The Eyes!!

Her eyes...used to be child like...simple...always coy, hesitant, yet when unwatched, dreamy. At times clouded with pain, the pain of remembrance and loss, and at times hopeful for the unseen future. She would gaze in the uncertain future, over the sand dunes, her eyes waiting for the prince on a camel, but if caught, the shy ones would deny ever harboring such a thought. Then, they brightened, finaly shone. Especially since the day she met him, Varun Sa, most of the emotions had disappeared. Her eyes then had a hopeful shine, a silent sliver of happiness and home...albeit a tiny one, shone in them. It was beautiful till it lasted. A breath long..brief and ill fated was that look.

Now if you look in her eyes..if you have the courage to face the devastation and the ruins that lay there..if your are inhuman enough to stand and stare...you will be haunted for the rest of your life. Her eyes hold nothing...not even a tear, cause they have all been spent in vain...a vacuum where a world used to lay...or maybe not. It holds too much...way too much to decipher. Ghosts of a lost world...angst that can be neither explained nor understood...endless, relentless grief. A sadness that is vaster than the desert itself. Yet her silent eyes speak volumes.

Or maybe you can focus on the confusion, the heart wrenching incomprehension of what goes on around her in this world. She cannot understand ...her mind...her heart, her soul...frozen solid...she fails to register or comprehend what is being said, what is being expected. Why..what...where..how...all the questions she is surrounded with...yet remains untouched from, cause she is too far away to be touched by any reason or emotion. She is lost and her eyes reflect her aimless wandering in nothingness

Then for a brief moment, when some sense and semblance manage to break through the fog, her helplessness and vulnerability, blind you. Her eyes scream for help..for a hand...for a glance. She is breaking inside and her eyes beg for a helping hand.

But above all comes terror. Fear...that's what her eyes fill up with. When she sees him...her eyes cringe...and wince. The sight shivers in unknown terror. Stony with fright, they try and see what horrors await them next. When they fall on him, the mirror of her soul, shatters in a million terrified pieces. If she had her way, she would never look at him, but he forced them up, unclothing her soul, baring her being. And his glimpse, brings back nightmares. Nightmares of the lost world, ghosts of the past, mocking and laughing at her. He reminds her cruelly of all that she dreamt of and all that she had lost. He reminds her that there is nothing left, not even a memory. When his eyes, inhumane and ruthless, bore into hers...her soul writhes...shrivels...withers..freezes and silently dies a thousand deaths. When his cruel and cold eyes sear her, she wished she would just close her gaze...and never open them again...

They beg, plead, cry, scream, in a moment and in another moment...nothing..A flash of love and lost, of unbearable loneliness...and then an eternal silence...

Whatever you do, don't look at her eyes. They will haunt you forever...
