in a while they accept shows offering something different, but they take some time to warm up to these shows. Many of us here aren't the TRP audience and we don't love all those saas bahu sagas...the shows that TRP aunties love. But the funny thing is, sometimes we start advocating for the TRP aunties and get ready to make compromises with our favorite shows.😆 We start making endless demands, creatives get confused and in the end we are always left with a hodgepodge.
Besides, there is no single way to measure success. It is measured in various ways. TRP is very important but it is not the only thing. There are stories that appeal to the masses and there are ones that appeal to the niche audience.
If so many people are loving it, that means it is good as it is and hopefully, the TRP aunties will love it too. 😛
So I would say give the TRP aunties some time, they will eventually come around. If they don't, then maybe same old stuff channels keep dishing out is according to their liking and if we only worry about pleasing them, we are going to have keep make compromises and end up watching diluted stories on screen.
I for one believe Nautanki Films and Colors have a great story to offer this time and I really want to see them tell their story their way. I hope they get the chance to do it this time. I am not saying fans shouldn't give their opinions, express their likes and dislikes but I do think it's too early make judgments especially when we don't know what's ahead.
So I would say we wait, watch and enjoy the show and not get so worked up. 😳
